  1. It’s the same every season with refereeing. The first half dozen fixtures will be officiated to a completely different set of rules that were cooked up over the summer and then we’ll settle back to normality when everyone kicks off loudly enough. What was it last year, handballs or something? Yellows for keepers wasting time? Hang in there, it’ll go away soon. Just a way for Mike Riley to justify his ascension to king of the melts.

I genuinely can’t believe we managed to get Odegaard for that money. I’d argue that’s the best signing since Sanchez in a lot of ways. When you consider it’s half of what it would take to get someone like Maddison it’s an absolute no brainer.
  3. That's ace! Great suit game too. Was sad to hear that Ronald Bell died recently. Kool & the Gang made some seriously incredible stuff. I mean, this is such a cool piece of music.

I think a lot of player's agents are holding out for the best deals. If nothing comes up then they'll sort something towards the end of the window I reckon. Players like Nelson and Nketiah can leave for free next summer and will be fairly desirable you would imagine, but for Cedric, Willian and Kolasinac for instance, not making the match day 20 at this stage is effectively an enforced retirement. They're on ridiculous wages, but for 99% of footballers just sitting on your arse for the last years of your short career isn't what they want. Bellerin and Xhaka are still good players so it's not a problem if they stay, it's just they're completely wedded to a period of complete mediocrity in most people's minds.

He has the potential to be one of the best so this would be a brilliant signing if they manage to pull it off. Amazed other teams aren’t in for him to be honest.
  6. This is great, but as something of a super fan I would say it is basically a long form Banged Up Abroad. That’s absolutely great by me and not a criticism in the slightest as I consider that a brilliant programme and could watch this story unfold an infinite number of times. I think what this really nails though is that feeling of complete disbelief you get when something goes completely tits up. Like you scrape your car against the side of the garage or drop tomato soup down a favourite t-shirt and have that slow resignation that life can’t go back to that time when everything was breezy and nice. Only this is being chucked in a south of the border hellhole with the world’s media filming it all.
  7. Our players are so loyal we literally have to pay them to leave!
  8. I never thought I'd see the day when any DX was slagged off. We may as well shutter this folder frankly.
  9. I remember Arsenal fans being in total denial that Fabregas would ever go on strike to force a move, until later when it became completely apparent that that's exactly what he did. Clinging to PR from the player's representatives about the player returning late for perfectly valid reasons. There's not really anyone to be annoyed at. Kane has an agreement to leave and Levy will get Spurs a great price for him once this all runs its course.
  10. Glad to be of service! Here's a nice track from the returning Anushka proving that lovers rock still has a few tricks.
  11. How can you spend a billion pounds and have Ake and Mendy playing for you. Pep should be put away.

I think you’d need a director of football and manager duo as Edu would inevitably be out with Arteta. Conte is a fantasy as there’s no way he’d come in to work with these idiots and he would require some serious investment behind him, so I think everyone should just forget about that. I do feel bad for Arteta as he’s a decent bloke obviously and would have been a fool to turn down the chance, but he’s just making no progress. The idea of working with young players is a sound one, but we’re not looking any closer to introducing a style of play nearly two years in now. I honestly haven’t a clue who I’d get it as no massive name would touch us at the moment, so we might have to go through a few coaches until one clicks.
  13. Mari plays like the sort of defender you get for £5m.
  14. I find it unlikely he’ll grow another 4 inches though. Also playing as a two he’ll actually need to defend rather than just pass forward. It’s not writing him off, but we’ve all been saying for weeks that his wasn’t a position that needed filling and he was about £25m too much for the level he’s played at. For the money he needs to be one of the best defenders in the world and he’s just been run absolutely ragged by a couple of Championship forwards. It’s a criticism of Arsenal’s terrible recruitment not the player as such.
  15. I’d not quite realised how much of a short arse Ben White was until he was getting comprehensively dominated every time he challenged for anything over 5 feet in the air. A lot of money to spend on someone to step three paces out of the back line and spray the ball towards no-one. Also his ear ring is an insult to everything Martin Keown died for.

Four right backs on the books and we finish the game with a left back there, sort of sums up where we are.
  17. It’s not a foul he’s just not competed for it.

A high line with zero pressure on the ball is just suicide. Can’t believe this was the plan we’ve spent all summer scheming away at.

Fair play to Arteta as he could have gone ultra conservative under the circumstances.

I think in fairness Tavares is an upgrade auxiliary left back by virtue of actually existing.
  23. If you're struggling to source one my partner has a spare hidden under some pants in her bedside table. I've never even heard her mention an interest in Amiga gaming let alone see her play one so I'm sure it wouldn't be missed.

I guess it's not my money, but with players like him and the ones we've bought already they don't improve our first 11 so it's hard to get excited. I think clubs are just searching for safe places to put their money, like when investors panic and buy a load of gold or whatever it is they do. We made a big mistake when we kept our fabled war chest sealed shut all those years when other clubs made a killing on player immortalisation, so maybe they've seen young English players as a shrewd investment? That is literally the only reason I can see to spend £80m on two players who are unlikely to amass 20 career England caps between them.
  25. I think he wants another tilt at the European Cup and really PSG are the only option on the table that could promise that whilst still trousering his normal wages. Plus it’s probably an attractive place to take it easy as he winds up to a World Cup seeing as he only needs to get out of first gear for about 5 games in that league. PSG is such a soulless club to be put out to pasture in though, even their own fans can’t stand them.
