I’m going to Birmingham, it’ll be the 4th time I’ve seen them - Ozzfest (?) at Milton Keynes in 2001, then Wembley and Brixton on the 10,000 Days tour. Epic each time, although probably fair to say the Ozzfest crowd didn’t really know what to make of them.
  2. In about an hour's co-op play this morning we had one full crash of the Xbox, one hang on loading a new area, one error loading save and one instance where the camera stayed fixed on a lift even though the action (and our characters) were off to the left somewhere. Having said that, the pod race is quite good fun, which I definitely wasn't expecting.
  3. @Garwoofoo Can you adjust settings for the split screen to a dynamic split like in the earlier Lego games? That wasn’t frustration-free either but might help with about 10% of your (valid) concerns. Re inverting: on Xbox I definitely had to set it on a per-player basis so I’m pretty sure you can have one player inverted and the other not on that console anyway. My son constantly wants to swap controllers if the game assigns me the story character he wants to play though so I just set everything to inverted pretty quickly. He’s not bothered either way but I’m training him with inverted as is good and proper.
  4. For a game ostensibly aimed at kids (and ageing geeks like me) there is a lot of very obtuse UI stuff in here! It just took us a couple of minutes to figure out how to get from a story mission to a different hub area We had spotted that menu thing, but even though we had slotted characters in the second bit we were limited to our 2 characters- L-R switching didn’t do anything and we had to dig into the menus. Hopefully we will get the hang of it soon as one of my son’s mates is coming round during the Easter holiday and they will want to play this a lot!
  5. That seems to work in levels but not hub/free play areas? That seemed the way yesterday evening, we were forever digging into menus to change characters while playing in the Jundland Wastes in free play, it was very fiddly and was really getting in the way of the fun.
  6. It looks like Achievements only unlock for the ‘main’ logged in account as well - when we played through the Batman and Marvel games on PS all the logged in accounts would get the trophy if one was unlocked. So for example the achievement for completing A New Hope only unlocked for him although we played through it together. Just fired it up in Remote play and it insisted on playing in split screen although it was only my son playing. The character select screens are really fussy too. this one is probably me being too used to how earlier games did it though - tap Y and choose from big list of characters. This splits them out into sub-menus of different classes by pressing down on the D pad and we haven’t figured out a quicker way (if there is one) yet. The menus generally are quite bewildering.
  7. This definitely needs a patch or two. Playing on Series X and there is a lot of stuttering, two crashes and loads of issues with coop play - failing to go back into split screen after a cutscene, booting one of the players and also not saving progress so we just had to replay most of A New Hope again. The building can be unnecessary fussy and the character’s head will often obscure the whole screen when aiming with a blaster. That said, it’s great fun, obviously made with real love for the films and there is an almost intimidating amount of stuff to do.
  8. Here’s a video of our first win this season, I play in a group most Thursday evenings. We’re a bit split on no building - none of us are good builders so it is evening the game out a bit, but I like the extra tactical aspect in the late game. Maybe have building on a cool-down after a few panels so people can’t spam these huge monster castles in seconds?
  9. I hated that gun at first, but as soon as I realised it was a beast when combined with a SMG for close up work, I loved it. Hopefully it will be back soon.
  10. I think they have put loads of XP behind the Milestone quests, which I haven’t been chasing down much, and less thank previous seasons in dailies and season quests. I think i need to do a lot of fishing!
  11. Luckily one of our group has family living close by so we’re staying there overnight, still a bloody lot of driving that weekend though
  12. Me and 2 mates are seeing them at the Eden Project this summer. Haven’t seen them since the Wave Goodbye (?) tour years ago. This after Tool in May, it’s like being a 16 year alt-metaller all over again
  13. My first solo VR of the season last night too. Was quite funny as I was in party chat with a friend who was waiting for us to start a duos game and I kept saying ‘shall I quit out’ and he said ‘nah, keep going, you never know what will happen’. Quite right!
  14. I haven’t had a BR yet this season, but second quite a few times and had 9 elims in one round last night. Sliding is good fun! Quite enjoying the new map although some of it feels a bit empty, I guess it’s going to change a fair bit in coming seasons though. Just need to get to know a few decent places to get tooled up now.
  15. I played this on the Wii back in the day and got quite far (Earth Temple I think) but put it down because reasons. I was really enjoying it at the time and hadn’t really noticed a lot of the criticisms. Playing it again now and again really enjoying it. Mostly handheld rather than motion controls this time. The art style is less charming than WW, but the dungeons are classic Zelda and I really like the linear nature of it - as someone who keeps bouncing off BOTW, Skyward Sword is really what I look for in a Zelda game.
  16. Oh bastard, I’ll be up North seeing an old friend then. I’ll have to either miss it or log in with my Switch in the pub and accept the merciless pisstaking thereafter.
  17. I got a Series X first, I sat out the One generation having had Xboxes since launch day of the first one. What a brilliant console the Series X is for all the reasons everyone else has been saying. I bought it through the Game Pass all access thing which almost feels like getting it for free! I bought a PS5 as well mainly through a bit of FOMO - I had some spare money at the time and thought I would future-proof my console cupboard a bit. I have mostly been using it for catching up on last-gen games I didn’t get round to - currently Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which looks quite astonishing in places. I had a PS4 last gen but gaming time was limited after my son was born a few years ago. The Xbox just feels like the nicer place to be so I expect it will be my multi-format machine and then I’ll pick up any PS5 exclusives I want although £70 for a new game is seriously off-putting. One criticism of the Xbox though is the short video capture time - a max of 1 minute I think? The PS5 can do an hour although you might need to reduce resolution etc. I like to post the occasional clip to YouTube and I far prefer to save a clip of the whole round and edit it down rather than remembering to save a clip when something notable happens. For this reason I tend to use PS5 for playing Fortnite in particular, although the game seems to look way more vibrant on the Xbox so I would rather be playing it there.
  18. I had another try of this last night and still couldn’t hit a fucking thing in Conquest mode. The maps are impressively big but as some have said, you really do struggle to get a feel for how the overall battle is playing out. Just concentrating on a couple of points seems to help, but then you start wondering why they bothered building such big maps anyway. I suspected it was just my atrophied skills, but I tried a BF3 game in Portal and got a couple of kills quite quickly so I wonder if its either netcode struggling with the bigger player counts or weird bullet modelling going on. It looks quite impressive in places and there is a game in there I want to like, but I’m not sure i have the time or patience to find my groove with it. Maybe with a few unlocks. If they put Locker/Metro in it so I can get familiar with the guns without having to run endlessly in giant maps I might like it a bit more…
  19. Yes, concentrate on the daily and weekly punchcards, the XP will soon stack up. The character punchcards are all party assist too I think, so if you can play in a group you all get XP whenever someone does a task. I went up about 10 levels in my Thursday night game with our group. I’m onto the gold tier bonus unlocks now. If you have one, the Switch version of the game isn’t great for playing seriously but perfect for loafing on the sofa and churning for XP while the wife watches Strictly.
  20. I saw this last night and really enjoyed it, although with some criticisms that others have already raised I this thread. I last read the book about 2 years ago and have seen the Lynch movie several times (and like it for all its faults). I thought Baron Harkonnen was a bit under-used and I would have liked to have seen a Guild Navigator - but as they have obviously decided to keep any sight of the Imperial Court to Part II I can understand this. Overall it didn’t impress me as much as BR2049 (which I loved) but I would happily have sat there for 3 more hours to see Part II straight after which must say something.
  21. I’ve just had one too, so same offer from me
  22. He’s got the gaming history and the patter so I’m hopeful. If he does it in the style of Independint Charles I could die happy.
