Personally I didn’t like the look of the remaster and my recent play through was in original gfx mode.

Is it mechanically identical otherwise? Though I have to admit so much of the feel of the original comes through in the visual design it feels like the slightest nudge could ruin it.

  2. A question for those that know: is the remastered version of Halo in the Master Chief Collection actually the definitive version, or does the argument it doesn't quite feel the same hold weight? I've not actually played the remaster myself but remember reading a few rumblings about it so mentioned it in the writeup.

  3. I've played the first Conan scenario twice as the Overlord and won both times. I think it's actually quite hard for the players if you don't hold back. The new Doom game is kind of the other way round, where players are very powerful. I love both games.

Yes, me too. It’s s great flick, but it’s pretty standard fare. Not really one people will be watching in years to come as a defining work of cinema.

Or at least I don’t think so, it’s horses for courses I guess.

I disagree. I think it was more than the sum of its parts like Moon and will become a bit of a genre classic in a few years. It's probably not been seen by enough people yet.

Expected Dark Souls to be higher, I didn't persist with it after continuously dying after reaching the first main place after doing the opening area but have always been meaning to go back and try giving it another shot because I love the look and feel of it all - just not the difficulty.

Usually with most areas in Dark Souls it's not so much it's hard, but just requires a very patient approach to combat, as it really punishes mistakes. It's worth sticking with it.

Blight Town can get to fuck though.

  6. Ignoring how influential they were and just basing the ranking on how good they are taken in isolation, and if you only played one Soulsborne game with no prior knowledge of the others, I would rank the series thus:

    1. Bloodborne

    2. Dark Souls

    3. Dark Souls 3

    4. Demon's Souls

    50. Dark Souls 2
