  1. I dont mind a bad review but it should be a fair one. Plus sterlings idiotic tweet really skirted with breaking his NDA, he should get hammered for that.
  2. They must be so proud. I bet publishers are starting to think twice about sending stuff to these people.

You're adding microtransactions to it now.

It's good PR from them to have DF analyse it and report favourably. Definitely not writing them off, e3 should be microsofts best in years.

Yeah, the true stance from me is that im not loyal to any of the buggers, I just accept that modern tech is mostly made by foxconn or equivalent, and keep my receipt. I've been screwed by Sony, Microsoft, even Nintendo over the years. I go where the games are that I want to play, I dont nail my flag to anyones mast.

re: scorpio being an xbox still: Yeah I thought that too.. thats what Spencer said. Xbone discs will run on all boxes.

@TehStu Oh your dead ps4, got it. Yeah I dont blame you, but then I also had 7 red ringing 360s and I still bought a bone. None of the manufacturers are without flaw, if you want to play the games its the cost of entry.

I have no idea what your stance is on the pro, but it's a good reference point for a new 4k machine. I didnt imply ms will require native 4k, I said they will have certain mandated requirements, like all console makers, they will want it to be seen in the best light. But anyway, I've expressed my desire, scorpio titles to use the machines power on amazing phsyics and effects, render at under 4k and upscale.

@PeteBrant Exactly. Pro is just an upscaling box that has had an extra GPU and clock boost bunged in it. Scorpio is a whole new console plus architecture that is going to be held back by the xbone. I'd have preferred them to wait another year, support the xbone better, then make a clean break. Anyway, we'll see at E3.
  12. Exactly, if he just didnt like it, he'd have given it a 4 or a 5. a 2/10 is purely attention seeking.

Of course it is, Sony mandated all ps4 releases after last october had pro patches. Microsoft will have their own similar things in regards to new megabone titles. Things like the game must have either a native 4k mode or a certain checkerboard plus AA solution. It's all standard, I find it weird you argue otherwise. Anyway I've expressed my views, this mid gen thing is a bit weird, and as I've said..native 4k is a waste for the moment. With that I'll bow out as it's super fast moving and I've nothing more to add. It is when you both release consoles with laptop CPUs that need a faster refresh.

Sony do the same, both companies have conditions that games have to meet..MS will be advising devs to use the box in certain ways. Standard. I didnt say stay second, I think they should have just supported the xbone way more and then brought the new box out the standard 5 years on.

I do know that, and its a shame, but physics in games in general are just hack jobs. I'd like to see new power in consoles going towards new game types, like when Half Life 2 revolutionised things back in the day. The race for native 4k, then 8k, it's just diminishing returns.

But devs are mandated to by MS. I think the xbone S should have been their only refreshed machine, MS should be hammering the amazing 1st party games like back in the 360 days, instead of going silent and messing up the generation cycle. I mean this thing will be out in November I imagine, a month away from 2018. I think a smart Sony releases PS5 info just before this launch, and the machine comes out a year after. They'll clean up and make MS look old hat again.

That's what makes this whole mid gen refresh thing all so weird. I like the ps4 pro because its basically a super upscale and faster box, 100% not a new console. The megabone to me....well it's a new console. It's either hamstrung by the xbone past, or a halfway house of a next gen machine. Its powerful now but the ps5 will come out in 2 years and instantly make it look outdated again. Then what does MS do...introduce the true xbox 4? It's turning into a bit of a mess.

    Xbox One X

Not really, I just think going from a box that couldnt even do 1080p reliably to a 4k box in 3 years...its foolish use of power. I think this is pride talking from microsoft, whether they like to admit it or not, the sony solution is smart, double GPU plus upscale. They should have taken that approach but gone crazy with the power, not gone for pure 4k. The megabone may sound powerful now, but in 2 years time after launch, even a box like that will be coughing and wheezing doing the later games in 4k. And then the ps5 will come out and make it look old. These machines are really messing with generational leaps, im not sure it's all for the best.

You know what I mean though im sure, if the box is incredibly powerful, I'd rather see it leveraged elsewhere. I mean jumping 8x the pixels to process is no mean feat, and that super version of Forza would look even better if it was checkerboarded with amazing new crash physics, rather than pure native 4k and the same old dumbed down car physics.

why are you trying to be so rude about it, its a perfectly valid opinion.
  21. angel

    Xbox One X

Yes but if it can do native 4k like that, then it could do 1080p with insane phsyics and new game types. I'm tired of new consoles producing the same old games with the same old frame drops and compromised effects just to hit a higher resolution.

Zero, I'm going off all the DF stuff I've read and seen...the ps4 pro versions of things like Mass Effect are really close to the PC ones. Not perfect, but good enough, and impressive for a console. Devs have said for years that the resolution race is silly, the real future is better shaders, effects, clever depth of field and post processing. People may disagree with me all they like, but as far as I'm concerned, raw 4k is a waste.

    Xbox One X

They can tweak it but devs can either checkerboard it or use their own techniques, but the basic standard is that the pro has 2x the gpu resource to run the game in 4k. The bells and whistles are optional extras (chosen and implemented by devs, no graphic menus) for 1080p users like less aggressive LOD, fancy AA or other little titbits.
  24. angel

    Xbox One X

It sounds brilliant but I still want them to do 1440p native and checkerboard it up for 4k, or downsample for 1080p. 4k native is simply a waste of power.
  25. I like the UFCs coverage the best by a mile though, im always excited during fight week..countdowns..embeddeds...loads of stuff to hype you up.
