  1. Did you notice it to be any quieter than older slim revisions at all?
  2. I'm keeping my eye out for a good deal on one. I've been tempted to see if I can get one of those blue xbox 360e models too. They do seem a bit more expensive and also lack the analog out for rgb/vga connections which puts me off a bit. That's a good idea to try and get some players onboard. Would be interested myself in quite a few different racing games and other genres if they're still playable.
  3. Update on the Master System journey. I've brought out the modified Mega Drive2 which means I now have rgb, 50/60hz and language switches. I took off the top of the shell and am currently using the adapter that came with the analog sg. The Mega Drive slot has already been widened for Japanese game so I'm considering extending that to allow the adapter to fit. That's potentially a bit drastic compared to just getting another adapter. I've also had Sonic2 delivered today. I've played it for about 20minutes this morning. It's always been my least favourite of the three main games on master system but had to have it. It'll need to be completed before I buy anything else as that's my current policy. It's in good shape too which is always nice.
  4. Got my first new game for the master system this week; Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse. Good platformer although the music did grate on me at times. Was kind of tricky at points but after a few attempts it became a lot easier. Would definitely recommend it. Land of Illusion must have been the game I had mastered as a kid so I'll be on the lookout for that too. I'm sticking to games I remember owning for the meantime and will only buy another game once the previous one has been beat. Also managed to modify my system to run at 60hz and got a better RF cable so it doesn't look quite as bad. Saying that I think I may go down the path of getting another system or an adapter to use on my MegaDrive. Need that RGB action.
  5. Thanks for the advice. Yea soldering a gpu to the motherboard isn’t something I’d be able to tackle. Looks like a replacement is in order in that case. Should be able to pick one up for under £50 like you say.
  6. Does anyone know if there's any hope in trying to fix an xbox360 slim with the E82 error? Graphics started glitching a few days before it eventually gave up. Would I be better off just trying to find a replacement? I'd just picked up pgr4 too and was looking forward to giving it a try.
  7. Never managed to beat that one myself either. My brother however could routinely beat it. He had written down how to beat all the janken bosses and could fly through the game in no time. Seems to be an expensive game now to get on cartridge. Shame the system I have here had Sonic on it instead. Good luck with beating it!
  8. I always enjoyed the catchy song in that game. Can't say the game would hold my attention too long these days but I have good memories of 2 player games on it.
  9. Any pics of this incoming? I believe there's quite a few 360 games that support both 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio which is nice.
  10. Got a super cheap master system 2 not so long along and finally got around to trying it out tonight. That RF picture is less than stellar to say the least so might look into composite mod for some level of acceptability. I have a mister hooked up to a pvm as well so using this is arguably absurd but it's all fun. Gonna attempt to buy some games I has as a kid. Hoping the prices for the ones I remember aren't too dear. Unfortunately of all the games pictured here Mortal Kombat, Sonic Chaos and Wonder Boy have no carts in the box. If anyone has any extra games knocking about let me know, could be interested in a few.
  11. That's the exact tv I had back in the day! There's a certain joy to be had from standard portable crt tvs compared to professional monitors.
  12. 01/03 - Devil May Cry(Hard) This is cheating a little bit as I just beat the game on Normal and went straight into hard mode as I was enjoying it so much. Enjoyed going through it again but the irksome camera angles become more troublesome when the hits you're taking do more damage. Even with this it's still it's a top tier game.(except the 3rd nightmare boss which annoyed me to no end.) Now I'm ready to move onto the sequel.
  13. This is great. We're gonna need some nice pics whenever you get it set up fully. Would be a cracking way to play the Super Mario 64 pc port at 60fps and Ocarina whenever it appears at 60fps.
  14. 26/02 - Devil May Cry This is a blast. Completely over the top and ridiculous. Great fun combos and enough variety to keep it from getting boring. Never beat it way back when but was just as fun as I remember it. Only real downside is the camera. Some of the fixed camera angles make the action a bit frustrating at times as you literally cannot see the enemy or where attacks are coming from. Despite that it's absolutely still worth playing and only took around 6 hours to finish. I'll be interested to see what went so wrong with the sequel as I've only ever seen bad reviews of it.
  15. 21/02 - Ridge Racer I started this up for a quick test of a cable a few days ago and ended up after numerous attempts unlocking the devil car. That extra mode advanced level track was tricky. You have to get as close to perfect laps while also avoiding the traffic. Great game to go back to over and over. And the music.
  16. 19/02 - Resident Evil 2 Beat both scenarios of Resident Evil 2 on the N64 this week. Still love it to this day. It has to be one of all the all-time greats. N64 seemed fine although the fmv quality was pretty ropey at times. Wanted to play it out of curiosity. There are better versions sure but it's a cracking port. Been playing through banjo-kazooie but I'm not overjoyed by it. Myabe it's because a I never played it on/near release but its a bit of a chore just dandering about collecting things. Will hold off on my final verdict until I've played some more.
  17. 08/01 - Paper Mario Really wanted to play this one when I first seen a screenshot of it in nintendo official magazine back before it was released. Finally give it a go since it was released on the switch online service. Had a great time with it and it didn't ever get too grindy as you can see enemies on the field to dodge battles. I'll be looking forward to playing more in the series this year.(and the snes mario rpg)
  18. Thanks I've bought these so will give them a try over the next week or so. What were some of the older games you created? Would like to give them a try too. Do you have a link to the sonic stream if it's still available?
  19. I went back into battle tonight with this and managed to beat it. I know very little about c64 but it was a really nice playable port. Will be interested in trying out some other games on it now. The main difference to the master system version was the colours. Anyone else manage to give this a blast yet?
  20. It does indeed work! There's a digital manual you can choose to view when you first boot it up and everything. It runs really well too from what I played up to. Got to the jungle zone before getting a game over haha. Managed to lose 8 lives on the second boss! Gonna try the master system version now to rejig my memory.
  21. This seems pretty cool. Will it run on the mister? Would love to hear the jungle zone music.
  22. Yea fair enough that makes sense. I know the pain of swapping out cables on a pvm with little room to maneuver. Nightmare is the word indeed.
  23. If it's going to a pvm you could just use the component cables for good quality. They will output at 480i as well as hd resolutions. Maybe it doesn't suit your individual setup though?
  24. I gave that jaguar core a quick blast myself out of curiosity. Flashback: Quest for identity - seemed to work quite well however there as no sound. NBA Jam - kinda worked with broken sound and some weird lines across the screen. Iron Soldier - worked great in the menus with sound but crashed after that. Think I tried a few others that just didn't work at all.
  25. I don't know about the correct pins or anything like that. But I have an rgb modded 64 with literally just wires. Needs a specific cable to work properly. Probably has resistors or something like that in the scart cable.
