  1. I agree with you that you can make poor decisions in the past but still be a socially progressive person. However, the mods at Neogaf would probably disagree. And Malka himself would have probaly disagreed. They never showed much acceptance for other people’s mistakes.
  2. To put it another way: if a celebrity had been accused of what Malka’s did, he and his moderators would have run a public shaming campaign, no dobuts.
  3. The strangest thing about all this is that Neogaf had become such a bastion of SJW types, no doubt due to Malka’s effort to direct the site in such a direction through moderation. Why did he do that, knowing about his own past? Did he think he was immune to public shaming?
  4. I agree. It could be said the story was about the weight of tradition and expectations that are placed on Zelda. I wonder if it's also a metaphor for the expectations that fans have for TLOZ as a series, and how difficult it is to break away from them.
  5. I did the same. Apparently equipping fire weapons keep you warm in the snow, and ice weapons keep you cool in hot places, so you dont have to use elixirs.
  6. I bought it, but the loot you get is nothing special. I look forward to playable Zelda in the winter DLC (I hope).
  7. I have a question about open world games. I am in love with botw's world. It makes me want to rund around, climbing, fighting, solving puzzles. I dont even want to fight bosses at the moment, I am just happy being in this world. I never really felt this way about GTA, or Assassin's Creed, or Shadow of Mordor. Now I can appreciate what others may see in those games. For me botw feels like 'Princess Mononoke: The Game'. Is this the appeal of open world games? People enjoy messing about, not the actual story? I always felt frustrated having to drive 10 minutes to start a mission in GTA, or doing missions that were just 'go there and press X' in AS. Maybe it's time I go back and play GTA5 in a different manner.

Where did I insult them? Edit: where did I say that you 'were not good enough'? Maybe your reading skills are not so great, but I am sure you must be are pretty good at troll...sorry, games.

You want startfox64 with a lick of 1080/60fps paint, I get it. Maybe one day they will make a SF64 HD remake.

Dexterity has to be, by definition, an issue for somebody, if we agree that the term indicates 'the ability to perform a difficult action quickly and skilfully with the hands'.

While I agree to a certain extent, there are specific instances where excution is a key aspect of gameplay. Point in case: fighting games. Moves that require more dexterity tend to have a better payoff. The gameplay is balanced around execution, to an extent. Which means that if you don't put in the time to get better at executing some moves, your appreciation of the game as a whole may be partial.

They get paid to write about games. Somebody who plays games for a living is a tournament player, not a game journalist. Which does not necessarily mean they are any good at them. In fact, they may not even have time to get good an any particular game, if they have to rush to completion and move on to the next one.

What's your take on the situation? Do you think game journalists tend to excel at skill-based games?
  16. "The motion stuff for Splatoon was a terrible mistake and most sensible people turned it off at the first opportunity" that's what you wrote in the starfox thread. Why do you need to poll people if you already know that most sensible people turned it off at the fist opportunity?

It's both. You can play without the gyro aiming.

    Star Fox Zero

You said it's been unanimous in every preview that controls were problematic. The video shows somebody who got the hang of the controls, so its not like the controls are impossible to master. It just takes time, and dedication. Maybe this type of games is not for you?

    Star Fox Zero

That's a load of bollocks. Do I need to link The YT videos of the guy playing on the 3rd treehouse video of E3? The game can be played well and evidently rewards repeated playtroughs. As skill based games should.Edit: here's the video. The guy clearly knows what he is doing. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oi6KUacWHGA
  20. Thanks I wasnt sure if the PS4 could play region free games.

Damn I was really looking forward to it, shame it has been delayed. And for those who complain that the game press could not work grasp the control method at E3: I am surprised that we are still using game journalists as standard bearers for judging skill based games. Please remind me again when a game journalist has ever displayed any degree of skills in playing shooting games or figthing games. Score attack? Speedrunning? These are largely foreign concepts for game journalists. So why again should they be taken as reliable sources to judge an on-rail shooting game like starfox?
  22. Donated for a digital copy of the game, However: is the PS4 version going to be region free? Or will I receve a PAL version of the game?

    Nintendo Wii U

I dont know about other titles, but S&P feels better on the WiiU VC. The fact that controls are fully customisable makes a big difference. For those who may be interested: S&P on the N64 was one of the few games that was meant to be played by holding the controller with your right hand. The right stick used to control the reticule, while the D-pad was used to strafe (and jump). The Wii classic controller never really managed to replicate faithfully the N64 controller, so the game never felt natural (I tried in vain). So now it may be a bit darker on the WiiU, but it finally plays perfectly.

Is there scientific evidence that brighter images induce seizures? This is an honest question, as I only know about that one particular episode of Pokemon.

    Nintendo Wii U

Sin and punishment, the N64 one, has just been released on the WiiU VC. I just downloaded it and played a few stages. Pros: controls are fully customisable, unlike the Wii VC version. Cons: Seems a bit dark on my WiiU screen? Haven't tried on the TV yet.
