  1. He did! The Zike! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinclair_Zike
  2. My 128K Toast rack made the trip over the Atlantic with me. Such an important part of my childhood and likely why I'm in computing today. God bless the mad bastard with no eye for quality control.
  3. Interesting interview with Kevin: https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2021/sep/13/kevin-mccloud-would-never-spend-on-a-kitchen-grand-designs
  4. I love the Case Files as you get all the "good Dredd stuff" (the epics, etc) right alongside the sillier side of the premise: "Dredd arrests Del Boy and puts him in the Iso-cubes for 12 years" and things like that. I think America works better once you've read a few years of the strip rather than using it as an introduction. Also, there's some great old John Smith insanity up on the 2000AD shop as digital-only offerings: Slaughter Bowl! Firekind Revere
  5. Especially since it had been around on the C64 (and a few Spectrum games too) for years before Namco did it…
  6. Series 11 was broadcast in Oct 2018, Series 12 started in Jan 2020. Episode counts varied from 12/13 in the Moffat era down to 10 in the Chibnall era.
  7. Then why has it not returned to a more regular schedule with Chibnall?
  8. It's the BBC that have dwindled the amount of episodes, not really Moffat or Chibnall.
  9. The Amelia Gething Complex: a loony-tunes show that I hope is as formative to 10-11 year olds right now as Dark Season & Maid Marian were to me at that age. Highlights include: a romance with a lift, a London apartment hidden inside a turkey, TELETEXT JOKES, multiple apocalypses, Dull World, and a dark future ruled by wasps. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p07ppjrf/the-amelia-gething-complex-series-1-1-moving-in?seriesId=p07ppjkc
  10. My So-Called Life! Given what I remember of the commentaries, the proposed episodes for Clerks: TAS Season 2 would have been enjoyable (I've long felt that ABC enforcing broadcast standards on Smith produced some of his best work).
  11. That’s all true - but Moore’s relationship with DC had died twice (Watchmen & ABC) and it still took ten years after and Levitz leaving before DC went and got the ball rolling with Before Watchmen. My concern is that the deal is totally a gentleman’s agreement and as soon as it becomes financially attractive to whoever owns DC, they'll do what they want with it. (where’s Miracleman, Neil? Where’s Miracleman?) EDIT: And if the rumours about the scuttling of Vertigo were true (that it was partly due to Time Warner rubbing their hands together at all the IP…right up until they saw the creator contracts), then I think we'll see this sooner rather than later. After all, if people were willing to sign up to work on Before Watchmen, they'd jump at the chance of doing Sandman stuff.
  12. Sadly, it'll probably end up like Moore in the end - Watchmen was 'protected' until Paul Levitz left, and I imagine when Marie Javins retires, the edict that protects the Endless will likely be lifted as soon as it becomes economically expedient. (Although it's not like it hasn't happened - Death was in TMK LSH v38 and Daniel appeared during Morrison's JLA run, and a few others through the years already, but those were done with Gaiman's approval)
  13. It's always spoken as the arc where Gaiman feels it all comes together and is often suggested as the first book for new readers instead of Preludes. Plus everybody loves Lucifer.
  14. Surely that's just the 10NES/CIC chip, which wouldn't be part of a dumped ROM anyhow? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CIC_(Nintendo)
  15. I do like the audacity of callbacks to 27-year-old shows on primetime BBC1. And the ITV franchise prison talk was great…
  16. Play For Today Volume 2 out next month - apparently Volume 3 is in the works too. (can we get the Potter plays on Blu-ray?)
  17. I think, from his Twitter account, he's waiting for a new production run coming in, possibly next month.
  18. "Yeah, there's no way I'm coming back for S2" *1 minute later* "Dammit."
  19. That's fair! It's definitely not like, say a SNES Mini. But you don't have to know much to get it working either*. (* I actually thought about this the other day, and I will say that I have 25 years' worth of Linux experience, so I may not be the best judge of 'it's easy!'. I am also far too old, but that's another problem altogether )
  20. Yes, it can be a tinkerer's tool. But I also don't think it's that difficult to set up and go. I'm only using HDMI output, and to get things up and running, I didn't do much more than get the Mr. Fusion distro on the SD card using Apple Pi Baker, copy the update_all script to where it needs to be on the card, hook the thing up to an ethernet port and let it go. I only set up the wifi last weekend. Admittedly, trying to get Cannon Fodder (HD installed) on the minimig core still eludes me, but I did get Sensi working!
  21. Used a Mac here as well - no problems, and the update scripts have been painless so far (e.g. pressing a couple of arrow keys). Even setting up wifi was about as painless as it gets with Linux.
