I'd love Bob to have stayed and agree it would have been great to have him around, and as far as anyone knows we offered him a one year contract. He wasn't happy and we stood our ground, what can you do. I think that Henry would have gone the season before but Arsene talked him into staying as it would have been to big a transition for the younger players. Especially moving to the new ground as well.

A lot of the questions are contentious rubbish just looking to get a reaction. They are the sort of nonsense that you read on forums day in day out. How many other clubs managers have to put up with the sort of nonsense Arsene does? I don't think he is a God at all but after 30 years a Gooner, the last ten have been the best since I've been a supporter. So we haven't won a trophy for four seasons. Liverpool haven't won a PL title ever. While we are going through a period of no silverware, that's life. We don't have any right to win anything. I also wouldn't call a 21 game unbeaten in the PL and a semi in the two biggest club cup competitions in the world shit but I guess our expectations are different.

Really? There were heavy rumours (in fact I believe he was quoted as saying as much) that he was in the middle of a divorce with his wife and needed a fresh start. He also said that he would only ever leave Arsenal for Barcelona. His head wasn't right either. His attitude was coming out more and more on the field and for me, it was the right time, mostly for him as a player and man.

To be frank, thats typical F365 modern day media garbage. I'd be embarrassed for the club if some of those questions were put to Arsene Wenger.

Pires has been great in a less demanding league physically than the Premiership. Henry will always be class whatever. I don't think this changes the fact that in some of these cases the player also makes decisions and certainly in Henry's case, he felt it was time to go.

I'm not sure why this means anything much. This guy could have signed anyway regardless of who else comes in. If he is a talent then why not.

I'm not sure why Wenger gets so much flack for the players that left when there are so many other factors involved. Pires was offered a one year contract for example, which was club policy for a 30+ player, but wasn't happy with that. He also said some daft things after being sacrificed in the CL final when we went down to 10. There seemed to have been a big drive to cut the wage bill as well.

And thats how it should be surely? What right do we as Arsenal fans think we have to compete with teams who throw tens of millions around for fun? It seems pretty unrealistic and Arsene has put us in this position where we think we should be. Saying that we pretty much outplayed Chelsea on Sunday but couldn't hit a barn door for toffee and their goals were well, pretty shocking. Either ourselves or the ref should just have kicked them into the net and had done with it. The ManU game was an eye opener but there was a certain amount of bad fortune. Had Gibbs not fell I think the game would have been at least more competitve (although I'm not saying we would have won). Most seem to agree that one or two good players in certain areas are needed to put us on a more even keel so I really don't think its that bad.

Ideally. Lose Ade, bring in a recognised CB (Hangeland/Cahill/lUCIO) and CM (Alonso/Senna). Al Sagna Bill Toure/New bloke Clichy The0wn Cesc New Bloke Nasri/Arshavin Arshavin/RvP Edu/Bendy

Last season we almost won the PL. I don't think the season has been a great one this year overall. Chelsea have under-achieved in the league and all of the top four have had periods where they haven't looked great. ManU went through a period where they were scrapping games by the odd goal and Liverpool edged quite a few points in the dying minutes of games. I think thats been the difference, those draws we had, especially the one's where we had the chances to bury the games but didn't. I agree we do need a bigtime CB and CM, but I don't think it'll happen. Arsene has already given us the "We will sign one or maybe two new players" line and talked of the team not needing major investment. Same lines he used last season. Its a fine line and I think this same team could give the other three a run for their money without any new signings if key players, which seem to be our achilies heel, stayed fit. Arshavin is looking likely to have a big impact next year as well.

