Or whilst strafing in a different direction...
  2. I backed this on KickStarter tonight - can't actually remember how I came across the link (it'll be a bit embarrassing if it was this thread...). I've been getting pretty bad cramp in my right hand since getting the Switch and it only recently dawned on me that it might be the console bringing it on. Tried buying some rubbish gel skins from Amazon with a little extra bulk but they're no real use. I think this looks fantastic though (although the huge carry case looks shit...)
  3. It was probably better because I could use two hands
  4. I only ever did one of the motion control shrines in handheld mode, whilst I was in my parked car waiting for something. I knew I'd struggle with the screen (given hehe steering wheel right in front of me) so I popped the right Joy-Con off, held the screen in one hand and did the motion with the other. Took me fucking ages to finish it! Did all the rest at home with the pro controller - so much better!
  5. That would be amazing! But swap that image out for one of Ikaruga Edit: I so wish that I could pos you twice for the same post
  6. I'm sure I read an interview with Reggie where he said they'd be considering more down the line, but only where they felt they could add improvements to the originals to make them the "definitive versions" (Like they've done with MK 8 Deluxe and Pokken DX). I'd be all over some updates, whilst I had a Wii U I didn't get as much time to play as I'd have liked (being a responsible grown up and all), but the portable nature of the Switch totally changes that.
  7. Interesting read - while I'm sure MP4 will be excellent (like Echoes and Corruption before it) it really jumps out from that interview that we'll never get another true masterpiece like Prime - the focus on story is what jumps out at me, and the absolute beauty of Prime, that's never been repeated (and in fact became more and more diluted as the games went on) was that the entire story was told purely through the scanner, reading notes and historic records. The more NPCs they added to the games the worse they got IMO, so any focus on expanding the history of the Galactic Federation just makes me want to go full Vader ("Noooooooo!") The comment about Echoes being too hard is a shame too - I remember one boss was an utter c**t, but then so was the Omega Pirate in Prime, I reckon a bit of challenge is a good thing. Really hope they don't make it too easy. Still can't fucking wait obviously...
  8. I saw headlines that the hard mode will be a separate save to the normal one... But haven't read any detail on it, so not sure if that save needs to begin from the start or if it can branch from the original one (although my guess would be that it'd need to start again)

Went back to Nin-fucking-jara earlier... And beat him on my third attempt! Every single round was to the wire though, fantastic stuff! I'd previously always had the toaster (normal glove) as at least one hand, but given his speed and jumpy-about-ness I went for each hand as Spring Man's other two (rockets to catch things with wide shots and the boomerang thing to CLIP HIS FUCKING EAR) - also slowed things right down. Previously I'd been pretty aggressive, but instead I held back, focusing on blocks and dodges and only throwing punches/grabs when I had confidence they'd land. Worked really well against Ribbon Girl (2 continues I think) and Max Brass too (2,maybe 3 rematches). So that's level 3 done, but fuck moving on to 4! Going to spend some time in training mode, then aim to complete 3 again with a few other fighters. I'm gonna need a montage...

Went back to my level 3 Grand Prix from last night and utterly failed to beat Ninjara about 5 times... "stop shouting daddy, don't get upset, you can beat him!" How do you explain to a five year old that Ninjara is an utter hard as nails c**t and that their father is too much of a pussy to defeat him? LEVEL 3! I love this game.
  12. It was mine too until I played Breath of the Wild I'm so fucking excited about MP4 though (even though 2 and 3 never quite managed to capture the magic of the first, being merely 'fucking excellent').

I've managed to squeeze in a couple of hours play today, all handheld! (thank ITV for shitty Love Island :p) What an absolute joy this game is, although after spending a good 8 hours with the Test Punch (although half of that as a spectator to be fair) it really does feel like the motion controls are the way to play (going to give the pro pad a go at some point though) Made my way through Grand Prix on Level 2 as Spring Man and only lost 2 rounds, so upped it to level 3 and its definitely more tricky, lost the skill shot round by 40 points (BARQ IS A FUCKING CHEAT!), then after beating it on the retry got utterly schooled by Mechanica in 2 rounds of pain! Gave her a gubbing when I went back for more though, and now have to go to bed... Boo! Can't wait to try Grand Prix in co-op with my son tomorrow

Nah, I walk to the station every day, it's just the cost of the repairs will no doubt be more than I'd have enjoyed spending on more Joy-Con Going to enjoy playing this on my commute for a while though I'm sure, but the real fun will be on the TV at home

Anything but! Don't be 'that guy' Have to report though, that my train journey this morning was great - playing in handheld mode is surprisingly good, but definitely doesn't feel like using a pad has the same depth as playing with waggle. Can't wait to play it with my son later - will let him use the Joy-Con and I'll use the pro pad (can't justify getting a second set of Joy-Con this month, my bastard car broke down!)
  16. Just to add, that was my absolute favorite shrine quest

Downloaded last night so this is waiting for me to hope on the train this morning - looking forward to trying it with 'normal' controls (not sure my fellow commuters would appreciate me flailing my arms around...)
  18. Edit: I have no idea why my own text is in a quote box, nor how to fix it!

I used the cdkeys.com Facebook discount codes to get £50 eShop credit for about £45 (assuming the Quidco cashback goes through ok). Definitely prefer to go digital for anything I'd like to play online.
  20. 100% this. If it's too tough right now then don't worry about walking away. Don't spoil it with YouTube videos, just hang in there. I'm sure I've said before, but combat didn't gel with me until I'd spent a good 40 hours (I think?) playing - I avoided combat for most of that time. When it does click though it's absolutely brilliant - there's no need to force it, just keep playing
  21. Blood moons appear when you've killed a lot of enemies (to respawn them). If one's not coming, then go on a rampage and you'll get one in no time. If you're quick (watch the sky around 9-10pm!) then you can get back to where you need to be in plenty of time

Missed the 1pm Test Punch, but got on again at 7pm. Let The Boy play most, but had a few matches myself... My love for this game grows every time I play it. The new game modes are ace (I LOVE Hoops, and the 3v1 boss mode was just brilliant!), but it's the charm and humour that the game just oozes that really get me. I decided to switch characters at one point and when I pressed A to select Spring Man he said a big "Boooooiiiiiing!" - I was almost in tears! (am I just easily amused?) But to top it off tonight, as if I needed more proof that this is a day 1 + extra JoyCon purchase, my wife asked for a go. Now that might not seem unusual to many of you guys, but my wife hates games, she's never shown an interest in any, not even things like Tetris or mobile games (the only exceptions being Brain Training on the DS and Wii Fit, and neither are really games!) I was dumbfounded... Even more so when she actually enjoyed it! Fuck I can't afford 2 more sets of Joy-Con...
