It definitely wasn't explained but, once you've noticed the buttons in the bottom right hand corner (X, Y and B on the switch) with your in play squad of three to choose from, it's not that difficult to work out. The other thing is that the 'spin' will sometimes give you a one, two or three quickening special moves and if you use up a team member's 3 quickenings all in one go, you will need to hit a mist charge next time you get a chance to bring that player's quickenings back into play

Quickenings is all about watching the bottom right of the screen after triggering the first quickening and then triggering (within a time limit) a sequence of follow up quickenings from the other team members. Each team member can get up to three quickenings and these can be recharged when used if you're quick enough too. I managed to get a max sequence of 15 once but 7 to 12 was more common
  4. Quickenings and getting to know how to use them are pretty darn crucial, especially early in the game against some of the bosses. I'm not sure they're exactly self explanatory but the idea is to trigger a series of back to back quickenings and if you can sequence enough you can do big damage. One quickening on its own is a complete damp squib
  5. I just completed FF12 twice back to back on switch (didn't bother with new game plus which felt a bit crap). I really don't think it matters much what licences you go for - I just looked up what I had at completion second time round and it was Vaan - Knight/Bushi (level 61), Penelo - Red Battlemage/Black Mage (level 61), Ashe - Foebreaker/Shikari (level 56), Fran - White Mage/Machinist (level 30), Basch - Knight/Time Battlemage (level 36) and Balthier - Uhlan/Monk (level 24). Every team and role set up sort of works together as long as you think things through. As you can guess my lead team for this play through was Vaan, Penelo and Ashe, with me bringing in Fran tactically every now and then mostly for a dispelga and a nifty pre-battle protectga and occasionally a curaja or arise, Basch less often but mainly for slowga and haste and poor old Balthier very rarely but from memory I think he had curaja too. Oh and I used all of them if a battle needed two lots of quickenings. To be fair Balthier played a front line team role first time through

  7. I really need to play a new game on switch and could do with a couple of recommendations. I keep periodically buying new games, don't get me wrong, but just can't get into them --> my more recent damp squib recent purchases include: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (previously completed on PS4 but can't do with the first person perspective at all), Divinity Original Sin 2 (far far to complicated to play handheld), Balders Gate 1&2 (again too finicky to play), FFVII (I really struggled with the controller set up), Dragon Quest XI (boring ), Astral Chain (just couldn't get into it - not really my kind of game I guess), Hollow Knight (great but too hard for me to want to be arsed with), Disgea 5 (really really fucking annoying), FFX (god knows why I liked it first time round). There's lots of others stand out games that I don't play too, like Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart, but to put my switch gaming into perspective I have been playing a core bunch of games over and over and over again: Zelda Breath of the Wild --> over 540 hours of play time and at least 5 play throughs Final Fantasy XII - 165 hours and two play throughs Fire Emblem 3 Houses - 260 hours and 4 play throughs Final Fantasy IX - 45 hours and only one play through (so far) but I'd previously played it through twice on iPhone and twice yonks before that on PS2 Valkyria Cronicles 4 - 145 hours - can't remember how many play throughs that is For christ's sake give me another great game to play..... otherwise I think it might be Zelda BOTW once more
  8. Yeah I wear it most of the time. It's great for bug and lizard collecting
  9. Remember to keep upgrading your armour and using attack improving food. There's one great armour set in the game that, when you've got it all, increases your attack stat too. (I haven't yet got that in this play though but know exactly where to go and what to do to get it )