I think its easy to forget the situation the club was in when Arsene took over. We had won nothing for 5-6 years and the type of football the club was playing, even with some of the players we had, was pretty poor. From a footballing perspective the Graham years were also dark one's albeit fairly successful. Arsene's advantage initially was that he brought all of these new ideas to the PL. Training, fitness, diet, scouting etc. For a long time all of the other clubs were playing catchup and it was really only the blossoming youth at ManUtd (Beckham etc) and their money that prevented us from dominating during that period. What Arsene was good at (and still is) was spotting potential and then nurturing it. I honestly don't believe that the likes of Paddy, Petit, Overmars, Henry, Anelka and the like would have reached such a level without him. I think most of them have actually stated this. He is also great at spotting when a players time is up. Although they moved onto historically bigger clubs, players like Vieira, Petit, Overmars, Gilberto, Lauren etc didn't reach the same level as they did at Arsenal. Although its early days the same could be said of Hleb and Flamini. I don't think the team is far off of winning something although we do need some experienced cover at CB and CM. We also don't really know whats going on financially. Some say we have money to spend, some say we haven't. Its probably in the middle. We have money to spend but not to make wholesale changes with and we need to be shrewd. It'll be interesting if the Usmanov rumours are true and funds are freed up for players, whether it gets spent or not.
  12. I've noticed a big change in the last 10-15 years, mainly due to having a family etc. I have far too much stuff now that doesn't get used. I keep saying to myself that I must play this or that soon but never seem to get around to it. I'm a bit of a collector though so its not too much of a problem but I do struggle to keep up. It just gets to a point where you have to take it on the chin although I think in the future, things will reverse. One of my lads is off to University this year and the other is currently in secondary and I can still see myself gaming for many years to come. One of the + points is having someone to co-op with of course. My wife has no interest in games at all which doesn't help. I tend to rush through games now more than I used to. Fallout 3 is probably the only current gen game that kept me playing for a long period of time. I have a backlog of new and retro games I want to play and split my time between them. Then there are the favourites that I crack open every so often. I guess the way to look at it is that they will always be there and I will get to them eventually.

In hindsight it would have been for the best but on the back of the season he had we had to hold onto him. He is still our second highest goalscorer this season even with some time off injured but even so, there needs to be a big change in attitude on the pitch.
  14. The gameplay was still pretty generic though do you think? Kill x. Give x to y. Presentation and storyline were spot on though.

I don't think we really need him now. RvP, Arshavin, Bendtner and Edu should all be getting in the first 11 ahead of him if it wasn't for injuries.

No, but he did have an amazing season footballing wise.

Its amazing how a footballer can go from hero to zero in one season. Last season wasn't a fluke I don't think. He would run and run all day long, he would terrorise defenders and finished well with both his foot and head. Its almost as though he has taken a concious decision to just not give a shit. Shame as I think we have missed his contribution this season. Its no coincidence that we have been off of the title pace in comparison to last season. I think it would be best for everyone, including him, if he went but it looks as though Arsene will need to make that decision for him now.
  19. In UO all you were able to fight was wildlife for a while and EQ was well known for its rats.
  20. Phew just got one. Only 6 hrs to go. I feel a fake somethingorother coming on
  21. I'm not so sure about that. Sure, a lot of the community aspect isn't, but in something like EQ, you start off whacking beetles and as the game progresses the beetles just get bigger. More strategies become apparent as you level up, I remember my Druid first getting SoW in EQ, but ultimately killing x beetles is pretty constant.
  22. My first 10 hrs in UO and EQ were spent in a bewildered fog but it was exciting. I died constantly at first (mostly to PK's in UO) and the discovery and feeling of never really knowing what was round the next corner was a thrill and those early hours were special. Mostly because you were left to work it all out for yourself or talk to other players. Now I greet each MMO release with apathy. I try every new one, hoping to recapture that feeling, but to no avail. Reading the review I recognised some things that made my heart leap. It sounded like those early days. Maybe this was where the reviewer struggled. I imagine anyone brought up on the MacDonalds style of MMO we have now, especially WoW, would be shocked to go and play something like UO afterwards.
  23. I think the fella is simply buying his first house and its deposit money.
  24. No probably not at all. Nice thought though. Which leads me to pick up the point about who is buying the mag. As a retro gamer I have my favourite systems but can't imagine that anyone gaming at that moment in time would not recognise Y's now. Sure it was very Japanese, but I remember seeing it covered in more mainstream mags. One of the best things about the mag is coming across stuff I've never heard of. I wouldn't be put off by a cover that featured a game I was unaware of. I wonder what percentage of buyers are regular as opposed to those who just pick it up in Smiths if the cover stirs fond memories.
  25. Well worth a feature indeed. With a Y's cover as well? I'd be all over that.
