The bar is a genius addition to making it look more legit/less like a broken DS. Liking it a lot.

Yeah I can't claim that idea but got the nod from the guy to make one like his. Played some more klonoa last night, I'm actually considering selling all my other gbas as it's definitely my favourite now!

Love that, I need one immediately!

I could probably sort out some kind of forum supply. They are fairly time consuming but there's hardly any cost of parts (like a knackered DS and a bit of acrylic) His neon advances go for about £500 on eBay  but they are for charity and they are extremely slick. If there's some interest I could price one up. Doubt it would be more than £40/£50.

I don't see the point in this. If you keep the top screen you can play DS games on it as well and protect the screens. It seems like a step backwards to me.

    1) So, so, light. Even lighter than a micro

    2) squidgy film removed from the bottom touch screen, turns it into a gorgeous display

    3) removes redundant screen if you only want to play GBA

    4) cheap, possibly the cheapest way to play backlit GBA as you can buy a busted DS and salvage it for the sake of a tiny resistor (the only actual extra part you need to make this work)

    5) novelty value

    6) it looks cool as flip

Will do!  Not best pleased with the guy, from the auction it doesn't say that he actually builds the unit once complete so I paid and had to wait 10 days before he posted it. Only went a few days ago and worming its way through slow mail as I type. Not due for another week!

Frustrating! Also let me know if you got stung for customs etc. Hope you get it soon!

Well I couldn't hold out... I've bought a fully modded Nomad with LCD screen, recap etc. Winging its way from the US

Mate can you let me know how it is when it arrives? I've had one of these in my eBay watchlist for a very long time! Have a real hankering for one.

I recently picked up a backlit-modded original GBA and have started getting weirdly into it again. I think I'd forgotten just how much I loved the old thing, especially now I can actually see what's going on with the screen. I've even ordered a replacement shell, screen and buttons so I can make it all looking shiny and new.

I'm surprised by how much the games are now on eBay though! I think I'm gonna have to pick up an Everdrive X5 after pay day. Has anyone here tried the Master System, NES and GB/GBC emulation on GBA with the Everdrive? If so... what's it like?

Careful when replacing the shells. They need to be modded to make the backlit screen fit. You need to grab a hobby knife/pen knife and carve some of the plastic ridges away from the front casing.

I would be interested in getting a couple of original GBs modded. The one may be knackered, the plastic protector has come away and I don't know if that'll have an impact on the screen but it still works. Would you be able to recase it if I provided the bits?

Just curious but would you be able to do the Promod audio mod for GBC?

    Hey Vimster,

Yeah the GB's I would be able to do for sure. Recasing and all. You can buy the plastic screen protector separately, don't need to get the whole case...unless of course you want a minty new case.

Had a quick look into the GBC prosound. Never done it before but looks fairly straightforward.
