Awful, awful, awful, awful. Wow, that word looks wierd on screen when typed out loads but it doesn't even begin to stress how embarrassingly bad we are at the moment. No cutting edge up front, unable to produce anything but laughter at set pieces, defensively all over the shop and as leaky as a sieve. On top of that we have a keeper who can pull off an amazing acrobatic save one minute and then cost us the game the next. The sooner we get knocked out of the Uefa Cup the sooner we can start re-building for the Championship because everyone at the club seems to be furiously polishing the brass on the Titanic. We couldn't be any worse if Ronnie fucking Rosenthal was still playing for us.

If we only have two points at Christmas we are relegated regardless of the January window. The rot needs to stop against Bolton or, well, it really is game over because after that it's Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City. Nurse! Only one team has ever avoided relegation in the Premier League from this position at this point in a season. I think our first win will be against Fulham.

    Relegation confirmed. Goodbye Ramos!

Oh man, six pointer against relegation buddies Stoke today. Shit's on! This is far too similar to that 97-98 season when we almost went down, except this time we are in an even worse position. But at least we don't have Christian Gross.

And in this case 'we' are fucking shit. Betfair have a Spurs special bet on when our first win of the season will happen. Bastards.

The news keeps getting better! Hang on, no wait, the other one. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...pur/7658037.stm Still, I suppose if you're going to be injured it's best that it happens mostly during the international break.

A point?? A point?? Anything less than a win is another disaster when the four games after it are considered. Fixtures Sunday, 19 October 2008 Barclays Premier League Stoke v Tottenham, 16:00 Saturday, 25 October 2008 Barclays Premier League Tottenham v Bolton, 15:00 Wednesday, 29 October 2008 Barclays Premier League Arsenal v Tottenham, 20:00 Saturday, 01 November 2008 Barclays Premier League Tottenham v Liverpool, 17:30 Saturday, 08 November 2008 Barclays Premier League Man City v Tottenham, 15:00 Stoke and Bolton are the only games I can see us realistically picking up 3 points from. Even a 'glass is half full' kinda guy would think it's a stretch to get anything from those last three games other than a draw at best.

Congratulations Levy, Comolli, Ramos and team! We are now in a relegation scrap for the rest of the season. Forget europe, forget domestic cups, it's now about survival. It's over.

We can't rely on King, though, as he is made of glass and balsa wood. Unfortunately, there is no one else in the team who can take lead and drag us back up when we are down.

According to Wikipedia, Anil Ambani is the 6th richest person in the world as of this time last year. He's going to need every penny he's got to turn around this disaster.

Okay, so I got the formation wrong but... ;)

So, who is looking forward to today's inevitable draw against Hull? I can't wait! If we are true to form we will start playing 4-5-1 and then get booed off at half time after going behind. Then we can make some changes, switch to 4-4-2 and go all out for an equaliser. I was going to put a winking smiley in, but then I read it again and realised that I don't think I'm joking at all. COYS!

See, I forget sometimes that he played for Inter as a lad. PREDICT-O-TRON: Wisla Krakow 2 - Spurs 1

I read something (possibly on here) that said every club Robbie Keane has left has been relegated shortly afterwards. When he gets bored of being played out of position by Benitez, well, he's more than welcome to return for some Championship action.

Oh no, we suck... again! We are going the way of Leeds with every passing day. If we lose to Hull, I think it will be the worst start to a Premier League campaign by any side ever. Chin up, lads!

Currently 1-1 against Wispa Caramel, I mean Wisla Krakow. We still can't defend for shit.

The lack of steel and control in our midfield is killing us, I agree. I actually don't think we have ever properly recovered from losing Carrick, y'know. Ramos really messed up by not buying any defensive midfielders in the window. Ahhhh, same old shithouse Spurs.

We. Cannot. Defend. For. Shit. Actually we have never been able to defend apart from that brief spell when Santini was in charge. The difference was that we could score a shit load of goals with our world class attackers, all of which are now gone. This kind of balanced things out a bit. So, we can't defend (mainly if Ledley King is not playing) and now we can't score goals either. The end. Also, I'd imagine confidence is rock bottom what with us being, er, rock bottom.

Can someone change this topic's subtitle to 'The future's SHITE, it's Lilywhite', please? Fucking hell.
  21. Has anybody else had this demo crash on them (360 version)? This has happened twice today, the whole thing just froze and I couldn't even use the guide. It better not be my Xbox dying for the second time.
  22. The 360 demo definitely slows down for a split second when a lot is going on in midfield as I've mentioned earlier. This has happened quite a few times to me but I can't speak for the PS3 demo. The 30 fps replays and cutscenes are really disappointing, though. Also, when the one-on-one loading bit transforms into the full stadium it feels well wierd not having that smoothness. Minor niggle but I can play that for hours just flicking the ball up and smashing in volleys.
  23. Awesome match and a great recovery by Liverpool after a really bad start. Well played.
  24. Finally got round to playing a few games of the demo last night and, yes, it is as good as everyone thought it would be. Most of the things that have really bugged me about the last couple of Fifas are gone. Everything is faster and more responsive, the ball doesn't do that weird floating thing anymore and shooting has much more punch and directness. Tackling and player contact feels more robust and solid now, you can really feel the difference when holding up the ball with a stronger player. I've experienced some slowdown, usually after a goal kick or clearance into a congested midfield but hopefully this will be fixed for the full game. After all these years EA finally delivers a football game that I would happily pay full price for. Wooo, indeed!
  25. Me too, except that the only Fifa I ever owned was Fifa 2003 pre-owned cheap for Xbox because it had no Pro Evo at the time, even though it was shit. All signs point to EA really nailing it this year while Seabass remakes PES 5 again if hands on reports are true. I really like PES but it is going nowhere, no innovation, no fixing of problems, no online experience that works and no next-gen graphics... it has become what Fifa used to be year after year. I still like the core gameplay and responsiveness of it but I'm not paying for the same thing again. Uefa 2008 has shown me that EA is trying to move the gameplay of their football games forward by actually fixing things that were issues in Fifa 2008. Last year Seabass promised a back to the drawing board overhall for PES but not until the 2009 release of PES 2010. Next year we will have the same re-hash and that statement will be exposed as nothing but bullshit. He already thinks that the PS2 versions are 'perfect' despite lingering, outstanding flaws, so that says to me he has zero interest in changing. Fifa 2009 better not dare be a let down. Fuck me, I never thought I'd ever say that.
