  1. Quick update: I tried to solder a bit of wire across the resistors but everything is so small and piddly that it didn’t work unfortunately. I’m not sure how most people could do this without specialist equipment like a thin soldering iron, and special thin gauge wire/flux. Instead I bought an OTG adaptor and am now powering the USB via that. The initial install was a bit panicky as you have to insert the USB directly into the current limited port on the console itself, but once it was complete I immediately switched to the OTG and all is working well. Had a quick go on Tekken 3 which now runs so much better at 60hz and with the blurry bi-linear filter turned off!
  2. cheers, I thought as much as even though I’ve bought a more powerful 5v 2amp plug, the current limiter is always going to throttle the usb stick regardless. I’ll get the soldering iron out this weekend and try not to cock it up!
  3. Can anyone confirm if I need to perform the port 2 resistor soldering mod even when using a 'verified' USB stick for the latest Project Eris mod? People seem to suggest that if I use a Samsung FIT 128GB USB stick then it doesn't require doing any hardware soldering to remove the current limiter on the 2nd USB port. I presume that's because that particular Samsung USB stick requires a low power within the power range of the psclassic ports? Just wanted to double check, as I managed to completely corrupt the first Samsung USB stick I bought by powering the whole device with a 5v 1amp apple wall plug. As such, I've now ordered a 5v 2amp plug which is hopefully enough to power everything.
  4. Sometimes the QA people will point out various issues, but wether or not the devs take note and fix them is another issue entirely.
  5. I appreciate the guy’s effort, but transferring all the console’s bulk out into a metre long combined PSU and cooling supply doesn’t solve much. Interesting video though.
  6. Indeed, it’s nice to see drivers push the car hard despite their historic prestige. He looked a bit frustrated with himself afterwards, understandably so.
  7. Charles Leclerc has just fucked it and put his historic Ferrari in the wall. Looks like he was pushing it a bit considering it’s just parade laps
  8. yeah, I had assumed they would update automatically as well but they didn’t for me. still, at least everything is working now. I really like the football game mode from what I’ve played so far. It’s like a Rocket League lite.
  9. Had a quick go on bowling and badminton, both seemed really quite fun. Can’t seem to get tennis working properly though. I imitate the swing motion but my character throws the ball up but won’t actually hit it to serve. I reckon my 4 year old Joycons might need replacing. Edit: Updating the joycon controller software and recalibrating them has fixed the issue for me! Tennis now works perfectly! I’d highly recommend others doing the same in case they have similar issues as me.
  10. Very strange. Googling this shows people having the issue years ago but it seems random for people. I’ve been blasting times around Imola circuit for the last few weeks and nothing has been recorded at all. As bad as I am at racing simulators, I’ve definitely set a few valid laps I’m sure Maybe I’ll delete the game and reinstall to see if that fixes things…
  11. Does anyone else have issues with lap times not being recorded in single player mode? I’m playing on PS5 and have tried hot lap mode and practice mode, but it never seems to record my best lap times, nor does it seem to rack up any mileage on my player stats page…
  12. I'm hoping they will make it easy to upgrade from one tier to another, and back down again depending on what I want to play each month. For example I intend to stay on the Essential tier all year, but then upgrade to Extra for 1 month to try out Returnal, and then the following month revert back to essential tier once I've had my fill. If they can make that a seamless transition then they will get a bit more money out of me each time a new game hits the service.
  13. Has anyone else noticed how certain AI cars put the indicator on and move over to one side when racing around the Norschlieffe track?
  14. Bought this on an old school CD from HMV today, just like the good old days. absolutely adore this track:
  15. Yeah, Phil Spencer is very careful in his wording with a lot of things. He only says it’s sustainable, not profitable. They are aiming for a much larger audience in the future before it becomes profitable.
  16. In order for Sony to pull off a Gamepass equivalent, they’d need to burn through multiple years of cash to establish a loss leader, like MS have done over the last few years (and it’s still questionable wether GP has made an actual profit yet…). That’s only been possible for Xbox with the deep pockets of MS, all funded via Windows and MS Office sales rather than their gaming division. Something which Sony does not have the luxury of. As others have said, Sony’s gaming model is making a profit for them right now with premium games sold at RRP, similar to Nintendo, so they have a sound business model that doesn’t really need changing yet. This PSNow rebranding is just them setting a solid foundation in place, in case they have to move towards this style of service in the future.
  17. Couldn’t even boot to the anorexic offline mode if I wanted to
  18. Just to add more salt to the wounds, I’ve gone to boot up the game this evening and I’m getting an error: Tried deleting cache and saved data but nothing’s worked. Currently reinstalling the game, just to re-live that launch day pain…
  19. Perhaps you could try spraying electrical contact cleaner into the stick mechanism? Might just be heavy carbon deposits and debris gunking things up.
  20. Are you installing/downloading using the disc? If so, I had a similar issue where it estimated like 4 hours to fully install. Turns out you can disconnect the PS5 from the internet, then insert the disc and it will instal quicker using just the disc. Then you can reconnect to the internet and download the online patch afterwards, which works out quicker overall. All a bit backwards for a modern game and console, but that’s what I did…
  21. I wonder how Codemasters will be handling the new car designs in the next F1 2022 game? Presumably they wouldn't have access to any of the cars beforehand, so will now be frantically crunching to try and replicate them, only for the cars to look different again when they go racing in March. Still, at least it will make up for the lack of work they've done on the games for the last several years...
  22. Well if your being technical about it, then I could have bought it Saturday or Sunday as opposed to release day… Typical Rllmuk pedanticism.
  23. I bought this on release and think it’s fantastic. I really like the new minimalist HUD option, reminds me of Zelda BOTW where you can rely more on visual cues, as opposed to always having icons all over the screen. The visual detail is insane as well, like walking underneath tree canopies and having all these autumn leaves falling down. Rivers and streams also look beautiful, and it’s nice you can fully swim underwater (something I always wish BOTW had at the time). Maybe the thread is quiet because people are busy playing the game, rather than posting here or fearing spoilers.
  24. I have been playing through Deathloop over the last few weeks and not had an issue with using rest mode. I also have a 2TB official external hard drive plugged in. I do play the game in offline mode (no player-controlled Juliana invasions), which might help. Maybe if you're playing with online mode enabled it might cause problems?
  25. It’s going to be revision 1.0 of their new car. Expect a load of new bits and bobs during actual testing and the first race in March. They ain’t going to give everything away this early before the new season, I doubt any team will in their car reveals…
