  1. Also, can I say farewell Boobni. It's been a pleasure playing with you and you'll be sorely missed. Well, I say sorely missed, but for every MASSIVE CLEARANCE there was all those 'experimental' throw-ins.
  2. That's right, a 2-1 loss is exactly what we put our minds to. P.S. You cut me deep man, you cut me real deep.
  3. I highly recommend playing when drunk. It's like added lag, but because we've all suffered it, you start compensating for it. Also having very good US players on your friends list to pick up the slack helps.
  4. Go on the Winch! I feel like a fringe player at Man City last summer - excited by the countless new signings (well 'two'), worried I'm losing my place and laughing on the inside because it's Mark Hughes' tactical brain that'll be managing them.
  5. Well, I have very much enjoyed my time at United. I can honestly say that the banter has been directly inversely proportional to the actual in-game skill. I would say well played boys, but we've spent most of our on pitch time concentrating on bickering.
  6. I'm pretty certain I've never seen a comedy that runs longer than 2 hours and not feel 'long'. I'm not saying it can't be done, but it's a regular occurrence with Hollywood comedies recently, they seem to suffer from the whole 'cram in a big moral message' thing. And I totally agree with everything else that you said, it's just that it really didn't know what it wanted to be. Like the first scenes with Sandler with him getting ready in the morning and going to the doctors to get the news - are from a drama. But the next couple of scene with Seth Rogan talking to his ex-con workmate at the sandwich bar ("You were so unfunny last time, you bored my wife to sleep, I didn't get no pussy." "Hey man, don't blame me for your pussy issues") and then all the stuff about Jason Swartzman's Granddad and the candle - there all totally from a comedy. And there's no reason that the two can't mix - About Schmidt did it fantastically. But this felt a little disjointed. If it is trying to be a drama with funny bits in then it really goes out of it's way to hide that; Helmed by a Director who's only ever done comedies, starring two actors who are only ever in comedies (has Sandler even done a drama before?), full of that improved-exchange thing Apatow does all the time, it's even called Funny People, you can see why I took it to be a comedy. All that sounds quite harsh. Just to clarify I did actually really enjoy it - it just outstayed it's welcome a tad. Which was frustrating because it's a good film.
  7. If there's drinking going on, count me the fuck in. I've got plenty of Bailey's Makers Mark Bourbon left from Christmas to be mixed with creme de menthe and an umbrella drunk straight like a real man.
  8. That's a shame, I really enjoyed this. I found that it was more about Tommy Lee Jones' character - the murder he was investigating seemed to be just a backdrop for his tale. You are right about one thing though, go into expecting No Country/3 burials and you'll be sorely disappointed, it's nothing like them. Funny People For god's sake, what is wrong with Hollywood comedies? Why do they all insist on being way too long? It's very simple. If you make a comedy, make it less than two hours. If you make a film that's not an ensemble piece - make it less than two hours. This is yet another film that's really funny for 90 minutes then just drags for another hour where the character has to have everything come to a head, get into a slump, realise he's in said slump, start getting himself out of said slump, learn a life lesson, finally get out of said slump... JUST GET ON WITH IT AND STOP FORGETTING ABOUT THE JOKES. It also suffers slightly from not really knowing what it wants to be - it jumps between Heartfelt tragy-comemedy and screwball improved frat boy film, often in the same scene. It's a shame because there's a really funny film in there. Also, Eric Bana is brilliant. World's Greatest Dad Robin Williams plays a failed writer and English Teacher who's teenage son is a massive prick to him. Directed by Bobcat Goldthwait (Him with the silly voice of the Police Academy films), this is wonderful. Ignore the terrible title that makes it sound like a film Eddie Murphey passed on, it's actually a bittersweet comedy, much in the vain of a Wes Anderson film, it has that same slightly detached feeling Anderson does so well. Very funny in places and Williams is superb. Highly Recommended.
  9. Alright then, I've just got this and my dad very kindly bought me the wheel for Christmas. I've played an hour or so of single player to give it a go, but I take it the career mode isn't what most people are getting into? Much the same as MW2 SP vs MP? Where do I start? What should I be doing? What should I be racing? I'm going to head back through the thread for a read over the next couple of days.

