  1. My concern is the lack of progress, from when Smith was sacked. We’re still a streaky team who aren’t mentally tough enough. We’ll win a few games on the bounce and look ok, then fall apart for the next few. Too much quality to go down, not enough grit to threaten anything. For all Gerrard’s talk of how he has a philosophy, I can’t see it. He still doesn’t seem to know what his best team is. He appears to have fallen out with Mings and Watkins - both of whom seem popular in the dressing room. McGinn as captain? Midfield is our problem area, and making one of our worst players undroppable seems foolish. Kamara has to play, so only one place is up for grabs. I think the bulk of the squad is good. There haven’t been many disasters - nothing in the Balaban class. Bertie is too inconsistent and we’ve not used Dougie the best, but I’m sure a better manager would get more out of them. I know you think Poch is unobtainable, but the board are rich and determined. I’m not convinced he couldn’t be brought in. Other than him, I don’t know who’s available and good.
  2. If I was in charge, I’d be breaking the bank to get Poch in. Can’t see anything in Gerrard that gives me any confidence that he can build an effective team. Agree about Sanson - I haven’t seen much of him, but from what I’ve seen, he’s comfortable on the ball and can control it when under pressure - which are two advantages over McGinn. Pretty sure he played in France with Kamara, so there’s probably an understanding there already.
  3. I think this might be a long old season. I thought Kamala played ok, but nothing round him.
  4. More sad news. Alan Grant, prolific writer of Dredd, Strontium Dog, Ace Trucking and many others has passed away. https://2000ad.com/news/alan-grant-1949-2022/ Grant and Wagner were the backbone of 2000AD through it’s first golden age, and the prog wouldn’t be any where near what it is without Grant’s satirical wit and bite.
  5. I think it’s a sensible, if unspectacular signing. We need cover for Digne and I don’t rate Young defensively, certainly not for potentially extended periods. I though Chrisene was quite highly rated, presumably this means he’ll go out on loan to get some game time?
  6. Tyrone Mings sat at home laughing his cock off, I’d imagine.
  7. Especially when that centre half is Harry Maguire. You’ve got to play a high line to try and get a goal back. Maguire can’t play in a high line as he has no pace and the turning circle of Mississippi paddle steamer.
  8. Well, we’re odds on to win the World Cup now.
  9. Nope. D’Angelo Barksdale getting killed in the wire. Was genuinely convinced he wad going to be a narrative thread across all the seasons.
  10. Amazing Film. Surely, everyone loves Young Frankenstein?
  11. The Dell? Someone sent me a photo, but wasn’t sure if it was real. Once they’ve finished training, they’ll be off to Fags and Mags in Tipton to get a Racing Post and 20 B&H for Mancini.
  12. Would agree with most of that, but I’d add Ramsay to the improvement pile.
  13. Graphic in the bottom left corner of 4 gave it away to me.
  14. Pretty good I’m imagine. His injury record would concern me, and I don’t see him as much of an upgrade on what we’ve got. Still, he’s played for Liverpool and is therefore a ‘winner’.
  15. Suggestions that Gerrard has told Konsa’s agent that he’ll listen to offers for him. Arsenal allegedly interested. Konsa is our best defender, not sure what he’s done to piss Gerrard off. I get the impression that Gerrard thinks a lot of the squad are mentally weak, and are happy settling for ending up 10th (or thereabouts).
  16. Looks like Garry Leach has passed away, he was 67. Probably most famous for drawing Alan Moore’s Miracleman, he drew some early Dredds and some of the first episodes of the VCs. Never fell out with Moore, which is a miracle in itself. https://www.cbr.com/garry-leach-miracleman-marvelman-obituary/
  17. Properly gutting news for me. They’ve been a constant companion on my dog walks for years.
  18. He’s already raised £17.5 million. Surely, this is more profitable than his normal deal. I wonder what his publisher thinks?
  19. There have been two previous Rebellion bundles. As far as I can see the only cross-over with this is Hondo City Blues, Mega City Undercover and (I think) one of the Devlin Waughs. This is mainly Treasury of British Comics bundle, which wasn't included before.
  20. There’s another Humble comics collection available. https://www.humblebundle.com/books/rebellions-masters-british-comics-featuring-judge-dredd-2000-ad-treasury-british-comics-books?fbclid=IwAR3kZSHRRlb3xRnW4y2-je9R98M9UQ6ICcACbMqhQ9rtWKRmfrx3GWJcRS0 Not just 2000AD, it includes a fair bit of rebellions treasury of British comics stuff. There’s also David Roach’s marvellous Masters of British Comic Art, and all three volumes of the Trigan Empire. Then there’s all three volumes of Charley’s War. From the prog/Meg, there’s Cursed Earth, The Small House and Day of Chaos. Plus three volumes of Lawless, featuring Phil Winslade’s epic hand drawn artwork. For less than £20, it’s an absolute no brainier.
  21. You think they’d be busting a nut to keep their place. Gerrard obviously has problems with their attitude, rather than their ability. He wanted Targett to stay and fight for his place, but he wasn’t up for it. Gerrard has repeatedly said he doesn’t want us to be a club who wins one, then loses one, and a lot of that speaks to the players being content to poorly along in mid table. I think there’ll be a lot of exits in the summer, including a fair few of our bigger names.
  22. Cam’s been poorly for a long time, hopefully he’ll be ok.
  23. Can't see anything about this anywhere. Where did you here it?
