The way the songs ebb and flow, build on each other, etc! The production feels way more expansive, too. He's been heavy on the compression for so long, it's a fresh new sound for him.

I tried the dubbed Only Yesterday, and noticed the dub didn't match with the subtitles. Slight different phrasing. Is this a common dub thing? I think it's an early dub, too - iirc Totoro et al got better ones.

I was bored stiff watching The Wind Rises in the cinema. I probably should re-watch it. Maybe I had a really bad day.

I heard Mark Kermode talking about the release of the black and white print, and he mentioned that Mother, Bong's 2013 film, got a b&w release too, which I watched last night. It was beautiful. I hadn't seen Mother since it was first released, but this version left such a strong impression. It's a fanatastic film, and even more striking in monotone. I can't wait to see Parasite again.

Ooh, just noticed Thunder Road is up, one of my favourite films of the last few years. Beautiful little thing.

Yeah, it was such a confidently directed film. Must re-watch as I haven't seen it for a decade. Also want to see Barking Dogs Never Bite, which looks ace too.
