    Tokyo Game Show

There was only two showings today... a lot of hype went in to the Nier thread given that's what the Square Enix show was all about. I do agree that disco is pretty dead though. Almost as dead as Elden Ring, amirite @Benny?

I didn't say it was smart or rational, my brain just went there!

I seriously thought the Paper RPG thing, was Dragon Quest Drawn to life type thing for a minute.

Mmmmm, I hope Square Enix is going to be a bit more... revealy? I like some of the things we are seeing, of course. But it's just not new and shiney.

Well if there was ever a time for an Elden Ring announcement, it would be the TGS. Benny, I think we should have new betting terms for this event, if I "win"* (no NEW Elden Ring news), you have to stfu about Elden Ring for the rest of 2020. If you "win"*, (something new is announced), then I dunno, I'll eat my hat. *there are no winners here
  6. Yeah, it's really, really good to finally get to play some form of Gloomhaven! Really love the bitesize way it's introducing all the rules and everything to us. @ClipperI believe you were at some point considering picking up a copy of Gloomhaven, I might be mistaken there, but I have a vague recollection of it. Jaws of the Lion might be a good option to look in to! It's a very, very friendly way to learn the game and the set up and tear down is unreal compared to Gloomhaven full. It still needs a fair amount of space but nowehere near the table hogger that its momma is and no worse than any other "regular" boardgame. I was initially dubious how I would feel about no map tiles for it and thought it might detract from the experience a little, but I'm finding the scenario book is actually working well. I think the quality could be a little better - it's not as nice as Stuffed Fables for example but I do like the amount of detail that can go on to the artwork of the maps because they are now scenario specific and not generic tiles used for 20+ other scenarios. I'll definitely be picking the scenario books up when they become available for Gloomhaven and Frosthaven. Excited for the next few scenarios! Tutsie the Demolitionist is ready to pop pop some baddies with a good old one-two punch or two!
  7. Don't feel bad, I fully accept that I'm a complete dickhead for this sort of shit.
  8. I know I'm one of those dickheads that bought the super shiny gold edition, but in my defence, nope... I don't have a defence. The first hour, I was thinking, "mmmm" but then the little guy came in and he was super hyped watching me play as Thor, Iron Man, Hulk and trying to back seat game me on a game he has never played for super heroes he has never seen the movies of or read any comics about. It was quite joyful. Ms. Marvel is fantastic, it's really refreshing as a female gamer to play a female protagonist that is just...I dunno, normal? The little touches, like the way she self consciously dances to Cheap Thrills and the external internal monologuing, she's incredibly endearing.
  9. Could be a good shout. There is a 12GB update for it downloading now on PS4, hopefully it will fix some of the issues!
  10. Not especially, imo. There are of course nods, but prior knowledge isn't a pre-requisite,
  11. It's pretty similar to Divinity Original Sin 2, you create a multiplayer game, one person hosts, the other joins. The multiplayer is a seperate save file from your single player, and then each time you play, the same player hosts the game and the other joins. You can continue playing without the other player present, but i'm sure I read that there are certain story beats - few and far between - that won't allow you to progress without all players actually present. Playing single player on the ps4 - I've had a pretty smooth time of it. Playing multi player - we're getting disconnects, system crashes, a ton of bugs, I can't listen in to the conversations, just feels a lot more buggy for some reason. But, in my opinion, it is worth persevering as it's a great game!
  12. Mine too is in English. From the outset!
  13. I will definitely try and remember to swing by tomorrow!

    NIOH 2

The Demon Picture Scroll things, I found one that had a level requirement of 196(+20) and the +20 was in orange. Does anyone know what the orange +20 is? I picked this one up from a revanant grave kill rather than a random drop.

Then I believe you are in for quite the treat.

I stopped playing this quite some time ago, probably around the time we got an influx of new games thrown at us that were on my "I really need to play this now!" list. I picked it back up again when the DLC released. I had completely lost all of my skills I started afresh and when I was used to the systems again, I picked up on my original save and blasted through the last bit of NG difficulty and decided not to jump straight in to the DLC content and instead take a bit of time exploring NG+ and twilight missions. It feels amazing to destroy those earlier bosses that I struggled so much with! Enerna and Yatsu-no-Kami, I'm looking at you. Spent a lot of time farming Shuten Doji for his club recipe and made myself a lovely Divine version of it. His level is one of my favourites in the game. Just need a Divine Gourd of his now but he seems pretty keen on drinking from it and doesn't really want to share. This game
  17. @Clipper I'm very sorry to do this, but I can't make tonight. Am utterly wiped out so want to be in bed by 5pm. At the latest.
  18. I really feel that this is high on my list for game of the year contender, and going by some of the recent comments, I feel like I've played a totally different game! I'm not saying the game is perfect by any stretch of the imagination - but I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Jin and the stories of my allies and I definitely had dust in my eyes at several points during the game. I also chuckled quite a few times at some of Jin's one liners. It's a shame that those were mostly hidden away in the side quests or with random people as I think it added quite a bit to his character and I think the voice actor deserves more credit than being given! I can't quite put my finger on exactly what made it so engaging for me. The main story went exactly where I thought it would go, so there wasn't any real shocks or surprises, but sometimes it's nice to just play a game for what it is, especially one that was wrapped up in such beauty. The world itself was utterly gorgeous, every direction you looked I felt was just cinematic mastery. Like others, I did question why there was camps so near to Mongol bases - but like others have said, I came to the same conclusion, they wanted to show they could take over all of Tshusima - they didn't need to kill everyone to do it. We repeatedly see this through the game where the villages were given choices, surrender to us and you will live, defy us and the people and village will burn. Survivor Camps didn't need to be invaded or taken over, there was no power to be gained there. Plus it meant they were close by when I finally liberated the land for them. I enjoyed exploring every inch of the map as I followed every bird, chirp, chime, cricket song, earning myself the platinum trophy on my first play through (there was one that I had to look up because I would never have got it - as it's a hidden trophy I'll pop it in spoilers (It's in no way related to the story or events that take place) End of Act 3 Spoilers:
  19. I keep pressing R2 to dismount The amount of times I've gone vaulting off my horse into the wild unknown rather than dismounting gracefully is embarassing.
  20. An absolute dealbreaker. Definitely don't enjoy the game when it finishes not downloading!
  21. What a stunning looking game, absolutely gorgeous. I like the depth of the combat system - although I haven't unlocked too much of it yet, but already getting good vibes. I agree with what MardiganX said about the lock on. It's not required, the light focus lock on is plenty suitable. My timing is dreadful though. I have my moments of "that couldn't have gone any better, gg Rikku" to "that douche just murdered me in one hit because I got cocky". Just realised I started typing this about 3 hours ago and didn't hit submit.
  22. Does anybody who got the game today have any first impressions? I went for digital pre-order and won't really get a chance to play until it unlocks at midnight / tomorrow. Quite excited for it after watching some reviews though!
