  1. Enjoyed this one to see in the New Year, but definitely can feel it today. Love my local brewery.
  2. I guess what I’m hankering for is perhaps the type of game that the Switch doesn’t really offer, so the big AAA adventure type games or FPS. Also interested in exploring some of the short < 5-10 hour games which I’ve maybe not been keen to pay the Switch tax for. So far I’ve set the following to download: Carrion (and played about 30 mins last night) Forza Horizon 4 Spiritfarer Frostpunk (heard Sean talk about it on TCGS and liked the sound of it) Ori and the Will o the Wisp Outer Wilds (again one I remember Mat raving about on TCGS)
  3. I’m on board with a Series X which my wife very generously got me for Christmas. I’ve basically skipped a generation having had a 360, but since then the only console I’ve had is a Switch, which I absolutely love and expect to continue playing. I’ve taken advantage of the 3 year Game Pass Ultimate hack by upgrading three years of Gold Live for a £1. The problem is, I have absolutely no idea where to start. Missed so many games over the past years. A bit overwhelming looking at the whole list of Game Pass games. I plan to try and rinse those before actually buying anything not on Game Pass if I can. Also I have precisely zero friends on my friends list, so feel free to add me. Gamertag is in my signature!
  4. Guess when I had a baby...
  5. I’ve got a box of 12 beers from the local bottle shop but held off from buying the traditional Belgian Blue mini keg which I’d planned on. Now we’re just having 5 of us on Christmas Day and then no other visitors I don’t feel like polishing it all off myself and would prefer to mix it up a bit.
  6. Been wanting to play this for ages but we’re finally at the point where we can put our three month old daughter down in an evening and I can get some proper Switch time in, other than the odd quick go on Tetris99. What an incredible game. About 12 runs in so far and managed to beat Meg on my current run. Have left it saved at the start of the next floor. Loving the shield at the moment but will have enough keys when I die to get the spear.
  7. Among Us is definitely hit and miss when playing with randoms. I’ve had some brilliant games but also a lot of stinkers too. It’s nearly always fun when you get to be imposter though. I’ve been playing it a lot on my iPad (free on iOS) so probably unlikely to get the Switch version which might be a bit more fiddly.
  8. Thought episode 9 was one of the best of the series. Lost it at Johnny’s beer mat house.
  9. I loved 24 back in the day. The first season was great as it felt totally fresh but the 2nd half of the season felt like a totally different show almost. Season 2 I enjoyed at the time but looking back was one of the weaker ones. 3 is one that perhaps was underrated when it broadcast but is among the best in my opinion. The whole virus thing particularly relevant right now too. 4 is a bit unmemorable and I didn’t really enjoy the Jack/Audrey relationship. 5 is the bonkers, throw the kitchen sink at it season but somehow it does work and is one of the better stories. It’s got the Logan character as an enjoyable villain. 6 is possibly my least favourite with the whole Bauer family angle. It just made the world needlessly smaller and his brother I didn’t buy at all. 7 and 8 I barely remember at all and reading the Wikipedia page hasn’t really brought any of it back. The half season set in London was a bit weird but did get some enjoyable shots of Wembley at least.
  10. I think this is largely true. And to an extent they are a supermarket beer as you regularly see them in all the major shops (at least in and around Sheffield). They’re definitely not on the cutting edge with the most exciting beers. However, I know that if I get a mixed case from them every beer is solid at worst and their pricing for their online shop is very attractive value. I wouldn’t want to drink Thornbridge all the time but I enjoy all of their staples. Jaipur remains a very good IPA even if times have moved on since it launched. Green Mountain is a decent session NEIPA. Florida Weisse is very drinkable raspberry sour and to be honest I enjoyed Lukas more than ever for the first time this past summer as a great easy-drinking BBQ lager. I’m probably a bit biased in their favour as it’s close to me geographically and my old local in Sheffield is a Thornbridge-run pub and so I’ve had a lot of their beers down the years, second only to another Sheffield brewery Neepsend.
  11. Agreed, don’t think there is a bad beer in the Thornbridge core range. Been to a new beer shop near me today and got a nice little haul which should see me through for a little bit.
  12. Got to get my hands on this stuff...
  13. Weird that they call it a Madagascar special because that first bit of the clip is on Reunion island, as I vividly remember that road from a trip there last year.
  14. I was never excited about seeing This Country based on the adverts either, but my other half wanted to watch it and I’m glad we did. A surprisingly charming and warm hearted programme. Hopefully DMC’s appearance on Taskmaster will give it more exposure.
  15. Lucy Mangan has some really questionable views on TV. I always liked her as a feature writer in the past but not sure the move to TV is right, she gave Chernobyl 3/5 for crying out loud!
  16. Placeholder for now but looking something like... 01 - Waxahatchee - Saint Cloud 02 - Phoebe Bridgers - Punisher 03 - Katie Malco - Failures 04 - AJJ - Good Luck Everybody 05 - Soccer Mommy - color theory 06 - Ratboys - Printer’s Devil 07 - Jeff Rosenstock - NO DREAM 08 - Nat Vazer - Is This Offensive And Loud? 09 - Sinai Vessel - Ground Aswim 10 - Fenne Lily - BREACH Might be some in my top 20 that break into the top 10 so will come back to it.
  17. Didn’t we do the decade list last year? Looking forward to putting my 2020 list together, feel like I’ve listened to a lot more music this year due to working at home.
  18. Can only echo what’s been said. Absolutely loved this as someone who played a lot of chess when I was younger. And the actor playing Harmon was truly captivating.
  19. I’m currently working my way through a mixed case from my favourite Sheffield brewery - Neepsend Brewery. They’re a bit unknown outside of Sheffield as traditionally they were cask-led and they run 3 pubs as their tap houses. Pre-lockdown I used to do the pub quiz at one of their venues every week. They mainly specialise in hazy pales which is my kind of thing and with a relocation and COVID they’ve started canning beers. Their online shop is here: https://neepsendbrewco.com/shop/ I’m loving the ones I’ve had so far from this batch. Bought a t-shirt from them as well because why not?
  20. Got to the end of the demo (end of day 3 for anyone wondering) and then also had a couple of goes at the treasure high score game. As has been said, a really generous demo and I’m definitely going to get the full game, although hoping it’s available for less than £50 at some point (I’m digital only).
  21. Played a bit of the demo today and really enjoyed it. Didn’t own a Wii U so not played this since Pikmin 2 on the GameCube. Quick question, is there a way to split up my characters? So one goes to one part of the map with a group of Pikmin and another goes somewhere different?

    Among Us

Is anyone else playing this? Seems to have exploded on Twitch lately despite being launched a couple of years ago and is a really fun take on “Wink Murder” almost. I’ve been playing it free on iOS and even with randoms it’s been good fun, but it seems like playing with friends (and adding in voice comms over something like Discord) is where it really comes into its own. I am absolutely the worst at being imposter and end up killing someone just as someone else comes round the corner.
