  1. I always used to think the plot of Karate Kid III was really outlandish. Not so much now. Let's be honest if it came to light that Elon Musk was devoting his time and fortune on a petty plot to get one over on a teenager and an old man, would any of us be honestly surprised.

"There were whole sequences, planets, characters, and worlds that didn't end up in the movie that were hilarious and amazing and [that] we spent a lot of time and energy on, and certainly the entire crew also designing and conceiving. It's just amazing how much great material is not in the film, considering how much great material is in it. Usually, it's like, you're just trying to get enough good stuff to put in the film, and this had overflow. So that was really surprising."

I bet the artists were well pleased that all their work ended up on the cutting room floor because Chris Hemsworth was playing Whole Line Is It Anyway.

  3. There's a deleted scene doing the rounds that makes it look like a lot was changed at the last minute plot wise.

It's a good point about all the gods being selfish arseholes. Even the Asgardians with all their technology so advanced it might as well be magic are just using it run a chintzy tourist trap and shill cheap aftershave. The film feels like it’s on the verge of something thematically where the god characters we've been following realise they are squandering their gifts and should be helping civilisations instead. But it never materialises and you get a tacked on feeling power of love ending.

Yes it definitely feels like trying to get as much out of the brand while it still has any marketability left.

I can’t make head or tail of what they all are. The front page of Resetera felt like every other thread was about a different AC game.

An AC set in Baghdad with a tosser from Valhalla

An AC set in a Japan.

An AC set during the Salem witch trials.

A new AC multiplayer game in the style of the ones that came with the Ezio games.

AC Infinity which is some kind of AC as GaaS dealio (all the recent ACs have had GaaS stuff up the wazoo so I’m not sure of the difference).

    Is that right?

  5. I post far less in Film & TV than I used to as it seems like every thread is the same people scouring YouTube and Twitter to be the first ones to post tweets and videos with thumbnails of a bearded man looking outraged to go LOOK AT THIS. I never watch the videos as why on Earth would I want to watch 45 minutes of what Nazis think and have the algorithm decide I really want to know xXx~WhiteGOKU~xXx's views about black elves and fill up my YouTube front screen with them. I already know what they'll think and that I'll vehemently disagree with it. I get the impression some are more excited about those coming out than the show itself. It's almost impossible to just discuss media on its own merits anymore amongst the sheer amount of culture war noise in almost every thread. Depressingly, I know that we live in a time Incel Chuds are going to hate anything that has a woman or a person who isn't lilly white in a prominent role. I'm not a fan of megathreads, but we could almost do with one to discuss how the alt-right hate almost everything. As Benny said these posts just act as signal boosting the venom, even though it’s not their intention.

  6. Out of interest what did you think of Telling Lies?

That was getting high scores all over the shop but I found it like watching paint dry.

There was only so much of Pound Shop Tom Hardy over-emoting during dead air that I could take.

  7. I always find that Alan Sepinwall is a decent critic whose tastes tend to align with mine. He's pretty lukewarm on it.

I'll be interested in how this does. Apparently this has a ludicrously big marketing spend. Anecdotal evidence is worthless, but in terms of TV talk beyond forums like this one I don't think I've heard one person mention this in the office despite loads of people I work with being super into GoT at the time.
