I'm a big fan of Ozil but he's really frustrated me this season. He rarely contributes to anything and he doesn't deserve a place just because he's a high earner. He doesn't have any hunger or desire to play well for either the team or himself. Odd.

Do your own fucking research. Some right moaners in this thread. I'm just here to appreciate Rik & Ade.

They didn't have much money to make the film & it wasn't too long after Rik's accident so he wasn't at his best. Simon Pegg said he had trouble remembering his lines most of the time.

The other week I finally made my pilgrimage to the Rik Mayall memorial bench which is on the same traffic island they used in the opening credits.

The BBC would never have commissioned such a show in 2018. These days it's all about political correctness with the BBC. Even if they did green-light Bottom in 2018 they'd insist one of the lead characters had to be female & the other from a minority ethnic group. So instead of Richie & Eddy we'd have Imran & Julie. With no violence. Rik & Ade actually wrote a fourth series of Bottom but it was rejected by "some lesbian bitch" at the BBC according to Rik. So clearly even 10+ years ago the BBC would never have aired a show like Bottom which is just sad & pathetic. I grew up watching shows like Bottom. I saw all the Bottom live stage shows too and there really was nothing like it. Rik's performance left you speechless. It was extraordinary to see someone so much energy & charisma performing right in front if you. Rik & Ade said numerous times that Bottom was 'cartoon violence'. It's no different to Tom & Jerry violently beating the fuck out of each other with things like frying pans, steam irons & baseball bats. Bottom was so cleverly written. They got the tone perfect and never had to resort to shock-tactics to get laughs like they did in Little Britain. Rik's completely OTT acting and facial expressions had me crying with laughter. Bottom was genius.

It was a really decent performance yesterday. I was annoyed to concede such a stupid goal but the second half display was almost faultless. Aside from a shaky defence it's all positive right now. The managerial change is what we desperately needed so no moaning from me.

I still don't know how Ozil scored. He seemed to side foot it through about 6 people & past the keeper into the net.
-
A win is a win, so I'm happy with that. Yes, the performance wasn't spectacular but Newcastle away had the potential to be a little tricky so to come away with three points is a job well done.

He is different behind closed doors on the training pitches & changing room. His public image is very different to the one the players see each day. Man United's problems are down to recruitment. You've bought a lot of expensive rubbish and still expect a tune out of them. There's also no fear about United any more. Teams used to shit themselves about playing at Old Trafford, now people go there expecting some kind of result as your defence is so poor & you can't score many goals due to that useless lump up front (Lukaku). You don't have any nasty players either, just a load of walkovers. Any top side needs a few nasty bastards in the side. At Arsenal we've not had any steel for over 10 years and it shows & your lot are going the same way.
-
Blame your players, not Mourinho. Not many of them seem to be putting much of a shift in as they don't have that hunger to win.

That was brilliant and well worth a watch so thanks for the link.

I'll have to give that a watch...

I've seen quite a few good ones over the years. BT Sport have produced a few corkers such as 'Golazzo: The Football Italia Story' (An absolute must-see for any fellow fans of Channel 4's Football Italia), 'The Crazy Gang' & I think they did one on the Bradford City fire. One Night in Turin & Gazza's Tears are a must-watch & of course the best documentary of them all was the infamous 'An Impossible Job' which was a fly-on-the-wall documentary about England's failure to quality for USA 94. Poor old Graham Taylor... The best Formula 1 documentary I have seen was called 'Grand Prix: The Killer years' which focused heavily on the 1960's eras lack of anything resembling common sense & safety. The footage wasn't for the squeamish as they showed graphic footage of drivers burning to death in their cars etc, but it showed the lunacy of the sport and how Jackie Stewart fought to have mandatory things like crash barriers installed at circuits instead of bails of hay.

