  1. Thought Deadstream was great fun. Reminded me of Dashcam with the constant viewers comments onscreen and the annoying lead character. Some good scares and schlocky effects. A solid 3.5/5 for me.
  2. I really like the look of Deadstream, gonna check that out for sure. There's one called 'Significant Other' out today as well, getting decent reviews.
  3. The Age of Innocence https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106226/?ref_=nm_flmg_dr_40 A tale of nineteenth-century New York high society in which a young lawyer falls in love with a woman separated from her husband, while he is engaged to the woman's cousin. This is a Martin Scorsese film made in the middle of his 90’s hot streak that contained Goodfellas, Cape Fear and Casino. But is a million miles away from those films in tone and aesthetic. It’s set at the end of the 1870’s in the last years of ‘old’ New York. Daniel Day-Lewis plays Newland Archer, a lawyer who’s engaged to Winona Ryder. They live a pretty staid life of opera and dinner parties. Into this existence comes Count Olessa (Michelle Pfeiffer) – recently separated from her European husband and back in New York trying to get her life back on track. There’s an immediate attraction between Olessa and Archer but the social codes of the day mean they’re both stuck and unable to act on their feelings. I thought this was really excellent and a total change of pace from Scorsese at that stage of his career. The three leads play their roles perfectly - Michelle Pfeiffer and Winona Ryder have never been better. It’s one of those films where you have to infer the meaning from the dialogue because so much is left unsaid. It has a great look to it and feels like it captures the reality of the era, just at the start of the ‘modern’ age. It’s two hours long but never feel slow or sluggish. A sad-banger from the best to ever do it. 4.5/5
  4. That pass from De Bruyne for Haalands 2nd was outrageous.
  5. Peter Walton (yeah, I know) said it was red and I think I agree - studs up and nowhere near the ball.
  6. It feels exactly like that - just waiting to get done on the counter. Frustrating half, should have scored at least one more. Odegaard needs to realise not every pass needs to be one for the YouTube reel and just play the simple pass when it's on.
  7. Multiple chances to get the ball clear before the foul. That pissing around at the back is so frustrating.
  8. Feels like Netflix are missing a trick by not releasing the new Wednesday Adams show for Halloween.
  9. I watched Shark Bait last night. A better than expected 'pretty people vs. shark' film that plays out like all of these films do. 5 teenagers steal jet-skis and sail them out to sea. They crash the boats and are stranded miles out from shore - then the shark turns up. Some good gore and decent tension make this a bit better than the usual entries in this genre. 3/5 for shark film fans. 1.5/5 for everyone else.
  10. This season has been hit after hit. I thought the new one was great. A clever idea (a little bit similar to the Me-Seeks maybe) that played out nicely.
  11. Speak no Evil is definitely for you.
  12. Seeing that Lewandowski touch for their goal in person was worth the night I'd say.
  13. There's a season 2 part 2 (or tranche 2 as Alan calls it) coming - another 11 episodes. Alan suggests you might need to spend another credit it to get it though. Finished this up over the weekend and really enjoyed it. The strongest episodes were the first ones and there weren't many laughs in the later episodes but it's all Alan. The pot-holing and wild-swimming chapters were the funniest.
  14. Saw Bodies, Bodies, Bodies today - a group of annoying zoomers (and Lee Pace for some reason) are trapped in a house during a thunder storm and one by one they're killed off. This was pretty good. It balances the violence and comedy nicely. And the characters are all very annoying so when they start getting murdered it's a lot of fun. It's well shot, there's a great soundtrack and there's enough mystery to keep it interesting. Probably not worth a trip to the cinema but this was a good effort. 3.5/5
  15. All the video game stuff was really well done. Mortys pathetic Interstellar video-message was so funny. I loving that they've pretty much dumped the meta-verse stuff (up to a point) and are concentrating on smaller plots this season.
  16. Watched a new film tonight, Do Revenge. It's about a popular high school girl who loses her status at the top of the food-chain after a sex tape leaks. So she teams up with a new girl in school to get revenge on everyone responsible - a teenage version of Stranger on a Train. It's a swing at the Mean Girls/Heaters high school revenge genre, and I had a really fun time with it. Camila Mendes is the lead and she's great - proper funny and able to do serious when it's needed. It's nice to see her get a proper gig after Riverdale. The rest of the cast are fine and there's some fun cameos - unfortunately you can see that sometimes the actors aren't in the same room as each other so it comes over a bit cheap. I don't know if that's a Netflix thing but I can't remember seeing it in films on other services. It's has a great DayGlo aesthetic with the contrast turned right up and the outfits are fab. There's a very good soundtrack, except for the denouement they use a Fatboy Slim song that really doesn't work. It probably overstays its welcome but I dug it. 3.75/5
  17. Might be worth a visit to https://www.doesthedogdie.com/ to see what triggering stuff happens. There are spoilers on that page though.
  18. That second goal was pure class. The ball in from Xhaka and the header were superb. Very impressed after 30 minutes.
  19. Yeah, Speak No Evil was something. Pure tension all the way through then a nightmare ending. I felt like there was a lot of Dutch/Danish-relations themes and references that I didn't get but that didn't take away from the experience. Recommended for sure if you want to feel bad. Skip the trailer.
  20. Lidls version of Ben and Jerrys 'Phish Food' is pretty much identical to the original. It's called 'Fantastic Fish'.
