This Is Going To Hurt (BBC, 2022) - 5/5 I was engrossed in the Adam Kay book, reading it in just over a day and laughing out loud repeatedly. The TV series had me laughing, crying and nodding in recognition (at how broken the NHS is). Brilliantly written and acted, powerful stuff.

In Gothik you are trying to find the bones of Hasrinaax, the player character from Druid/Druid II: Enlightenment. The original Druid was then remade/reworked as Warlock: The Avenger. As for samples, it’s down to the sample rate and playback routine. There are some amazing demos using more complex techniques, but this one in Gothik definitely sounds like an 8-bit sample where many are 4-bit.

Same here. Roger gave me my first regular writing job on Commodore Force, and in recent years I worked with him on books, Annuals and the revived ZZAP. I was also lucky enough to meet him and Oli at retro events. Roger was a genuinely wonderful person that I will miss deeply.

Superb as ever. Mind you, I did laugh when they mentioned the street in Halifax where my friends used to live.

I loved meeting and talking to Archer at retro events over the past twenty years, and had the pleasure of interviewing a few times either on his own or as part of a panel. A genuinely nice guy and an incredibly talented programmer.

Best refereeing performance of the tournament. Incredible match all round.

Terramex is one of those best played with a map/solution to hand. I did like the fact there were different things to do for different characters, and it got a decent Archimedes port.

Foakes back and young spinner Reham in. Will be interesting to see if we can get that third win. (Rawalpindi pitch for the First Test rated “inadequate” by the ICC assessor - for not offering help to the bowlers. Makes it even more impressive we took 20 wickets on it.)

Impact reviewed badly, but it’s not that bad. Yes, there are better games on the C64 in that genre but it is fun to pick up and play for a few minutes - or even design a few screens.
