  1. This week! From Nintendolife! Not much! Mutant Mudds will probably be great (and it's crossbuy and there's a discount if you have the original and there's a discount on the original if you don't - THAT is how you do it, Nintendo you spanners), but I think it'll be too hard for me. Never did the final level on the first game. Oh, and some (repeated but) nice discounts. So maybe not not much. Yay? Wii U eShop Mutant Mudds Super Challenge (Renegade Kid, €9.99/ £8.99 or €8.49/ £7.64 until 16th / 17th April for those with Mutant Mudds on the same NNID or the E3 Nindies@Home demo, or free if you already own the 3DS version on the same NNID) - Following the success of the original and the 'Deluxe' versions, this follow-up in the break-out Renegade Kid series ramps up the challenge with tough level designs and bosses to tackle. Our review will be with you soon, but in the meantime you can learn more about this in our interview with the developer. Paranautical Activity (Digerati, €9.99/ £8.99) - A game with a somewhat unique and controversial history, it features procedurally-generated levels and permadeath - two common Roguelike elements - as well as hordes of enemies and bosses to fight. Upgrades are available to make things a bit easier, and there are plenty of hidden items to seek out. We'll tackle a review soon. Wii U Retail Download Pokkén Tournament (Nintendo, €59.99/ £49.99 LOLOLOLOLOL) - This Bandai Namco-developed fighting game began life as an arcade in Japan, before popular demand was met and this Wii U version was announced. With some unique modes and an upcoming tilt at the competitive gaming scene this Wii U entry could be a vital release this year. Our review will be with you soon, but in the meantime you can check out our extensive preview of the game. Available from 18th March. Wii U eShop Temporary Discounts DuckTales: Remastered (Capcom, €5.99/ £4.79 until 31st March, normally €14.99 / £11.99) Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara (Capcom, €5.24/ £4.19 until 31st March, normally €14.99 / £11.99) Nova-111 (Curve Digital, €5.99/ £4.79 until 31st March, normally €14.99 / £11.99) OlliOlli (Curve Digital, €3.99/ £3.19 until 31st March, normally €9.99 / £7.99) Pumped BMX+ (Curve Digital, €3.99/ £3.19 until 31st March, normally €9.99 / £7.99) Stealth Inc. 2: A Game of Clones (Curve Digital, €3.99/ £3.19 until 31st March, normally €9.99 / £7.99) The Swapper (Curve Digital, €5.99/ £4.79 until 31st March, normally €14.99 / £11.99) The Swindle (Curve Digitial, €5.99/ £4.79 until 31st March, normally €14.99 / £11.99) Ultratron (Curve Digital, €3.99/ £3.19 until 31st March, normally €9.99 / £7.99) Blocky Bot (Mobot Studios, €1.29/ £0.94 until 7th April, normally €2.69 / £1.89) Paper Monsters Recut (Mobot Studios, €3.19/ £2.69 until 7th April, normally €6.49 / £5.49) Island Flight Simulator (Joindots, €7.19/ £5.39 until 31st March, normally €7.99 / £5.99) 3DS eShop Mutant Mudds Super Challenge ((Renegade Kid, €9.99/ £8.99 or €8.49/ £7.64 until 16th April for those with Mutant Mudds on the same NNID, or free if you already own the 3DS version on the same NNID) - The same as its HD brethren, but rather than a shiny resolution it will have 3D visuals perfectly suited to the layered gameplay, and it's worth remembering that with cross-buy you can own both versions from just one purchase. The Legend of Dark Witch 2 (CIRCLE Entertainment, €3.99) - Developed by INSIDE SYSTEM, The Legend of Dark Witch 2 features the same core action platforming gameplay as its predecessor, yet has eight stages to take on. We reckon this is a rather average follow-up in our review. Listed only in Euros, likely meaning a release in Germany, as this previously arrived in most of Europe earlier this year. New Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console F-Zero (Nintendo, €7.99/ £7.19 or €3.99/ £3.59 until 24th March for those who also buy Super Mario Kart on the New 3DS on the same NNID) - A classic of the Super NES era, this title was a visual revelation but also a wonderful exponent of fast futuristic racing. Though its home console successors would use