They're generally "another mode" rather than a fix/improvement. Those would be the .01 and .5 increments, fixing score glitches and so on. Black Labels are whole other beasts. Different weapons/scoring mechanics/enemy fire/bullet cancelling... etc etc.

Black Labels are the special editions in a respect, and are somewhat "easier" though that's subjective as fuck because they're also 10x more mental. Play whatever you enjoy etc. The Black Labels tend to have some weird/fun mechanics and cancellations etc and the white labels (normals) are more a standard dodging affair, generally. Which DDP? DFK? BL is in some ways a bit easier; but selecting strong makes it "expert" unlike the original game, though i think you get autobomb. I forget, so I don't know why I wrote that, but the music is amaze.
  3. Definitely. I've had all sorts of problems getting set up, but it works fine now. I run the VGA to 15 kHz displays but indeed scan doubler screws things up and scanlines at core level can mess things up further (I cannot run scanlines on just the HDMI port, it screws the VGA too). Further cements why this is not "ready for prime time" but is a great bit of kit. I hope you get it sorted soon and am very interested as to the solution...
  4. Why is it on the 5V? I had mine on the 3.3 volt I believe. That's what it should be IIRC. As for the issues; I didn't have signal, just white noise. I plugged in the 3.5 jack and it worked. Took me a while to get everything working for my MiSTer on CRT. These are my settings:
  5. I know you're lacking picture, but I had issues until I plugged in a 3.5mm jack next to the VGA... *shrugs* How are the jumper pins set up on the IO board? What res is the TV/core?
  6. I/O board? Have you also plugged into the 3.5mm jack?

Shouldn't be that way at all dude. I am having no issues. Sounds like something going on with the convertor...?
  8. Has anyone ordered a Switch Pro yet?

Very interesting. I have 2 VSHG and one had a brook board in it but that’s elsewhere now, the other has some PS3/PC board that I want to replace. Maybe a switch-only board. I have too many sticks. LOL. However, that’s interesting as hell, because someone else had a similar issue IIRC.

Yeah just chatting with people about this. Ratings issue?
  11. I need to organise things similarly to how you guys do. can you show the file structure? Do you have your 0_favs for each core?
  12. Indeed, I did not mean "800 TVL pvms/bvms", the TVs that upscale to 1080i etc, often 16:9 but not always, are abysmal for any gaming that requires anything approaching a precision input. I was just trying to be helpful.
  13. Also, many "hi res" CRTs can often have pretty shit/slow processing so you actually get lag unlike a bog standard CRT.
  14. I too would like a way to keep up to date, but to have on the top level only my favourites. > 90% i wont play. Great discussion all round, guys.

Black labels are usually a bit more mental, but also allow more cancels and that kind of thing. I own deathsmiles I and II but have hardly played them at all.

Has to be both, for me. Both at 40 euro each, I would still get them. Such depth and fun. Sorry that's not helpful. Music is better in mushi

Actually, I love level 3 and its music! As for leaderboards, they're coming soon, not behind a paywall. On the xbox you have to be signed into live to use them

Well, the official beta phase only just started, so the eventual release depends on feedback and implementations etc, but I would be confident saying at least within 2021. As you know, weeks fly by and soon months! I might well stream some of the beta soon. I'd actually really like to play it on the cab but that would be quite an undertaking. I have at least tried it on CRT and it looks ace. Chimera Mode starts off more difficult, gets you 1 life only with no possibility for extends and does indeed loop endlessly, with the rank/dynamic difficulty spiralling out of control as it can't drop during a run. So yeah, that's usually the game that lasts the shortest, despite it having no end, technically/in theory

I have two, of the later era models (slim/elite) and at least they're much more reliable than the original 360. I hope that mine doesn't die any time soon, as it's the main way I play on my Astro City. Which also could die. Christ. I'm doomed! My sticks and brooks boards will outlast us all, I'm sure. The Switch, it's an interesting one. Once the successor is out, which won't be soon, will there be any backwards compatibility? Imagine if it was only with e-shop and not with the carts! Nightmare. You're right about DOJ. I like this game a lot but the 5pb port is slow as shit because they essentially emulated the PS2 game or something dodgy. Rather annoying tbh. I mean, there's emulation of it left right and centre, but I too, like proper releases. Would be amazing to be given the full M2 treatment... No, only in the hardest (chimera) mode. The main modes end after 4 loops; what the 4th loop looks like is determined by how well you play up until then. Some good points there, to which I agree. I think Live Wire are former cave staff from the c.a. 2012 exodus. I agree, they (cave) make their current bank with mobile, that's just the way it is. However, they are aware of their legacy, for sure. Thing is, I get some of this challenge. In order to get a "proper" release in the West, someone who "get's it" i.e. like me, needs to bridge the gap between the Japanese (it was at the Japanese NinE3) and the Western markets. Sure, it needs more fanfare, and more exposure. Plenty of people were hyper for Switch Pro, and if you show them a game that is essentially hard as fucking nails, they're not interested. Normies want their open world "adventure" games with 60+ hours for their 60 bucks. The West doesn't really get arcade games, to be honest. Racing games included. People wax lyrical about Sega Rally and how great it was, but a proper arcade port would "fail" commercially, compared to Forza 14 with 240 tracks and 540 cars.

Mushi might have an extra frame of lag, but unless you’re god tier you’re not noticing that. For 16.99 (euro) it’s a complete no-brainer for me. Sorry to bang on about this but when I first saw the Switch I wanted a few things: Dreamcast ports CAVE ports All told, things are shaping up nicely. I never thought DDP (DFK) would come to Switch. There’s the iOS version, the 360 version (I own Black Label too), and without a PC the Steam release wasn’t something I even realised existed for a long time. The Steam release was full of charge-backs (refunds) and has undersold (not even made them money, i hear) and completely (and rightly imo) put CAVE off the platform. Get Mushi on Switch. Get DFK. Get ESP2. If these sell well there’s a high chance more are coming. There’s the typical always unhappy vocal minority complaining “where is my Pink Sweets” or “Ibara” or whatever obscure game they want. First up, I expect 360 ports to be moving over to 360. There’s a huge library! Even if it were just the 360 library it’s huge and people constantly complain they don’t have a 360 etc. Well, get this on your Switch, then. It’s not on PS4/Steam Well it’s not on Apple TV or Dreamcast either. Get over it. Back in the day if you wanted a Sonic game, you bought SEGA. Not sure what my point here is other than I am sick of people whining about shit (not you guys). The releases shouldn’t eclipse or masquerade as “new games” because they’re not. But it’s a new platform for these excellent games, and that’s important. I guess in theory this could drop the prices of the xbox360 ports? I am not sure. I didn’t buy mine for much at the time, but they’ve increased in value. However, I play them, unlike other things in my collection! Already, I have a ridiculous amount of shmups on my Switch. Never saw that coming, and I have no excuse not to be playing on it now, compared to 2 years ago when i thought pickings were a bit slim. Now, PowerStone Collection, please. Makes complete sense. Or even better, Power Stone 3.

I imagine some of the limited people at the very least will do so. Which might be a touch annoying in some respects, but I would still pick each one up I suppose.
