  1. *chalks another entry into 'comic world would be a better place if Miller had never touched Batman'*
  2. It's only a matter of time before Mulberry is given the 'prestige series' treatment. (Brittas S1-5 is actually a lovely little sitcom with a stunt budget that would make many sitcoms in 2021 weep, so how they plan to deal with that could be interesting. Although they'll probably just have him in a different scenario that doesn't involve setting off explosions on an OB set…)
  3. Is anybody working on Rainbow Islands? That would be
  4. !!!!!!!!!! Now this is something!
  5. It’s a throwaway, but I really did love the Really & Truly strip. Obviously written by Morrison on E, but great silly fun and nice art by Rian Hughes.
  6. I built a thing. But This Was A Fantasy: An Adam Curtis Search Engine Type in a query (e.g. 'Tony Blair', 'a woman looking out of a car', 'Britain in the 1960s'), and via the amazing power of The Machine, you'll get five images that it thinks matches the query. (there are a few issues: I've only encoded the most recent series so far, and if it finds something it really likes, it'll mainly show frames from around that timecode, but considering I knocked the main functionality out on a Monday evening, it's not too bad)
  7. Also, if you haven't got / seen The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, go forth and rectify that immediately
  8. God I hated that film so so much for all those reasons.
  9. You Are The Generation That Bought More Shoes And You Get What You Deserve in the soundtrack!!!! EDIT: So apparently it was supposed to be the actual title of the series, but the BBC vetoed it for being too long. The bastards. Also, many years ago, I knocked this silly website out in an afternoon. I feel like I have been vindicated. http://youarethegenerationthatboughtmoreshoesandyougetwhatyoudeserve.com/
  10. Wait, so the plot is Superman: TAS's Legacy, but shit?
  11. Although if it does turn out to be a 6 x 30' studio-bound sitcom, it would be amazing.
  12. I do think there's a bit of a quality dip after 'Century of The Self'. But 'Pandora's Box / The Living Dead / The Mayfair Set' is a great run (and you can chuck in the Nick Leeson/Henrietta Lacks docs in there too). Also, before he invented the 'but they were wrong' voiceover, but a very early work which has its moments:
  13. You'd probably be able to get away with 'Battleships' (aside from possible trademark action), as the game pre-dates Milton Bradley's (now Hasbro) version. 'Blue Thunder' would be a much harder sell to get past…I guess Sony?
  14. I'm sure Mr. Bruno would have a word too. Maybe you just get a piece of paper saying you own the actual code. Though I wouldn't trust even that with 80s British software houses (except latter-day Ocean maybe).
  15. Send nasty letters to YouTubers and archives? Or: the world is waiting for an update to Duet!
  16. We should get the forum to invest in Turbo Esprit. Or Saboteur. https://www.elite-systems.auction/ip-rights-buy-sell/games-buy-sell/saboteur-for-sale_190 (as usual, don't trust Elite as far as you can throw them, but interesting)
  17. It sounds like there was a push by C4 to keep costs down (RTD wanted 8, they wanted 4, he bluffed them into having 5).
  18. Not available right now, but I did enjoy reading through this the last couple of months: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1681885670/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This is focused a lot more on chocolate, but does include a lot of very good cake recipes in it too along with the mousses, creams, and ganaches: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Encyclopedia-Chocolate-Frédéric-Chocolat-Valrhona/dp/2080203665/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=valrhona+chocolate+book&qid=1608691233&s=books&sr=1-1 (the rum & honey chocolate cake contained within is pretty amazing)
  19. Develop a taste for Canadian Rye!
  20. I bought the Play For Today set as soon as it was announced, even though I have most of the plays on it in dodgy YouTube rips. I'm hoping a Volume 2 will come out with the new transfer of Double Dare on it if nothing else. Indicator was my discovery of the year - I think I ended up with about five or six titles in the end, including a couple of late-period Dennis Potter films and the new transfer of Britannia Hospital. I'm definitely getting lazier though; I rented Planes, Trains, and Automobiles over the weekend rather than fish the DVD out of the cupboard…
