Just to add more salt to the wounds, I’ve gone to boot up the game this evening and I’m getting an error:

    AF236462-68FA-4F52-8193-B2399976AF5C.thumb.jpeg.16b8c95598d1de3fad6463ba6558e06b.jpeg

Tried deleting cache and saved data but nothing’s worked. Currently reinstalling the game, just to re-live that launch day pain…

Exactly the same for me here after the update installed and I’m also having to reinstall. :(

  2. A little update, the download took ages and has only just finished.  The PS5 did go into rest mode once when I was in a meeting so was maybe off for about an hour tops.  I'd estimate that, for whatever reason, the in-game update took about 2 and a half hours and my internet connection is normally pretty fast (I've just done a speed test and got 81.50 Mb/s).

Just be prepared for music rally if your first experience is anything like mine!

  3. I've had quick play over lunch.  I'm not sure this will be the same for the digital editions but it has a very slow in-game update.  The disc was fully copied over and I checked the game was up to date.  Upon starting the game you set your video and assist settings, it then starts downloading an in-game update.  While it's downloading you have three music rally courses you can play and that's it.  I played for about 40 minutes and it's maybe downloaded somewhere between a 1/4 and a 1/3 of the update.  I've had to leave the game and PS5 on now I've gone back to work so it can hopefully download the rest this afternoon.

Tracked with royal mail and they said it's delivered . Seems Sony's system takes an age to update . I can't be arsed staying on the phone for another hour to find out but guess I'll have too

I had to return a broken from new controller to them a month or two back that had a faulty touch pad. Royal Mail's tracking show it was delivered to them but the link Sony provided said they were still waiting for it. The whole process took ages (4-5 weeks) and the tracking link they provided was useless, I'm not sure it ever did update to say they received it or, if it did, it was just before they sent it back.  I actually received automated emails from the system reminding me to post it weeks after it had already arrived.

I'd called Sony support multiple times due to them not having acknowledged receiving it and receiving remember to return the item emails, they seemed to have another view and could confirm they did actually have it but couldn't provide any more details (like an estimate on when I'd get it back).

The whole process was a fair bit of hassle but the controller did eventually re-appear (well a replacement did).

Eh, did anyone else’s Nintendo Store dispatch confirmation include 5x poster/keyring/sticker sheet or was someone just relieved the day was over when they sent mine?!

Shat myself thinking they’d charged me for five at first then.

I don’t seem to have one that lottery and only got one of everything on my email. :( @Corranga also seems to be getting two of everything bar the game though.

Ah! Mine's still at "Ready for shipping" and hasn't been collected though.

Edit - It has manifested! Ominous!

Mines exactly the same, but if you copy the waybill number and use it on DPDs website you get more info which is possibly more up to date. On the Nintendo tracking link mine says ready to ship/ominously manifested but on the DPD site it’s we have your parcel, it’s on it’s way to local depot and due to be delivered on Friday.

Dispatched! Please allow 3-4 days for delivery!

Should they not have called it "The Tent" because it's full of clowns.

Oh, and it did just say one of each of the preorder bonuses, so, uh, enjoy your freebies Yasawas?

Mine has dispatched from the Nintendo store too. It doesn't seem to be from the hut any more but a company called Arvato UK in Birmingham. It has been sent next day via DPD who are estimated delivery tomorrow despite what the 3-4 day message suggests, you can enter the waybill number on DPD website and see your actual delivery ETA. :)

  8. I think whoever’s running the Nintendo store has changed in the last few months.  The website changed and is more inline with the general branding of Nintendo’s other websites and you can’t cancel orders without contacting them now. I think the store accounts and Nintendo accounts got merged too around the time the website changed.

My last order from them came in a fancier branded packaging, it looked like a normal cardboard game sized box on the outside but when you ripped it open it there was a full colour printed picture of Mario on the inside. I think it might actually be in-house or much closer to that now than when the hut group ran it.

How do you do this? I checked ‘general options’ but there are only options to turn photogrammetry on or off.

If anyone has figured out how to invert the external camera, I’d be grateful for a shoutout too.

I'm not playing at the moment but from memory the options were under the data settings of general options I think. I accessed them from the in game pause menu. Everest area was just covered Iow res white snow with them off, lots more rock detail with the settings on.

  10. It's probably already been mentioned but make sure you turn the high resolution texture streaming and photogrammetry on in the options. I'd forgotten about it and wondered why the Everest flight looked crap, it was a night and day difference with it on!

  11. I’ve had success with removing yellowing just using sunlight and no retro brite chemicals needs at all.  I’ve just left stuff on a sunny window sill in our conservatory for a while and seem significant improvement to a super famicom and a few controllers.  I’d recommend trying sunlight only before breaking out the chemicals.

Thanks, yeah that's what was happening. I managed to find the PAL and NTSC option under the hardware settings which solved it. It looks like I'll have to use PAL as the standard option as some games give you a warning that the game won't work which took me by surprise. I guess most games are just trial and error?

You might be able to find a list of PAL optimised games somewhere online, anything that's not been pre-optimised for PAL will run better (i.e. as the developers intended) at the 60hz setting.

I've mainly used my Super NT for NTSC games, bar the odd PAL game I've ran at 60hz anyway so not really had that many PAL related issues.

Sorry if this has been asked before but I'm trying to figure out what I need to tweak for Super Mario World, it tends to flicker when Mario moves across the screen. I'm using a PAL cart and the only option I tried so far is 1080p 50hz but that didn't make a difference. I don't know the options well enough to see what else would do the trick. I'm certain I saw an option to change to PAL and NTSC but I wonder if that was on firmware 4.9 before I updated it.

If by flicker you mean the pixels are shimmering a bit you need to enable horizontal interpolation in the video settings, this should remove shimmering with left-to-right movement.

  14. Pointless trailer but both the cars (Aston Martin and a Land Rover)were from (originally) British manufacturers... British Isles location confirmed? ;)

Though both cars seem to be left hand drive models and "solar crown" doesn't really fit with British weather so it's probably nothing, I just thought the choice of cars was a bit odd. :)

I'm quite tempted by a Neo Geo Arcade Stick Pro. I lusted after a neo Geo as a teenager, but was unable to afford one. Unfortunately the same still seems to be the case, so an arcade stick pro seems like a reasonably priced way of having a neo geo-ish experience, particularly with the hack that lets you put all the games on it.

The price from UK based retailers/sellers seems to be around £150, but from Amazon.com it comes to less than £100 including shipping. However, I don't know what the post Brexit importing situation is like. Am I going to get stung with fees if I import one from the US?

Double check what the actual amazon basket says but if you are buying from amazon direct (and not a marketplace seller) then they normally charge all duties up front. I’m pretty sure it normally says something along the lines of “includes fees and import duty deposit”.  I’ve bought a few things from amazon uk and Amazon japan and never had anything extra to pay, though I haven’t bought anything this year.