  11. I went to the Casino tonight and sat at the table for 5 hours completely card dead. Like I've never seen in my life. I even had 23offsiut five hands in a row. I played total 11 hands. I didn't win a single one of them. Not one. Despite having two straights and THREE sets. So I come home and put Pokerstars on to unwind a little and actually play some poker. Look at this utter filth. 12. Yeah, there's been a bit of a case of "The Red Rings of the Ryman's". Me and Scoooooot will be playing today, but of course I'll then be the first team on 16 games played. So it doesn't really help.
  13. Well massive apologies for missing last night. I was going to say I felt really bad for letting the team down, but then I saw the scores. Clearly my absence hit about as hard as an abuse victim fighting off her attacker when deep down really enjoys it.
  14. I should be on, might be a bit closer to 10 than usual, but I should make it.
  15. Best NDS Game Scribblenaughts Best Xbox 360 Game Modern Warfare 2 It JUST pips ODST for me, but only just. Halo: ODST The single player was fantastic in every way - surprised about the lack of love for it on the forums. Fifa 10 Might have been Forza 3, but I haven't spent any time with it yet. Best Online Experience Modren Warfare 2 The immense depth in what is 'just a shooter' is unrivaled. Battlefield 1943 18 players, loadsa vehicles, easy to pick up and play - wonderful Fifa 10 Worthy of inclusion thanks to the 10v10 Be a Pro mode - too much fun. Best Download-only Game Battlefield 1943 1 vs 100 'Splosion Man Best Technical Achievement Battlefield 1943 - fabulous port. Forza 3 - The Graphics - mine eyes! Fifa 10 - again, the 10v10 but also the depth in what is 'just a footie game'. Hall of Shame Pro Evo 10 - How can a series that was the pinnicle of it's genre get progressively worse 4 years in a row? Hasbro Family Games (Xbox Live version) Charging for each 20-year old board game seperately? Weak. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - Autobots/Decepticons (DS) A shitty movie tie-in. The same game, but with each faction on a seperate cartridge being charged full price- and aimed at the kids. SHAME ON YOU. Most Wanted Game Of 2010 Crackdown 2 Halo Reach - I wasn't bothered, but then I played ODST. Battlefield 2 Game of the Year Modern Warfare 2 Halo: ODST Fifa 10 Game of the Decade Halo: CE - Revolutionary. Immersive. Gripping. Everything about Halo is a joy. Those who poo-poo it are always those who missed out on it's 16-player split screen system link - to this day the finest multiplayer experience of all time. COD: MW2 Yep it's still new. But it's better than COD 4, and COD 4 would be here otherwise. Football Manager (2007 if I have to specify) Difficult to pick just version as the changes between them can be minimal, but a truly fabulous game I've lost far too much of my life to.
  16. I was on last night with Kerraig, Timmo, Spazmok3y, Tony Play, Biscuitpow3r and Little Joe - it was easily one of the most fun session I've ever had. Because everyone's trying to get the nuances of this game down, I'd forgotten about the lulz that arise from just being in a party with a bunch of your mates. Some cracking insults flying around and the joint celebration that was had the game we pulled victory from the jaws of defeat (getting pwned in domination - we managed to grab all three flags with the score at 145-187 and win 200-199 ) - such a laugh. I'm on again after the RLLMUK kick-about see you all about 5? I couldn't agree more. The only thing I think is unbalanced is the range akimbo shotguns seems to have - I've been one shot killed on Highrise stood on top of the liftshaft next to the massive gas canister when the akimbo dude was inside the office building that holds 'C'. That's nearly half the map. Granted it is the smallest map, but still. Apart from that, all the weapons seem useful to some degree - we just half to learn how to combat all the builds. And for the record for everyone that ever plays with me - I'm aware that I can sound like a right moany bastard. However, I'd like to point out that 60-70% of the time I cry "ah that is HORSESHIT", it's nothing to do wth lag, glitches or cheap classes - it's because I got killed when I make a mistake and I'm really frustrated at my self.
  17. Last night was atrocious for lag - however we still managed to win against several teams when we were all on 2 bars. That's a massive fail on their part. And I shot down a chopper with a nube tube. B) Even though it was horribly unpayable and I was tired (and a bit shit), it was still enormous fun. I bloody love this game.

  19. Sorry dude, it must have been the headset mic! I am a dirty southerner though so all accents north of London sound the same to me. As for that penalty, let's hand it over to a REAL Scotsman: "They sae it alweeys looks wurse in tha repleey, but that's STOOONWALLL. STOOONWALLL."
  20. Dude, you should put up the video of that penalty shout - if you lose the title by one point you can point to it and type IN CAPS LOCK about the bullshit in the game.
