I'm only surprised by the no-show for the GC version.
Noooooooooooooooooooo!
1st Driv3r and now Burnout.
Actually, now I have a (kind of) valid excuse to get an X-box

I've never really "got" the Metal Gear games (i've not really tried that hard) but I was watching my mate playing Substance (is that the 2nd 3-d one?) the other night and got right into it (between the cut-scenes).
So I shall also be purchasing this as a Metal Gear Virgin.

MC Lyte - Lyte As A Rock 1988 (Prince Paul):
Is that Prince Paul, I always thought it was Audio Two, though i'm probably wrong!
Very dope LP though, one of my all time faves.

To see the comparison between good and bad I think some people need to hear a few UK artists that devised their work in an inspired and innocent era...
here's a few...(this list hurt my brain)
Ruthless Rap Asassins
Top Billin' MC's
Caveman
Demon Boyz
Hardnoise/Son Of Noise
Gunshot
Hijack (12"s NOT the LP)
MC Mello
MC Einstein
London Posse
MC's Logic
GoldTop
MC Duke
Overlord X
3:6 Philly
Phase One
3 Wize Men
Freshki
London Rhyme Syndicate
Black Radical MK2
But you may have trouble finding these artists on Kazaa kids
^please note the
Good list!
I'd highly recommend this for anyone who wants to hear some classic UK ish:
Its like a history lesson with about 4 tracks from each artist mixed into their own little sections. It features all the classics from London Posse, Blade, Krispy 3 etc, etc. plus a few Dj Woody freestyles (1 featuring his famous trumpet scratch).
Its banging!

No, I met Ben. As good as, though, you'll understand.
So Ben isn't Tim Westwood posting under a pseudonym?

I got hold of the latest Fabric Live album yesterday - a hip-hop mix by DJ Spinbad, and have to say it's the mutts.
That is all.
Wow, fabric have done a Spinbad mix CD?
I'll have to check that, his 80's mixtapes are legendary!

I have no doubts that it is me just missing the point. I'm sure it is great and stuff. It just doesn't blow me away at all. Scenario is actually a frustrating listen for me. It's the track I had in mind when I said the beats seemed rushed. Scenario promises much but it doesn't really deliver the stuff that I wanna hear. It grates after one listen, as I said about the whole album. Sorry, man. I'll go listen to it again just now.
this might be more up your street Cal:

I'm short of cash, so I'll only go if I can get in free. It should be a kick-ass show.
yeah, I was gambling on the freebie but my mates got a spare so i'm going to buy off him to be sure (its sold out now).

Some good recommendations already (although Derek B's pushing it
).
I'm off to Pete Rock on the Wednesday, anyone else going?
I keep meaning to check Thirstin Howl 'cos I hear nothing but good things but I keep forgeting, i'll look out for it.
Best Tribe LP? thats too hard a question for a Monday morning, for me it used to be Midnight Marauders but I think its Low End Theory now, theres not much in it though
I'll post some recomendations when i'm less busy.

Viewtiful Joe on GC: Hyped to the moon by the magazines. Gained excellent reviews. General agreement on video game forums that it is great (far less glowing praise than for Ico though). Sold reasonably well.
I also seem to remember Playstation fanboys saying things along the lines of: "VIEWTIFULIS TEHGAYER!!!!!2-DSUXGRAFFIX!1"
Surely it can only be a good thing if its released on as many consoles as possible?

Ha, I doubt even Sony could sell a game before its been released!

Personally, I love 1080!
I love the atmosphere and feeling you get just going down the mountain, especially on Tressle Trouble, the feeling of the wind pushing against your boarder, its the most realistic snowboarding game i've played (I haven't played SSX3 but if its anything like SSX2 I don't think i'll like it, I found it too gimicky).
And those gate challenges are so addictive, I was up to bloody 2 in the morning last night (one more go, just one more go
).

