  1. Only because the people who threw it at him are the biggest bunch of twats on earth. Also: his conspiracy theory is basically the plot to V, that sci-fi show from the eighties.

That's the kind of stuff my housemate listens to. Drives me up the bloody wall! I do like Entertainment by Gang Of Four though, and Pink Flag by Wire has it's moments. Early Joy Division when they were still called Warsaw is fairly awesome too. There was that big post-punk compilation out on Rough Trade last year which was half late 70s / early 80s and half current bands which I'll grudgingly admit to liking stuff off to...

I saw Five Knuckle for the first time in ages earlier this year... What's happened to them? I remember them having ska parts! Still sound good though, and you've got to love the crazy screaming bits their bass player does.

I like hardcore, just tends to be old 80's bands or folks that go out of their way to sound like 80' bands. What Happens Next In Control Rich Kids On LSD Or really over the top, dark stuff like Poison Idea, Tragedy etc. The more modern technical stuff leaves me cold to be honest.
  5. LTTP is my favourite, tho' it's probably all down to nostalgia. I was one of those irritating Amiga owning "consoles are shit" folks when I was a kid. A mate of mine showed me LTTP on the SNES and that shut me up pretty quickly! Absolutely amazing game, the sense of being in a coherent, living breathing world has rarely been beaten.
  6. One to break out the Black Sabbath LPs for?

Ahh. From Autumn To Ashes, the band I'm forever doomed to get mixed up with From Ashes Rise. Someone should come out with one of those fridge magnet poetry kits for people to think up goofy melodramatic band names with. It could have words like Remnants and Agony in.

Not really. It's just different now. There's a massive d.i.y. network that's almost completely unreported in the mainstream music press. You get bands touring all over the world off their own backs, it's not uncommon to see bands from Japan, America and all over Europe playing in pubs in Leeds! That's pretty fucking cool I think. .. Hawkeye: All great stuff! I've been listening to the Ramones on a daily basis lately. The first three LPs are faultless in my opinion (even some of the goofy eighties stuff with synths and mad reverb is pretty cool!). .. McFly: If you like Blink 182, Green Day etc. you might want to give a listen to the Promise Ring and Lawrence Arms, they're both very straightforward poppy stuff. In fact I wouldn't even describe it as punk, just straight guitar pop. Well worth a listen.

Fibre is important. Keep up the good work.
  10. Does it have co-op? Dynasty Warriors on co-op is genius but I've played the last two to death.
  11. Not seen Azumi but I loved Versus at the cinema and I reckon it stands up on video. It's a proper dumb idiot movie. It's kind of like the Matrix equivalent of Evil Dead, in that the director got a bunch of unknowns together, went out into a forest in the middle of nowhere and just filmed as many goofy action and special effects sequences as he could. So if you like the idea of a paper thin storyline that makes no sense stringing together Samurai vs. Zombie swordfights, Yakuza vs. Zombie gunfights and a karate master vampire who looks like an asian Gary Numan then it's worth a look!

Anyone here into their punk? hardcore? (the punk kind, not y'know Hatebreed or whatever) garage? punk-pop? crust? emo? etc. Seems to be all hip-hop and metal round these parts...

Thanks! ... Halo 2, Tales Of Symphonia and Minish Cap are the must haves as far as I'm concerned. Then maybe Prime 2 and POP2. And maybe KOTOR 2. And that new Paper Mario thing. Shit.

When's Psi-Ops out then? Or has that one snuck out already?
  15. Thats uncanny... I just gave up on both them after a while. Lost Kingdoms takes the piss. Even after hours of levelling up on the final level, converting cards into more powerful cards etc. I just couldn't beat it. Shame too as I really enjoyed the rest of the game. Otogi was an absolute bastard too. The "glowing turd" escort mission in which you could accidently kill the turd. And the final boss. ARGH!
  16. There used to be a guy in Game Station Leeds who had DUKE NUKEMS FACE. It was scary.
  17. Not an FPS but similar in some ways to Halo: Freedom Fighters. Got this second hand this weekend and despite it being a bit hard in places (Although I did put it one over the default difficulty level) it's suprisingly good. You can order you squad to defend areas or attack specific enemies and the fact that you can only carry two weapons and swap between weapons enemies have dropped gives it a real Halo feel. It's also very non-linear, each mission is split into a number of seperate areas each with multiple objectives and completing objectives in one area effects other areas (e.g. blow up a helicopter pad to stop helicopter patrols etc.). A really underated game IMO.
  18. Wasn't the Gamecube designed specifically so that they drive could read things off disk without slowing down the processor and graphics chips and "stuff" (the limit of my technical knowledge)? (Question not fact!) That would explain why Metroid Prime can load the levels while the lift animation plays and Riddick can't.
  19. What is the point of taking out Stun Runner? Other then to make me cry?
  20. I want shorter games. Action games / FPS's that take, ideally, about 10 hours to finish. Also: an option to unlock everything once you've got 90% unlocked would be nice. For example, there's stuff in Timesplitters 2 that I'll never see (and most people I know won't who've played it won't either).
  21. I haven't got the first one yet. EDIT: STUN RUNNER! I used to love that game!
  22. Ah, hadn't realised that. So who's doing X-box Doom3?
  23. An idealistic Dabbler. I'd LIKE to be a completer but... just never seem to get there.
  24. I'm getting that as soon as I'm done with Thief 3 so I'll tell him then. It does look fairly fucking awesome. ... Mr Spew: Well, yeah, I was just being flippant. What I really should have said is that in a straight conversion of a recent PC game, X-box doesn't have the horsepower. And I.D. have a bad habit of doing straight ports for their console titles (Quake DC was a pretty noble effort but again, shit frame rate - they should have simplified the lighting). I don't really have a point here... Other then they should... uh... simplify the lighting effects.
  25. If they've got any sense at all they'll be stripping out all the lighting effects and replacing them with something more "functional" that the X-box can actually handle, then upping the polygon count on the monsters. Aside: Been playing Thief 3 on x-box over the weekend. Looks great, plays great, but I wouldn't want those frame rates / screen tearing for a fast moving FPS. It's a PC in a box sure... A very old PC.
