  1. That's because she's autotuned to buggery. It's not deliberate in terms of her delivery, it's a by product of excessive and aggressive autotuning, which has become her signature sound. The vocals will also be edited so that the phrasing falls perfectly on the beats, and that's what takes away the human touch. I think she sounds godawful. I saw a video on youtube of her mix engineer, who said he hears the tracks without the autotune and thought it sounded a lot better, but he couldn't take it off, because that's what her sound is. The other problem is that the autotune generally needs a fairly loud vocal to latch onto the pitch and correct it, so most modern vocals are brickwalled so that the quiet sounds are extremely loud, the same volume as the loudest sounds. For me there's no respite with modern music, I find it exhausting to listen to. I sound like such an old fart typing that but it's true.
  2. Yeah, I can't get my head around it completely, because I'm so used to the thor in reason. You can route anything you want to to absolutely anywhere you want in the thor but the mono poly is it's own self contained thing. I really need to read the manual and find out what everything does but I'm happy to tinker at the moment. The basic sound is so amazing though, really rich.
  3. New track from me, I tried out the korg monopoly through the reason store, you can try them for a month before you have to buy them. It sounded amazing, really nice and smooth and I instantly bought it when the trial ran out. I made the bulk of this track with that synth, and to be frank it sounded like being put on hold when you ring your mobile network, and I couldn't find what it needed. Eventually I tried a few chopped up sections from two gladys knight acapellas and they suited it really well. I might take down the vocals and the kick drums a tad in the next mix of this, but otherwise I'm happy with the way it sounds for the most part. It's imaginatively entitled 'Korg track'
  4. I wanted the red white and blue one, but ended up with the red one, but I'm still chuffed to bits that I got either one.

I played starbound when it first appeared on greenlight, I didn't think it had any charm at all. I landed on a couple of planets and one there was a massive planet of the apes style city with ape people wandering around, it was very impressive. After walking through i for a couple of minutes I realised that it was all just window dressing, there was nothing to interact with, and it was all totally pointless. I've not been back to it since it's been fully realeased but it didn't click with me at all.

Those ones are just for show, there are ones you'll find down in the depths which can spawn monsters somehow, but I've never looked into all that.

I think you have to have beaten the eye or the eater of worlds before you get a goblin invasion.

You can do both, I usually have a central shaft with stairs or platforms and rooms going off each side. I don't have a screenshot but I used to have a castle with a huge gold entrance hall. It had big glass dome sealing it in. When I flipped a switch lava would pour over the outside of the dome, great for goblin invasions.

The next thing to do would be to get a boss down, or to do some exploring in the corruption or the crimson. It looks like things have changed a bit from when I really got into this, but the easiest one to kill is probably the eye of cthulu. They spawn randomly at night if you've got more than 200 health iirc. Also, If you kill the floating eyeballs which spawn at night, then they drop lenses, you might have a few already. You can craft these into the suspicious looking eye which will summon the boss when you use it at night. You'll want a ranged weapon to take it on, a boomerang is good because you don't need ammo. See the spoiler below if you're having trouble killing the eye The eye will drop the next tier of ore, so you can make a funky new pickaxe or a weapon. You could also go find a shadow orb or a crimson heart, and smash it. You might need dynamite to be able to blast your way to it, but fun stuff starts to happen once you've smashed one. Buy the miners hat if you haven't already, it's got a light on the top for when you're digging deep. Keep opening treasure chests, eventually you'll get the magic mirror which you can use to teleport back to your base. You set the spawn point by clicking on a bed. Go to the guide and ask him about crafting, you can put things in the box and he'll tell you what can be crafted with it, there might be some nice kit in there you don't have.

