  1. It’s not at all easy. I can’t remember exactly where to go but I do think the first couple of hours are lineair. That said, it’s tough.

Also, I am very much in the “why does the character not jump far enough/run faster/dodge better/grab that ledge” camp. In my humble opinion, everything feels slightly off. Courses for horses.

  2. The original and ambitious PvE Hero mode has been scrapped.

Overwatch 2's PvE mode was supposed to be a big differentiating factor between the original game and its sequel.

"We have a lot coming out this year, and even if you look at Season 6, it's the biggest season we've ever launched in the history of Overwatch," Keller said. "We are running a PvE event that season. We have a whole new type of PvE content that we're releasing with our single-player Hero mastery missions... So I hope that players can see that we are still committed to PvE and we are doing more with the story than we've ever done before. We're just doing it in a different way than what we originally talked about."

    Because of course.

  3. I loved the linearity and mission structure of the sequel, is Riptide worth picking up? Or is it a completely different beast?

  4. Platinum popped yesterday, time for an impression/review. This was on my buying-when-on-sale list but after a disappointing week of Overwatch 2 I needed a dopamine fix so Dead Island 2 got bought. I went in expecting a typical bland zombie-survival thing and the first 8 hours or so were exactly that: I was not invested in the characters, the story setup is lame and I kind of tolerated its mediocrity. Like a 5 or 6 out 10 game, nothing offensively bad but just bland and forgettable. But then things fall into place: the story gets going, characters have satisfying arcs and weapons become more meaningful. Dead Island 2 can be overly tongue-in-cheek comedic yet serious when it needs to be. There's some genuine heartwarming and shocking moments.

Star of the show is the zombies, in the 25 hours or it took to complete it I never ever got bored of fighting them. The damage model is ludicrously gory and detailed; deep flesh wounds, decapitations, punching a hole through their head, dismemberment, flesh melting off when hit with caustic. It's extremely detailed and therefor satisfying. Biggest downside is the skill system. Basically you find cards which unlocks a skill and close to none offer any worthwhile advantage. I'm certain you can ignore that system entirely and be completely fine.

Also there's drop-in-and-out multiplayer, an option to have a level set to day or night (which alters the look, that's all. Nothing gameplay-wise is tied to time of day), it runs smooth as butter on PS5, great voice acting (Irish lass Dani 🥰). The dev had fun with this one, that's for sure. Truly hope this does well as it deserves all the success.

    And finished. Loved it, 9/10.

    So far my GotY.

  6. Gorging. Spent 18 hours on a game - Dead Island 2 - this weekend alone am and close to Plat. Before that I gorged on Ratchet & Clank, before that Ghostwire Tokyo. I think deep down I worry about not getting my money's worth if I take it slow; what if a different/newer/better game shows up? Once I move in there's a slim chance I'll return to the previous thing.

  7. Decided to give Overwatch 2 a try after a two season hiatus, left so disappointed I needed a dopamine fix and bought Dead Island 2. Honestly I was waiting for a discount but screw it, tis the weekend.

  8. I solely play Support.

Been playing this for about a week after I quit after Season 1. Just dropped from Gold 3 to Silver 1 after a ridiculous losing streak of 14 games. The type of games where:

    - their Tracer is behind our lines and is not dealt with

    - our tanks going in by themselves

    - our damage dealers going in by themselves

    - they've a Widow, we have a blind Junk and an ice cube-happy Mei

    - Sym's carwash is a concept seemingly no one is familiar with

    - our damage dealers eliminating 0 combined after round 1

    - our Reaper obviously floating towards their Bastion and popping his ult while Bastion is behind a Rein

    - etc etc

It's so disheartening. In OW1 there were at least loot boxes for that dopamine fix ("well, match was shit but I got a nice skin at least"), now there's just disappointment and a slap in the face.
