There are two types of people in the world:

    - People who can appreciate Nintendo for what they do at their best, albeit with some reservations about their conservatism.

    - Grave raping necro dogshit eating cunts.

Genuine laughter. I am a confirmed Nintendo fan boy. I must admit, I wish they'd come up with some original content on the Switch though, rather than "Deluxe" ports of WiiU (admittedly) classics.

  2. Just cleared the first streamer.  I don't think this is for me. The battles are boring and I just muddle through them. Luckily, it's a physical copy so I can trade it in for something else. I love all things Mario usually, but this is just not clicking with me. it's boring. A chore to play.

  3. This is a bit of a curates egg for me. I normally love all things Mario, but the battle system is confusing me beyond all belief. I don't think my brain is wired to deal with this type of puzzle. I got to the first boss and after 3 attempts I completely fluked it. I will persevere, but I've never seen a game over screen in a Mario game as often as I have with this, even on the normal battles. Am I missing something obvious?

  4. Heard this crop up on my Spotify mix the other day. Oh my. What a beautiful song. Much wrangling over this version or Marvin's. But I think this wins out for me. I absolutely adore Leon Ware. This song gives me goosebumps whenever I hear it. Resonates with me at the moment as my partner is moving in with me soon :)

  5. I've set up the Nvidia Shield Pro and got it all working, it's a perfect under the TV machine with all the other apps and benefits it brings. Been going through the shooters and come across Batsugun Special on Final Burn Retroarch core. Wow, what a game. Toaplan made some great arcade shooters and this is probably the best. The Saturn had a port of it too which I am sure I had at one stage but I must have sold. Bullet hell frenzy with great boss battles and sound. I know there's a shooter thread in Discussion. Is there a retro-shooter thread in here? I couldn't find one.

  6. I don't own this game. But I am enjoying reading this thread. I have a PS4 Pro that's sitting there unused as I got a Switch earlier in the year which has had more than enough to entertain me. I'm so tempted to pick this up for the Pro. But, I might wait for the incoming patches to solve the bugs. I'm not worried about Ray Tracing and high fidelity (I thought that was an old b-boy tune), so talk me in/out of it hive mind. In its current state, is it payable on the Pro?

    Such a tune.

That reminds me that I didn't post up this bit of British hustle from the same era when I heard it. I'd only ever been aware of the instrumental and had no idea about the lyrics and that it has a bit of the bad nonce about it. It was the eighties I suppose. We just didn't know any better.

Such a great tune. I am confirmed Brit-Funker though, so extremely biased.

  8. I played this to death in the WiiU and thought it was the best 2d Mario created. It came up in the latest online sale for the Switch so I purchased again and my opinion is still the same. A fantastic tour de force of a game with so much content ideas and hidden depth. I really hope they've got another 2d Mario in development.

  9. Was lucky enough to see Mr Ayers last year at the Jazz Cafe. Still going strong. He's got such  a wide catalogue to choose from, but these two are my favourites;

Running Away. What more needs to be said. Stonewall classic groove

A cover at that as well!! The Sam Cooke classic You Send Me. Like Art said, that suit is killer and the hat too. Wish I had the style to cover it off! But what a great interpretation. Gives the shivers...

I’ve grown to realise that Bourgie, Bourgie is one of the best pieces of music. Period. Amazing composition and arrangement and there are plenty of great alternative versions/covers too.

It truly is. I often listen to it and it's just an uplifting piece of music. How do people think of compositions like it? It blows my mind.

  11. What a tune this is. Ashford & Simpson are solid gold. But this is the best thing they did by far. Great clips of NYC in this video too. A different place back then.

The difficulty stuff is well overblown. It's more that they make minimal effort to meet you halfway with how to play them or understand their mechanics.

Sorry. In my opinion this is incorrect. I have tried a couple of times to get into it. I love the premise, the atmosphere and aesthetics. The difficulty is high right from the start, incongruently so. Definitely a case of try before you buy, if you can.

  13. Well, I'm a confirmed Nintendo fan boy. This is a great compilation. Sunshine looks fantastic after its HD upgrade. Galaxy still looks and plays dreamily. Mario 64 looks cleaner, sharper but it's beginning to show it's age now against its peers. But being nearly 25 years old I'm not surprised. Can't wait to see what else Nintendo have got planned for Mario that they didn't announce in the 35th anniversary direct.
