  1. Looking at the RPCS3 website it seems like the PS5 meets their "recommended" spec requirements and their currents stats say that 63.67% of PS3 games are classed as playable in the emulator while every PS3 game is at least classed as booting in the emulator. I watched ETA Primes video about the newest Aya Neo yesterday and he showed Skate 3 running on that machine using the RPCS3 emulator. That device uses a 4800u AMD APU which isn't as powerful as whats inside a PS5. I'm sure creating a PS3 emulator would involve a lot of work for Sony but if they want to offer PS3 games as part of this service it still seems like the best option they have.
  2. @Wiper @Hitcher I understand that creating a PS3 emulator would be a lot of work for Sony but it still seems like the best option available to them. The alternative is continuing on with the current strategy of sticking PS3s in server racks and using that as a way to stream games which doesn't seem like a great option going forward. I don't know what the current situation is regarding that deal Sony announced with Microsoft about using Azure for cloud gaming but I'm guessing that at some point it will involve Sony installing new PS Now hardware in Microsoft's data centres. Does it make sense to put PS3 hardware on a PS Now blade in 2021+ ? Would they even be able to find someone to produce new supplies of CELL and Geforce 7000 chips in 2021?
  3. Maybe I'm being silly but I don't see why PS3 games in particular would be left as a streaming only option. I'm assuming that for the next generation of PSNow Sony will basically start putting PS5s in datacentres and running everything on those machines. Creating a PS3 emulator that can run on a PS5/x86 has to be cheaper than trying to maintain a system built around a defunct processor architecture like the Cell chip. The PS5 is definitely powerful enough to run PS3 emulator, maybe Sony won't add stuff to match Microsofts framerate or resolution boosting features but they should still be able to create an official emulator that runs PS3 games as well as they ran on original hardware.

  5. Halo Infinite is going to end up winning their 2021 GOTY. Thats my potentially very foolish prediction.
  6. https://youtu.be/CQbw97teCDI Well that looks lovely.
  7. They upgraded all their xCloud servers to Series X level hardware this year which has to have put even more pressure on Series X supply compared to Series S.
  8. Got a Series X at launch and a PS5 earlier this year. They are simply fantastic machines to play games on. It would have been nice to have had more games to show off the hardwares capabilities but y'know global pandemic and all that, but the machines themselves are just lovely to use and I enjoy playing games on them a hell of a lot more than I did the PS4 or Xboxone.

  10. Assault on Dragon Keep was originally released as DLC for Borderlands 2.
  11. Wall Street Journal published new allegations about Koticks behaviour earlier this week. Its behind a paywall so heres the Polygon story summing things up. https://www.polygon.com/22785524/blizzard-activision-lawsuit-bobby-kotick-wall-street-journal-report
  12. The recent update got me to look at what old 360 stuff was now available on my Series X. Ended up playing some Puzzle Fighter which felt like a perfect use of the service. The game works just fine on modern hardware and theres no need for people to go looking for a new version or for Capcom to put resources into bringing it to modern hardware. Its there already and its just works. Which is nice.
  13. Yeah, Ryan criticising Activisions response, which is basically Koticks really, seems like a more significant move than that shareholder statement. I know Activision are sticking by Kotick at this stage but if partners like Sony are starting to publicly (Ryan had to know that email was going to be seen by the press) raise concerns then how long can he really last?
  14. https://9to5google.com/2021/11/10/wavetale-is-a-stadia-exclusive-from-thunderful-games-available-now-and-free-w-pro/ New game from the Steamworld studio. I have high hopes.
  15. There's no way a racing game is going to play better with a DS3 than a 360 controller. The triggers on the Sixaxis pad were an abomination. Not fixing them when they got the chance with the DS3 was one of the worst decisions Sony made over the lifespan of the PS3.
  16. Given the sheer size of the VW group I'm assuming there has to be a team somewhere working on an engine that could form the basis of an F1 engine. Get the group who developed those engines that dominated LeMans back together. A sleek looking Mclaren sitting on pole before setting off with a massive bang and a cloud of blue smoke pouring out the back of it like a misfiring Massey Ferguson? It'll be great.
  17. I think the forums biggest fan of Waifus is trying to make a case for Xenoblade.
  18. Tropical Freeze was already HD as it was a Wii-U game. I know they added Funky Kong for the Switch version but I thought that was it, was there more added?
  19. I think this is is one of the accounts that kicked off the Halo rumours so maybe keep your hopes in check. I'm expecting some additions to the backwards compatible list but nothing massive.
  20. Tried a little bit of San Andreas yesterday as I'd already downloaded it. Got as far as the first achievement which prompted me to stop. Like others have said the image is too dark. Putting aside all the other technical issues for a second I really don't understand what's going on there. Games forcing you to set their brightness level the first time you start them can be an irritant but it's way better than this. Few more points -I had forgotten about the RPG elements in this game. -I don't mind the look of it. It's clearly an old game that's been tarted up but once they sort the performance issues it'll look fine -Sweets a fucking arsehole.
  21. I'm not sure about the idea of limiting it to Gamepass subscribers. Feels like they'd be hurting their chances of hitting a massive week one number that they could stick in a press release and crow about. It's a bit too soon after Forza as well. It's a nice idea but I'm not convinced. Maybe a final "beta" next weekend limited to Gamepass subscribers but your progress carries over to the full release?
  22. Writer for Venturebeat/Gamesbeat. He's got a good track record when it comes to Microsoft stuff so this is probably happening. I like the idea of bringing back 1 Vs 100 but that's tempered a bit by knowing just how much talk there will be on here about how it's a great way to earn your Microsoft points so that you can get Gamepass for free etc.
