  1. The Game Collection's let me down as there was no game or even a missed delivery card waiting for me when I got home, at least if it turns up tomorrow my initial play won't be disturbed by trick or treater's I guess!
  2. Physical version from Limited Run Games was waiting for me when I got home today.
  3. I think the back story to the first game was that Luigi had won the mansion in a competition (that he hadn't even entered and didn't realise was a trap) and we was rocking up to take possession.
  4. Ok thanks, it's just the one game. I made the order a few months back but I got a shipping number last Thursday but the tracking info has just sat on "In transit to carrier's US operations facility" since then.
  5. I'm waiting on an order of River City Girls from them, it's not arrived yet but I do remember when I ordered it said that any duty/fees were pre-paid so I'm not expecting any further charges when the game (finally) arrives. @striderOff topic but have you any idea roughly how long games tend to take to arrive in the UK from LR once you've got a shipping notification? (thanks!)
  6. I'm a bit torn on what I've seen of this based on Nintendo's promotional footage so far. I was actually starting to think it looked a bit crap and am still worried it's going to be too similar to the drawn out Luigi's Mansion 2 rather than the first game which I loved. I was considering cancelling my pre-order but Happy Console Gamer's video yesterday has given me a bit of hope so I had a google for some more thoughts from press who have the game already and Esquire's write up has actually made me a bit excited as the writer seemed to really like it: https://www.esquire.com/lifestyle/a29489555/luigis-mansion-3-nintendo-game-review/ (though I don't know how good Esquire stack up as a game's previewing source!)
  7. I've tried sonic 2 and agree it doesn't seem as bad as sonic 1 which is really strange. But I still maintain that that the lag in sonic 1 is really awful, even when compared to another open source emulator. I wonder why it would vary per game, I would have thought frames would drop or audio stutter rather than lag more if it was a performance issue?
  8. So despite having this preordered and getting the console on launch day I've only just plugged this in this evening. I've been reading people's impressions with interest and, if I'm honest, dismissing most of the negative comments as people being overly fussy. It turns out I was wrong to dismiss them as the audio lag really is awful. I'm genuinely shocked how far behind the video the sound is. I went back and tested the same game on a hacked PSX classic and the difference was night and day. My simple test was to load Sonic 1, on the first level stand next to a tree and press the jump button. Sonic reaches near the top of the tree/the peak of his jump before the jump sound effect plays. Repeating this on the PSX classic and the sound effect plays as sonic leaves the ground. For reference I had no issue with audio lag with either the nes or snes classic and if anybody thinks there isn't an issue I urge them to try this simple test and see what they think. I believe I've read elsewhere that this lag has been fixed via a hack that ups the CPU clock speed? The direction input is also really dodgy/overly sensitive on the menu screen and shouldn't have passed QA or shipped in that state. On more positive notes the hardware is lovely, the joypads feel good and the menu music is great. I can put up with the dodgy menu input but I'm not sure I can put up with the audio lag so may be returning the system. I'm slightly at a loss at why so many of the reviews for this have been so positive when audio lag is so pronounced, maybe the at games stuff was so bad this seems like a massive step up but, in my opinion, it still should be better than it is. It reminds me a bit of the PSX classic (though it's not as bad as that!) in that lovely hardware is being let down by the software.
  9. I've got a preorder arriving today but never owned a Megadrive myself. I had an Amiga growing up but my parents always seemed pretty anti console (I don't think they liked the cost of the games). I had a snes briefly at university and own a SuperNT now but I've never had any megadrive hardware at all, though I have owned a couple of the sega classics collections for various other consoles.
  10. I got Yoshi's Crafted World at launch and my son was about 4 and 3/4 then. He managed to finish the game (bar the extra harder levels that unlock post credits) with some help from myself when things got a bit too difficult. He has played a bit of Kirby Star Allies when he was 3 and 3/4 doing coop with my wife and myself also playing. We were able to carry him through the game but he was struggling a bit and I think he found Kirby a bit overly complex as Kirby has dozens of different abilities (based on what enemy Kirby swallows). I think your youngest will struggle with both games but should get some enjoyment out of them with you playing the tougher bits, 6 months time though and they should be getting on with Yoshi reasonably well.
  11. The Nintendo UK store dispatched mine yesterday evening and the Royal Mail tracking kicked in this morning stating it will be delivered tomorrow morning (fingers crossed!).
  12. I was woken up at 4.45 this morning by a gut wrenching text from my bank stating that they had identified suspicious activity on my card and blocked the payment for my limited edition order from the Nintendo UK store. I'm hoping it's sorted now but it's not been dispatched yet!
  13. I just saw this article on the BBC News website and figured it might be of interest to a few people on here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-47896612
  14. It's got USB connectors on the bottom edge labelled "1P" and "2P" which match the Neo Geo Mini as well as a headphone jack so it's clearly more than just an arcade stick. I assume they've stuck the Neo Geo Mini hardware minus the screen into this new form factor, I hope that means they've improved the video out quality on it. I'm a bit confused by the extra input buttons and the number of buttons on the right hand side so it looks like they are doing something a bit more that just a Neo Geo mini in an arcade stick but I'm not sure what. There's been talk of a new metal slug for a while and now it looks like an SNK character is coming to smash (that's possibly from Metal Slug) so I wonder if the new Metal Slug game will be on this console and it will offer some kind of online store?
  15. Do you know if Amazon.jp charge at the time of the order or when they ship?
  16. I like the simplicity/tidiness, but what's the sphere with legs, a subwoofer for the soundbar?
  17. Extra (expensive) controllers now up on Amazon uk too though the picture shows the Japanese colour scheme: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Turbo-Controller-Engine-Coregrafx-Electronic/dp/B07TFW2MYX/ref=sr_1_9?keywords=Pc+engine+mini&qid=1563596699&s=gateway&sr=8-9

  19. They've already announced a special edition Switch Lite for Pokémon Sword & Shield.
  20. Cost saving? It may only cost them a tiny amount extra per unit but when they sell millions the costs still racks up fast and company's do think about this. I remember working on a game years ago and the publisher wouldn't put a credits page in the game's manual despite the cost per manual being negligible (especially compared to HDMI out hardware and a cable!) and that's the reason they gave.
  21. Saves are stored on the switch console not the cart. I hope they get some sort of cloud saving system on the go to get round this and multiple consoles.
  22. Apparently this has sold out on PS4 in Japan (physical). I had a look on base.com and Amazon uk and they have sold out too so it's either selling well or the first run was tiny!
  23. I've just bought the "free" season past too, I think you have found an exploit or they always planned to have the season pass free for 5 days as their way of implementing the offer but haven't publicised it to stop people doing exactly what you've done! I purchased the game at release due to the free season pass and would have waited a while too if I'd known this! I can't see the same pack on Xbox though, only on PS4?
