No idea... Not really seeing the link?

I gave you the appropriate response to your question. Let's leave it there.

27th Jan edit: And indeed, it seems we'll be leaving it here forever, as the mods appear to be just fine and dandy with George's post* , and without any indication of wanting to clear up anything privately to me either for several weeks now, means if I continue to post here I'd be on a forum that supports posters like Broker whom seemingly adore cancel culture to the point that they don't care if it kills people, whilst also giving posters like George a free pass for lying and basically not gving a toss how others are spoken to as long as it fits a certain set agenda they really wish was 'fact' but isn't, and won't ever be. To me that is a disgusting standard of morals and treatment that I will not be supporting.

To the many who don't even pay attention to this thread and similar bubbled drama threads, continue to have fun gaming. I'll be around.

*whom seems to lack any ounce of self awareness when he says something like 'you’re doing that thing where you attach the intent you want to see in people to fit your argument and put words in their mouth because you’re disingenuous as shit."

To the dev poster here who cut ties with the dead dev, only to be told here they shouldn't feel guilty (couldn't be arsed to quote), is sadly just as inhumane/unemotional an action to be told. He died because within a week cancel culture cut ties with him, no judge, no jury. The very 'very' least you can manage is indeed, guilt. Guilt for beleving anything on face value and acting on it.

Seems I was banned for 3 months for saying this. The ban notes by @APM which the forum cannot see stated that I attacked/blamed the dev poster, which we'll just have to agree to disagree. It was not meant to come off as an attack, and in fact they were not even spoken to directly. I was telling off the guy who told the dev to basically not feel anything. That, to me, is wrong.

This is the kind of thing that affects us all as gamers and devs of the hobby alike, it is normal to feel guilt and shitty about a situation, no matter your stance on it or level of involvement. It is worse to tell someone not to feel, especially someone that appears to have known him to some degree. We all let our hobby down when shit like this happens, no one deserves topping themselves via media backlash. No one.

If defending my stance is a ban offence, perhaps the forum feels like we should have felt good and celebrated that the developer of Night in the Woods and Aquaria is gone (both great games) instead of any other emotions, then feel free. I do not feel I was in the wrong here for pointing out feelings, including negative ones like guilt, are okay to have. The only thing I could have added was 'by all'.

  3. First off thank you to @JPR for allowing me to join in the festivities despite unfortunately not being able to view/post on the forum at the time.

Santa's bag has been big and diverse this year:

Puyo Champions - As barebones as this release is, Puyo is one of those franchises I feel like I have a special relationship with, so I'm always happy to own more Puyo.

Valiant Hearts - Following last years gift of Ubisoft's take on Paper Mario, it'll be neat to see what they've come up with here.

Reign of Giants DLC for Don't Starve - I loved Don't Starve originally but then it felt like it released too much DLC all too quickly, this had been on the wishlist forever as a result.

Mount Your Friends - How did I not own this already? Fun times ahead.

Sniper Art of Victory - Ah yes, the FPS genre, maybe this will beat my all time fav fps of which I've played many: Goldeneye on the N64?

Metal Slug 3 - First played this one while on holiday to Turkey back in 2004 or so. Full arcade cab! I think the difficulty setting must have been on 1 though because I remember making it pretty far on a single credit, every metal slug I've played since destroys me after the first stage.

Noitu Love 2: Devolution - Sounded like a hentai game at first but no! Seems to be a good looking sprite run and gun. But maybe love is still found in-game? ^_^

Thank you for the generosity as always.

  4. Whilst I still have some releases to play of this year, if I even get around to playing them, I very much doubt this will be topped as my current GOTY.

When was the last time you could say you stayed at the title screen in a modern title just to admire and enjoy it? Not in BotW that's for sure.

It does nearly everything right. The Atari levels stick out like a sour thumb, they're nice for what they are and of course fit the song they go along with, but if the game overall is going to have slower sections, it needed more than this to fit in with everything else, they feel like oddballs as a result.

Well it's sure as fuck not going to be The Guardian or Metro covering the specifics of which region ROMs are available when you set the device to different languages.

They would be if I was the editor of all these newspapers. :quote:

Honest to god the PAL release has been a shit show. It's been out for weeks in Australia, there are a hundred moronic YouTube plebs all grinning like Cheshire cats in their "unboxing" thumbnails, and yet not one of these turd weasels has actually made a video dissecting and examining specifically which ROMs from which region are contained in the EU/Australia model.

Agreed, even the more normally knowledgable ones have been very lacking in telling us exactly what is being provided on the PAL MD. At the very most one observed that the Virtua Fighter rom still had the Genesis subtitle on the start screen: so it's the Genesis rom, but what about every other game?

I've simply assumed that M2 have been lazy and are using US/JP roms for everything. M2 have a habit of ignoring PAL/50hz even in their SEGA AGES releases (would it be so hard to add a toggle/give us the PAL rom too?) so it's no surprise it's a similar thing here.