He has no discipline. He almost always gets booked quite early on, then he's treading a tightrope for the remainder of the match. He doesn't really offer anything when he's on the pitch so it's very difficult to keep carrying players like him & Ozil and expecting to get a result against the likes of City & Chelsea. I don't know what to think at the moment. Our defence is alarmingly bad so Emery needs to figure out a better system, but the players also have to step it up & stop gifting teams goals due to errors due to piss poor positioning. No one talks to each other & they all just robotically do their thing without thinking about who's meant to be snuffing out the gaps left down the flanks or right through the centre of the defence. I don't see any communication out there and that's down to no leadership on the pitch.
-
The only person who can get Ozil's head right is Ozil. His life off the pitch seems to be going swimmingly if your buy-in to his social media activities, so whatever is wrong is clearly just some kind of mental block he has when he steps on the pitch. We were effectively playing with 10 men yesterday as he was completely absent & we can't afford to carry him against Chelsea so he had better turn up or he might as well be dropped.
-
I agree with everything you say, but I don't blame Emery for starting him. All I ever want to see from a player is someone that gives 100% and he did that. I don't care about the mistakes, or the misplaced passes as that's minor stuff. With the right coaching and the right team mates alongside him, he could become a vital part of the team in the future. We've been crying out for someone who can do the 'Petit/Gilberto' role for years, this guy might be the answer. He showed he's not scared to get stuck in and he certainly didn't lack confidence!
-
I was really impressed with Guendouzi. For a young player making his first ever Premier League start he played full of confidence. He lost the ball a few times but he looks to have huge potential and reminds me of Emmanuel Petit. Unfortunately he was surrounded by dog shit like Xhaka & Ozil who made it very difficult for him. We are a better side when that idiot Xhaka is out of the team so I hope he doesn't start against Chelsea. We can't defend to save our lives so might as well go on the attack by starting Lacazette with Aubamayang as the pair of them can cause any team problems if they have the ball.
-
They all do that though, doesn't matter if it's Nike, Adidas or Puma. They all follow the same template, with only occasional minor tweaks. I do agree that the Puma kits are horrible though. I haven't bought a home shirt since the first Puma one. All replica kits these days are dog shit quality for obscene prices, so I can't see myself buying a new home shirt again as I don't feel the need to wear one at a game any more.
-
We should only have a yellow away kit. Obviously with modern football you do need a third kit, so make that blue. No excuse for all these vulgar kit designs & colours really, especially when you are trying to build a brand.

The press are on his back in Germany as they have made him the scapegoat for their early exit. He deserves every bit of the sporting criticism he's got as he's been abysmal. Prominent German FA officials are fighting to save their jobs after going out at the group stage so they are attacking Ozil for being a lazy git & some of them got personal due to politics between Turkey & Germany. Obviously Ozil's aligned himself with Turkey due to his ancestry and some idiots at the German FA are not happy about it. Instead of trying to prove them wrong with his football, he's chucked his toys out the pram and essentially given the critics what they wanted. It's weak behaviour & we've seen how he's all too keen to chuck the towel in at Arsenal and have a 'rest' for a week or two while the squad struggled for results. He's so annoying as he does have the talent & ability to be one of the best players in Europe, but his attitude stinks.
-
I've had abuse & all sorts of threats made by people. I just ignore it. As far as I'm aware I haven't actually been killed by any keyboard warriors yet. Funny that. Ozil needs to pull his socks up and start earning his wages instead of blaming everyone but himself for his peformances.
-
Some random tit on Twitter threatening to kill you isn't a death threat. These celebs & sports people need to get a backbone and ignore the trolls on social media. It's not like they often read & interact with replies often anyway. They just seem very selective when they want to pull people up for 'abuse' on social media when it furthers their own agenda. If Ozil wasn't such a lazy shit no one would be moaning about him anyway. He was appalling for us for the last 6 months of last season and you can't expect to perform for your country at the highest level when you've been giving less than 10% for your club for half a year. He's basically been pulled up by people for his lack of effort & he's thrown his toys out the pram. Pathetic. Ozil should grow some bollocks & let his football do the talking. Unfortunately he's a very weak individual so it will be a miracle if we get much of a tune out of him this coming season.
