That’s also my issue with Gunlord. I love the look of it and the idea, I just don’t like it in practice.

I've got some of the older DC homebrews. Ghost Blade is ok, I really wanted to like Gunlord but it just didn't click. Rush Rush Rally Racing DX is great. Dux and Sturmwind both felt lacklustre. Fast Striker is alright, Last Hope is pointlessly difficult even with the pink bullets. Water Margin was a bit crap and I've never even tried the three at the top or Redux.

Interesting, I love a boxing game but there's not been much going for a while. I'll probably give this a try.

I nearly spat my brew out when I saw that. I assumed £20 was for the collectors edition.

I tolerated the Leon campaign, the others were wank.

Could you identify this game? From 1984-ish

My first thought was I Robot, but then you said subtler colours. -
Got myself some new DC games yesterday. While posting this picture I realised I actually own the arcade release for every single one of these games, still looking forward to playing them and seeing new features though.

I don’t actually like the DSII arcade mode, it’s IIX mode where that release shines for me, it’s bloody brilliant, close to DS1 for me.
-
I would guess so on the digital front. I don’t even know why I’m so excited, I’ve got DS1 on all 3 regions on 360 and the arcade PCB and the standalone DS2 and the copy in the CAVE shooting collection which are all plenty good enough. I still feel like a kid at Christmas seeing this release.

Physical versions of Deathsmiles 1+2 coming to PS4, Switch and Xbox on 16th December in Japan it seems.

The boot up speed is the big one for me, every time I used to go to use my PS4 it felt like an ordeal, it used to stop me playing if time was limited. Now I can happily play for 30 minutes on a new console rather than having to go retro.

Series X is immense, PS5 has been a little underwhelming. Would be nice to see some more ‘Next Gen’ games for both.
-
£70 for a standard edition is unlikely to get me to buy. I’ve bought all sorts of batshit collectors edition, mostly in the 360 era, some costing way too much. I also used to be in the arcade hobby where a single PCB routinely can cost hundreds so I’m not totally against it, it’s just a tough sell to me. I’ve not bought any PS5 games at that price yet anyway.

It's got fuck all to do with wokeness and almost everything to do with their chosen genre, their decision to release it unfinished and their inability to make a really good game out of it. Anti-heroes can still shift units, just don't glorify their bad habits/traits. Sure not everyone will go for that, but I can't imagine a whole load of people looked at Max Payne and said "He's an alcoholic with a pain killer addiction? Fuck that game!"

I'll leave it be then, it can forever stay amazing in my mind. -

Is Wacky Wheels as good as I remember it? It’s fucking brilliant in my mind but I’ve not played it since about 1996. -
I picked this up yesterday from CEX for £12 and I’m glad I did. I’m really enjoying it so far, especially all the fan service in there. All the professional reviewers absolutely murdered this game yet all the amateur reviewers are gushing over it. Looking forward to playing it again.

Bloomberg JPN reporting multiple parties interested in buying Square-Enix

If it’s the whole company up for sale it’s not looking good for arcades if it’s a non-Japanese buyer. With Sega selling off their arcade location business, I can’t imagine the new owner would have much interest in the Taito arcades unless they’re doing super well (which I doubt they are). -
Yeah almost all Famicom games are dirt cheap. You can buy them and Super Famicom games (cart only) in decent sized bundles on Yahoo Auctions Japan for a few quid. Edit: Lovely collection there Colonel Panic.

I can’t see a time when I’ll stop playing games while I’m physically able to. One thing I’m not sure about is if my attention span will come back when I have more time for gaming. I’m already at the point where most new games are too much of a chore, but I still hammer pick up and play games, new or old. I also think I’ll keep up with gaming news, mainly because a lot of the games I like to play don’t exactly just fall into my lap. The local supermarket doesn’t carry many of the games I want to play unfortunately. Maybe I’ll finally go digital and then I won’t have to buy from all over the web to get games I want.

They sort the duty for you, I’ve had two orders and both have a Slough return address. Presumably they handle European, or at least UK orders over here.
