  1. Were you not pretty much always prepared after the first couple of times though because they were so sign-posted, even before the camera pulled back? It became a case of just popping a flare (there always seemed to be flares after the first episode or so).
  2. Was it Lee Van Cleef who modified his guns in the Good, Bad and Ugly to fire further? That'd be pretty cool.

    FIFA 10

There is an issue with tackling and more specifically super defenders. Against the AI particularly you will frequently get barged off of the ball unless you happen to be playing with a monster up front. Even then the AI will generally come out of most challenges with the ball (in my experience). Online there can be a balance issue with some teams. Even players who are not known for being especially strong or fast will probably be if they play for a certain club. I believe the through ball is popular (and maybe even a bit to reliable) for creating chances but I normally play a short passing game and knock it about until an oppurtunity arises to pass it into someone on the edge of the box.
  4. I'm sure it would have been a lot more tense without this. Maybe some audio cue instead. The only time I jumped was when the Taken
  5. ? If so I had the same at 1080p. Up until then it had been super smooth.
  6. No, you said 95% which is just as far off. This facepalm business if infectious by the way. Would 3 facepalms be your Uncharted 2 and 2 facepalms your Alan Wake. Similar, but not enough for some.
  7. Yeah I see what you are saying (and thanks for the response with some meat on the bones) but I personally felt that the base game mechanics were similar to the extent where it felt like Uncharted 2. Controlling a male lead in a 3rd person from one combat and set piece trigger to the next. Alan is less fantastical than Drake but the games play very similarly.
  8. Really, what like FIFA, Mario Galaxy or any one of the numerous other titles that don't share the description? The two games are from the same genre, regardless of tone.
  9. As idiotic as forming an opinion on something based on absolutely nothing then I guess? I'd much rather give my opinion on a game based on its contemporaries.
  10. If everyone is comparing the two, there must be something in it. They are both story driven, combat heavy, exploratoy action games with a sprinkling of puzzle elements.
  11. I've slogged through to Chapter 5-6ish ( ) and average stalks this like a Taken (even then its only stalked averagely). It just doesn't do anything much that raises it above standard fare. The plot, writing and acting, which are probably the games key elements, are muddled and confused. Sometimes the blank look on Alan's face must mirror my own. The manuscripts were certainly a clever idea and worked to a certain extent, but the confusion thats going on within the game does them no favours at all. Some of the dialogue and acting are cringingly poor. Its all very fragmented and none of it is helped by the repetitive nature of the gameplay and environments. I must have spent 70% of my game time in the same forest, at night shining a light at the same Taken with little variation. I ended up dreading the next implausible reason why I was left in a forest, at night, on foot. Although the sandbox side of the game was cutback/removed it was very disappointing to not be able to maybe wander the town during the day, if only to add some character to the place. There's nothing wrong with the gunplay as such but its only functional. The and what not were good fun, and were actually more eerie than the Taken (which haven't been really at all). Sign-posting their arrival was a big mistake and the only time I felt any threat or dread (playing on hard) was when I lacked a gun and had to rely on my wits and the light. This was when the game was at its best. The lack of light orientated puzzles much beyond trying to get a generator running or moving a lamp was a massive missed oppurtunity. It also looks a pale shadow of the game we've seen in screenshots for years now. The protracted development time has hit this hard but even so I expected better. A large percentage of the textures seem last gen and murky, even outside of the "the taken are coming" signposts. There are many other small niggles from games past but nothing thats not still prevelant in many titles. To try to balance it out a bit the draw distance is impressive and on occasion the vista's are beautiful. There was the odd moment where the combat was tense, pretty much always in the sections where you are defending an area against waves of Taken. The for example. Unfortunately for Alan Wake things have moved on and it is crushed under-foot by something like Uncharted 2 in pretty much all area's.

Has Arsene ever sold anyone of note at anything other than a huge profit? Might be wrong but look at Overmars, Toure, Adebayor, Petit, Anelka and Vieira for example.

Not sure if its been mentioned but was I right when I heard the Mirror hack on Arseblog saying that there will be changes in the medical staff next season? I guess you could read into that that the clubs injuries are not average across the rest of the league.

Yeah even when it was so close, I didn't think that we were realistically going to do it. The injuries more than anything took their toll. The experience we lacked that you mention we had in the forms of Gallas, Fab, RvP and Arshavin but weren't available to us.

We were in it until a few games ago. I don't think better results against Blackburn and Wigan would make much difference ultimately be we did really well to be so close.

It partly that but not as important as other things for me.

In that case I think we would need to concentrate on doing that at the expense of other things for one season. I personally don't think it would make things better in the long run but you might be right. No win for Arsene though as fans would still moan.

Campbell, Diaby, Song, Vermaelen. Sagna doesn't muck about either. We've all seen Diaby, when he can be bothered, strength 2-3 players off of the ball on his own.

We will also be playing in the CL as well which is a massive drain on resources. Unless you qualify early, pretty much every game is a must not lose to a must win. Huge pressure. The Barcelona games basically killed the season off for us. I think its unrealistic to expect to challenge on those fronts. Arsene is right in that its PL first domestically then CL qualification. Anything else is nice of course but not essential.

Things would just have been worse surely? Even ManU played some youngsters in the Carling. Chelsea seem to be the only team that can try and compete on four fronts, mainly because their bench is as good as most PL teams first 11.

Not possible. The squad can barely get through the season concentrating on the PL and CL.

Before our recent bad patch, Song had played in pretty much all of the games we have lost this season so I agree. The recent bad run has been as much about a lack of effort than a lack of Song. The Spurs, Wigan and Blackburn games were all there for the taking with a bit more application. Its far too easy to pick out games where goalkeeping errors have cost us points. I'm not sure it will be addressed though as Arsene is sounding very stubborn on this one.