In terms of NPC's the rooms have to be a certain size, and contain a bed and chair, and a light iirc. I think you can check if a room is valid by pausing. You'll also need to put a back wall in there, otherwise it won't be a valid room. If the room is dark without a torch in there, then you've got it right. It's all on the wiki. The crystals might well be emerald, can't remember which pick you'll need to mine those, but you can come back to them later. They might be something else though, because emerald is usually fairly deep. As above, just keep going down to find better ores, just remember to have enough wood platforms and torches to be able to get back to civilisation. You'll find drops in chests down there which will really help you, and once you've emptied the chest, you can remove it with the hammer and take it back to the surface.
  13. It's live now on PC at least. I had a play with Ana last night, but I wasn't particularly impressed. I know its early days but the healing didn't seem very good, the dot didn't seem very good, and you have to actually be able to shoot your target to heal/poison them. It's too tricky to hit the intended target in the middle of a firefight sometimes. I'm sure with practice it would become easier, but she seemed like a weaker version of a sniper and a weaker version of a healer. I think I need to figure out where she fits.
  14. I had that the other night, the other team was on the objective ready to cap it when it unlocked. I was reinhardt and was pushing into the room with my shield up, and my whole team was behind me. Nothing. Nobody moved, they all stayed outside the room and I got minced by the entire enemy team. Though I did die after I pinned the healer and took out another one with the hammer. I'd normally play roadhog as tank, because it doesn't need as much co-ordination, if there are people on the cap I can pull them out and kill them. I don't have to rely on other people that can't seem to figure out the absolute basics of the game.
  15. That's roadhog's ultimate, you can shred a turdborg and his turret simultaneously if you're close enough.
  16. 1 : Dimahoo - Really off the wall, reminds me of george duke, I'd love to hear you go full on jazz nutso with this. Not sure about you, but I don't have the knowledge and the technique to send it into the stratosphere but I was imagining some mind-bending improvisation over the top of this. It sounds great. EDIT : Reminds me a bit of dexter wansel 2 : Sie - Very tasteful, I like the insistent piano when the sun rises over the earth, and they see the rescue craft. At least, that's what I imagine is happening, and it's put across so well. 3 : Macosx - Really nice and crisp, but I'd take the delay off the drums. I think you've got a good drum break, but it gets a bit mushed by the delay. Can you add in another snare hit where it's needed in your software to recreate this sound but tightening everything up? I guess it's a break, because the hihats are all going through the delay as well. Sounds nice!
  17. I've pulled him in a couple of times, maybe it was just as he dropped the shield. I did read that you can shoot down the shield, then he's useless. So the butch russian tank lady should be a good counter, as her weapon does more damage as more damage is absorbed. I'll try pulling him through the shield again and see if I can reproduce it.
  18. Roadhog is great, if you've got a Reinhardt with the shield up, and a load of people hiding behind it, you can just pull him in and let your team mince him.
  19. I just added a load of people from this thread as friends in battlenet, I'm Roogas#2209 if anyone's wondering why they got a random friend request today.
  20. I didn't think anyone else would be interested, even though I enjoyed reading about yours, and watching the videos of you stalking people with the combat knife. It probably says more about me than you! I think the seraph ones will be the trickiest mainly because you've got to be precise with the gun, whereas things like the purifier and the scythe you can just cheese through them. Also they'll be rock hard to get in hardcore. Kill confirmed seems to be the best place for earning scorestreaks with combat focus. If you take the lowest scorestreaks and pop combat focus before picking up a couple of tags you'll probably get 3 scorestreaks in one go. I've got three in a few matches, but just fallen short of getting 4. I liked your sniper video above using a care package as bait. I used to do that in MW3, and I even managed to drop a second care package on someone's head while they were trying to steal the first one.
  21. I finished mine off on Saturday night, I miss the progression of unlocking things so I might have to finish off gold armour for the specialists. Still got to do gravity spikes, both for seraph and both for prophet, the rest are done.
  22. I've heard him before and he reminds me of Ned from groundhog day : 'Watch out for that first step, it's a DOOOOZY!'
  23. I find that the pace and the distances in kill confirmed are better for knife, but it sounds like you'll get them pretty soon in TDM. I'd head back into normalcore for knife streaks though, if you're still in hardcore.
  24. In kill confirmed people can't hang back because you've got to get forward to confirm the kill, no snipers or campers for the most part. It's generally a bit more of a close up game, and for every knife kill you'll automatically collect the tag. You'll get 50 points for the kill and 100 for the confirm so you can get big scorestreaks out if you play carefully. You can pick people off as they try to pick up tags, get their tags, and then deny the kill that they got as well. It's a different feel to TDM. I usually use the ripper for kill confirmed, and I've got an average of something like 6 kills per use of the ripper thanks to kill confirmed. Give it a bash!
  25. Once you unlock them, try a red dot and fast mags on that last sniper. It's super satisfying to run around with it like an AR, but obviously it's safer to do that in normalcore. For your bloodthirsties on the knife have you tried kill confirmed? One of the gold challenges for knife can be a pain, stab someone, take their gun and then kill that player with their own gun 5 times. I got 4 in one match by killing this guy, then hiding in different corners of the same room. He'd charge in looking for revenge and I'd get him again with his own gun.