Oh bugger its on back order....WHY ME!
Just order it anyway.....when it finally comes through it will be a nice (cheap) surprise
If want something immediately though, they also have XIII (GC or XBox) for just £21, Wario World (GC) for £21, and Mario Sunshine for £12:85. Bargains!
Cheers for the heads up. Wario World and BG&E have just been ordered!

I think Mr. Nagoshi is telling fibs.
lifted from cube-europe.com:
Let us rephrase it.
According to Spong, an internet make-up-news-and-pretend-it's-real site, the preliminary work on Super Monkey Ball 3 is already underway at Sega's acclaimed R&D studio, Amusement Vision.
Nobody told Spong, but they made it up anyway, "AV is looking at greatly expanding the mechanic behind Monkey Ball. Some of the things they are working on should explode what is possible from the game, with complete spin, controlled with the second analogue stick, already in place in early tech demos."
They were also not told that at this stage, it's unlikely that anything of the game will be shown at E3, it's just too early and AV has been tied up on other projects, especially Nagoshi, who's been overseeing all kinds of games from across Sega's range. But it means that by the time they do get around to it, Spong can say "we told you so!".
Tim
Naturally, anything Spong says has to be taken with a pinch of salt (maybe that should be a handfull of salt) but still, it'd be a nice surprise.

As for SMB3 well in this months Edge doesn't Nagoshi say that he's working on new games and they're all original. So unless another part of the team is doing it don't hold your breath.
I think Mr. Nagoshi is telling fibs.
lifted from cube-europe.com:
Sega has revealed it is working on a second Super Monkey Ball sequel.
According to Spong, an internet game database, the preliminary work on Super Monkey Ball 3 is already underway at Sega's acclaimed R&D studio, Amusement Vision.
One insider told Spong, "AV is looking at greatly expanding the mechanic behind Monkey Ball. Some of the things they are working on should explode what is possible from the game, with complete spin, controlled with the second analogue stick, already in place in early tech demos."
Doesn't look like they'll show anything though:
"They were also told that at this stage, it's unlikely that anything of the game will be shown at E3, it's just too early and AV has been tied up on other projects, especially Nagoshi, who's been overseeing all kinds of games from across Sega's range. "
I also read on the same site that they've confirmed it'll be LAN compatible!

Do you reckon they'll be any news on SMB 3?

do you, I thought you could play with just 2?
You're correct, it can be played with 2, as I've done. And may I add, it's CLASS!
Alright, no need to rub it in

I know what your saying Jim, I too used to hate caves but grew to love em, there are some great ledges with views below so you can pick people off without them realising.
My mate used to always play as Grace Jones and he used sing'Slave To The Rhythm' as he slew me. Memories.

I'd love to play 4 swords and seeing as my flatmate has a copy of GBA LttP as well as me that should be possible.
Except that mine is a US copy and his is PAL
thanks a fucking lot Nintendo.
Don't you need 4 of them to even play it?
do you, I thought you could play with just 2?
if so thats even more

Oh come on! Pistols and Sniper Rifles etc. on one-hit kills surely leads to a more skillful game (from the point of view of good accuracy and cunning).
I usualy find that leads to people being 'teh gayers' by hiding and that just leads to a boring stand-off.
Nope, I prefer running around like a lunatic with all guns-a-blazin'!

In answer to a few pages back:
@ Fusty:
Showbiz & AG's Runaway Slave is my fave LP too! B)
@Afterbirth:
Regarding your comments on the Biz Markie LP; I couldn't agree more BUT... If you can get hold of the tracks that weren't put on the final LP due to sample clearance problems, you'll hear the record Biz meant to make - and its slammin'.
I think they've got a few left over at www.rapandsoulmailorder.com - BUY IT NOW BEFORE IT SELLS OUT!
oh and I think De La's best Lp was De La Soul Is Dead - people never mention it but I think its as timeless as the Beasties Pauls Boutique LP.
my two pence.