  7. I have to say I'm disappointed at the vote tallies being closed off at the end of the year. Part of the charm of having the vote last a while into the new year is getting a chance to play through some of the years titles you may have either not finished yet or not have enough thoughts on yet to consider as a contender. This is especially true of the winter season generally being the time people get to play more games over the holidays.

I'll keep my complaints to a minimum however and move on. I'll fill in the gaps when it isn't 2am.

    Game of the Year

    A1. Sayonara Wild Hearts

    A2. Untitled Goose Game

Biggest Disappointment of the Year (game, hardware, or anything else)

    Z1. Pokemon Sword/Shield

Z2. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening

    Z3. Switch Lite

    Z4. Mario Kart Tour

Z5. New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe

    Sound Design of the Year

    Visual Design of the Year

    Writing of the Year

Gaming Format (System) of the Year

    F1. SEGA Mega Drive Mini

Yes, it counts. Because as much as Switch 'gets the games'/ as far as hardware goes the MD Mini has been a constant hype machine for me throughout the year. From SEGA finally firing AtGames to slowly revealing the games list, to releasing tower parts! Oh, and it looks as classy as ever helps too.

Publisher or Developer of the Year

Best Supported Game (released pre 2019) of the Year

Your game of the year that didn't come out this year (basically what is your favourite game you played this year that came out in 2018 or earlier)

Best game character of the year

    And the big one:

    Game of the Decade

    D1. BIT.TRIP FLUX (Wii, 2011)

    D2. Bejeweled 3 (PC, 2010)

D3. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii, 2011)

    D4. Cookie Clicker (Browser, 2013)

    D5. Undertale (PC, 2015)

    D6. Marvel Heroes (PC, 2013)

    D7. BIT.TRIP Presents...Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien (PC, 2013)

D8. To The Moon (PC, 2011)

    D9. Portal 2 (PC, 2011)

    D10. The Witness (PC, 2016)

Something you have to understand about my decade list is I'm treating it as a personal top 10. I'm not factoring in industry significance, titles pushing gaming forward, games which caused whole copycat crazes (mobas, fortnight), micro-transactions, none of that. These are purely games over the last decade that have factored into my life, helped me at the best and worst of times, or have good memories with others playing them. It's far easier this way, and feels better, too. Than to praise Witcher 3 for pushing things whilst also pointing out most of the industry ignored it and went micro-transaction crazy instead anyway, as one example.

This also factors out something like Sonic Mania, for as amazing as it is (and it is), on a personal level it didn't affect me, my 100+ hours playing it across all platforms is just  'fun times'. Not 'life' significant.

These have gone up on Amazon this morning, pricey at £35.99 but it does come with USB and OG dongles and a carry case.

Same question for all the controllers: 3 button, 6 button, and this wireless one: Please test the sonic thumb roll. You know what I mean. A couple of Amazon reviews last month complained about exactly that (it not being very good), and I want to know if it's a specific model, all of them or what. Else just stick to 8bitdo's model. It's not perfect (smaller) but the d-pad is fine.

Knowing exactly which kind of 3 button we've ended up with would also be nice (and if we can buy any separately). SEGA kept changing the insides throughout the Mega Drive's life, with the Made in Malaysia ones being my favored 3-button D-Pad (even better than the 6-button due to being larger, has a screw in the middle of the d-pad when you open it up) versus the earlier revisions which are stiffer in various ways (some put the D-Pad contacts behind the board!...another kind has no screw). It made me realize it's probably for this very reason third parties haven't been able to replicate the perfect SEGA D-Pad in the earlier days: SEGA themselves couldn't make up their mind for how smooth the thumb rolling should be until the 6-button! Which is, alas, smaller than the 3-button.

  9. My 2nd monitor broke recently so I've had to cancel my pre-order, saving up for monitor is more important for now. I've noticed the PAL tower parts in the SEGA Europe stream the other day and it annoys me to no end that there are currently no plans to sell them outside of the Japanese versions from Japan.

Being dead doesn’t stop you being a fucking scumbag, see Totalbiscuit. Pathetic, right wing, sexist cunts are desperate to turn all the dead sexist cunts into martyrs for people like you to rally around, people whose disgusting opinions you can trot out forever when you’re being nasty little bigots because you’re genuinely stupid enough to think that if someone is dead none of their repulsive ideas are up for discussion. But guess what? A dead racist, or a dead sexist, or a dead sexual abuser, is still a fucking cunt. Just like you are and will always be, no matter how hard you try to pretend you’re just misunderstanding so you can keep trolling the people on here stupid enough to be trying to educate you out of your endless, hateful bigotry.

You've responded exactly how I expected you might. You are fueled with hate and bile with absolutely anything that isn't you, which I'd normally find sad, except your schoolyard bully attitude deserves no pity and thankfully, is being called out by others on the forum as well.

It is a absolutely hilarious you mention me and hate in the same line when compared to yourself.