I must be playing a different 'master mode' to you Whilst silver (and gold) enemies do take a fair amount of damage to kill I'm finding that the enemies, so long as I take them on individually if I can, are not too bad. Yep certain weapons are very brittle while others last longer but there's loads of weapons in this game. Break one? Pick up another. Also especially with tougher enemies mix it up by using arrows (ice, fire, shock and blast if you have them) and bombs. If the baddy drops its weapon pick it up and use it yourself
  11. I'm playing master mode now and have just reached Zora. I haven't done any divine beasts yet (or fought a lynel) but will shortly be going for the elephant. To begin with fights were well avoided but now that I've got some reasonable armour and harder hitting weapons it's not too bad. Multiple enemy camps are really tricky but I've been single cooking ingredients for immediate health, defence, offence, speed etc power ups and they help immensely. Also getting bomb+ helps a bit although there's absolutely no point in fighting enemies from a distance as, unless you can one shot them, their health regenerates. Enemies appear more plentiful, one level higher and like I said have health regeneration. I'm guessing that the bosses will take longer to take down but will have the same basic fight routines
  12. In master mode there's a lynel now on the starting plateau. And nope I didn't try and kill it in my swimming trunks with tree branches and wooden bow without any arrows.....
  13. Anybody else playing in master mode? I'm sure finding raiding moblin camps a "bit" more testy than before (although to be fair I've only recently leveled up to five hearts ). Every baddy is at least a level higher I think but I'm sure there are more enemies too, often with a couple of grey/silver moblins knocking about as well. To cap it all my tried and tested routine of loosening them up with a few bombs is by and large rubbish now as they can recover health! I've mainly avoided baddy camps thus far but am now starting to test my arm, what with a few reasonable weapons and some basic armour to hand. Cooking in master mode sure as heck is really needed as are sneak attacks and getting 'em while they're sleeping. Christ knows what a lynel will be like...
  14. In my now master mode play through I've just done the dueling peaks shrines as my 6th and 7th shrines of the game so far. With 4 hearts and no stamina upgrades (but with the climbers hat). It didn't seem very difficult at all but maybe I can 'read the land' better nowadays (I found the climbers hat in a chest in the 5th shrine)
  15. Having thoroughly rinsed this game already (200+ hours) I had a brief go at Horizon Zero Dawn (to the point of learning/trying to learn the complicated monster tracking hud in the tutorial) and have now come 'home' and started from scratch in master mode
  16. No weapons but just certain armour sets. He is supposed to also sell replacement hylian shields too but, as I've yet to find that, I can't confirm it for sure

Damn I thought I had all the sets From memory I have the hylian set, the barbarian, soldier, ancient, radiant, dark, stealth, rubber, snowquil, desert voe, climbing, belly dancer, goron, champions tunic, thunder helm, warm jacket, sand and snow boots. I also have a couple of jewelled circlets (but couldn't see the need to buy any earrings). I don't have any amiibos so won't have any of that stuff. It'll be interesting to see what I get when I've nailed all the shrines
  19. So after at least 150 hours of play (93 shrines thus far), all armour sets collected, all beasts done (for ages now), Ganon done, I'm amazed at the things I'm still discovering. Although I knew she was up there somewhere I've recently come across the shield surfer dudette Selmie and not that far away from her a snowball tenpin bowling guy Ive also realised (duh!) that wearing my stealth gear whilst roaming about means that it's a doddle to collect bugs and flying insects. Why didn't I think of that before now?

  21. It really, really doesn't. Firstly you can see the weather and how long it might last so waiting out a rain storm is always an option. And secondly you get an ability from one of the Divine beast quests that greatly helps travelling vertically. Thirdly you can often find a way up many of the hills regardless - fast travelling to a shrine up top that you've already opened up for instance or using stamina to boost yourself over small climbs
  22. The thunderhelm quest is plain and simple - clear up all of the problems in Gerudo and Bob's your uncle.
  23. I don't understand the quest marker issues at all. The quest marker will always get you to the quest giver and the quest giver will always give you a hint or direction or even a point within plain sight to head for. And you can then mark your map a lot of the time to help you get to where you need to go
  24. I've perfect parried a couple of flying guardians but it does take 5 parries to get them down. Use an ancient shield if you want to keep it easy
  25. Which was a great thing. Waiting for the weather to clear, trying to bash on regardless or finding a cave to sleep it out