technology to move on to different styles, some argue that this original 16-bit effort is as good as the franchise gets in terms of sheer racing joy and control. We certainly gave it a glowing recommendation in our most recent F-Zero review. Super Mario Kart (Nintendo, €7.99/ £7.19 or €3.99/ £3.59 until 24th March for those who also buy F-Zero on the New 3DS on the same NNID) - Prior to the 1992 arrival of Super Mario Kart (early 1993 in Europe), the kart racing genre had little relevance in the market. As was typical of Nintendo at the time, it leveraged its IP with some terrific gameplay to establish another smash hit with this title; inevitably it would be copied by rivals in the years that followed, while Mario Kart went on to become one of the big N's most valuable franchises. Small history lesson aside, this gaming experience still stands up today. 3DS eShop Temporary Discounts Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy (Capcom, €17.99/ £14.99 until 31st March, normally €29.99 / £24.99) Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies (Capcom, €11.24/ £8.99 until 31st March, normally €24.99 / £19.99) OlliOlli (Curve Digital, €3.99/ £3.19 until 31st March, normally €9.99 / £7.99) Mutant Mudds (Renegade Kid, €4.49/ £4.04 until 31st March, normally €8.99 / £8.09) Rytmik Ultimate (Cinemax, €9.99/ £8.99 until 31st March, normally €17.99 / £15.99) Escape from Zombie City (Tom Create, €2.10/ £1.90 until 31st March, normally €2.99 / £2.69) Ninja Battle Heroes (Tom Create, €1.39/ £1.25 until 31st March, normally €1.99 / £1.79) Real Heroes: Firefighter 3D Download Version (Zordix AB, €4.99/ £4.49 until 24th March, normally €9.99 / £8.99) 3D Game Collection (Joindots, €4.99/ £3.59 until 31st March, normally €6.99 / £4.99) Atlantic Quest (Joindots, €4.99/ £3.59 until 31st March, normally €6.99 / £4.99) Secret Agent Files: Miami (Joindots, €5.99/ £4.49 until 31st March, normally €7.99 / £5.99) 3DS eShop Demo Petit Novel Series - Harvest December (CIRCLE Entertainment, free) 3DS HOME Themes Winter in Centopia (Rainbow, €1.99/ £1.79) Winx Music & Magic: Dancing to the rhythm of magic (Rainbow, €1.99/ £1.79) Miffy & Stars By Mercis (Mercis/CPLG, €0.99/ £0.89) Miffy & Ducks By Mercis (Mercis/CPLG, €0.99/ £0.89) Miffy & Sun By Mercis (Mercis/CPLG, €0.99/ £0.89) Blast 'Em Bunnies: Bundle (Nnooo, €4.99/ £2.99) Blast 'Em Bunnies: Luchador (Nnooo, €1.99/ £1.29 ) Blast 'Em Bunnies: Ninja (Nnooo, €1.99/ £1.29 ) Blast 'Em Bunnies: Western (Nnooo, €1.99/ £1.29 ) Blast 'Em Bunnies: Zombie (Nnooo, €1.99/ £1.29 ) Mighty Switch Force! 2. Once more, from Nintendolife, a week of overpriced VC releases and a pile of other shite. Don't forget the HYRULE WARRIORS LEGENDS demo too from last week that was a Nintendo Direct surprise. Wii U eShop Star Ghost (Squarehead Studios, €8.99/ £7.99) - A procedurally generated shoot-em-up "inspired by the arcade classics", Star Ghost is the work of Rhys Lewis, former A.I Lead at Retro Studios. This utilises the control scheme seen in the rocket barrel stages of Retro's Donkey Kong titles, while Rare alumni David Wise provides the soundtrack. We'll launch into a review soon. Bird Mania Party (Teyon, €1.99/ £1.79) - A follow-on to the budget runner (or 'flyer') games on 3DS, the party aspect for this HD version comes from some multiplayer options. Two players can tackle the game together in co-op or there's a party competitive mode for five players, with extra competitors using Wii Remotes. We'll fly into a review. Steel Rivals (nuGAME, €6.99 / £5.99) - This is a fighting game, which isn't exactly the most common genre on Wii U, at least not yet. At a budget price the screenshots do suggest budget visuals, yet with a Tournament Mode, unlockable outfits and local multiplayer we should at least give it a fighting chance. We'll get some sparring in as preparation for our review. Dreamals (XINESS, €4.99/ £4.49) - Conceptually this sounds like a puzzle game, as you guide three animals restricted to one direction each to safety. We'll get started on a review. Wii U Virtual Console Super Mario Advance (Nintendo, €6.99/ £6.29) - The first in the series of enhanced re-releases that graced the Game Boy Advance, this one includes a spruced up Super Mario Bros. 2 and a version of the original Mario Bros.. As explained in our review it's a solid option for those looking to experience these titles for the first time or with a slightly different feel. Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World (Nintendo, €6.99/ £6.29) - Yet another way to play this 16-bit classic if you're not tempted by the Wii U or New 3DS Virtual Console versions. This GBA iteration does offer some tweaks to the formula, as explained in our review, and is a faithful recreation beyond those changes it does a solid job. Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 (Nintendo, €6.99/ £6.29). As the name states this is the Game Boy Advance port / remaster of the third NES entry in the series. In addition to the '16-bit' look for the 8-bit classic this also includes extra stages that were originally accessed with e-Reader cards; those extras and this one's overall quality earned it a glowing recommendation from us. Wii U Virtual Console Promotion Super Mario Advance Special: You can get the third game for free if you buy two of Super Mario Advance, Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2 or Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 with the same NNID on Wii U until 24/03/2016. Wii U eShop Temporary Discounts Art of Balance (Shin'en Multimedia, €6.70/ £5.36 until 31st March, normally €8.99 / £7.15) Never Alone (E-line Media, €4.89/ £4.29 until 23rd March, normally €14.99 / £12.99) VoxelMaker (Nostatic Software, €3.59/ £2.79 untl 17th March, normally €4.49 / £3.49) 99Moves (EnjoyUp Games, €1.49/ £1.34 until 7th April, normally €2.49 / £2.29) Abyss (EnjoyUp Games, €1.49/ £1.34 until 7th April, normally €1.99 / £1.79) Rock 'n Racing Off Road DX (EnjoyUp Games, €4.95/ £4.45 until 7th April, normally €7.99 / £7.19) Spy Chameleon (EnjoyUp Games, €3.99/ £3.59 until 7th April, normally €4.99 / £4.49) Jones on Fire (Joindots, €2.99/ £2.29 until 24th March, normally €5.99 / £4.59) Wii U eShop Demo Word Puzzles by POWGI (Lightwood Games, free) 3DS eShop Blast 'em Bunnies (Nnooo, €4.99/ £2.99) The objective here is to take down as many bunny enemies as possible and collect coins, which can be used to purchase new items in-game. 50 medals are waiting to be unlocked, and the title's Survival and Slaughter modes feature varying difficulty levels. We'll inform PETA of our plans and then start work on a review. New Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console Super Metroid (Nintendo, €3.99/ £3.59 until 17th March if Link to the Past has been downloaded on New 3DS, normally €7.99/ £7.19) - A true classic of the 16-bit age, this took the ideas and concepts of its predecessors on NES and Game Boy and took them forward in rather bold ways. An experience that has inspired so many modern games, it stands up beautifully in the modern day and should be perfectly suited to portable gaming. We gave this out highest marks in our Super Metroid review. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (Nintendo, €3.99/ £3.59 until 17th March if Super Metroid has been downloaded on New 3DS, normally €7.99/ £7.19) - Another definitive entry in its franchises' history, this is an adventure that's always in the running when fans debate the greatest Zelda games. Full of iconic moments and items, like many of the best SNES games this still holds up beautifully for modern-day gaming. Naturally we loved it in our most recent review. 3DS Retail Download Stella Glow (NIS America, €39.99 / £34.99) - Developed be Imageepoch, your world-saving quest tasks you with earning the trust and help of musical witches, which is as good a job as any. Blending traditional RPG ideas with a musical focus gives this one a bit of a unique twist, and we gave it a hearty recommendation in our Stella Glow review. Available from 11th March. Download code for the theme "Stella Glow: The Witches and Bubu" for Nintendo 3DS included with every purchase. 3DS eShop DLC Blast 'Em Bunnies: Clown Skin Pack (Nnooo, €1.99/ £1.29) Blast 'Em Bunnies: Luchador Skin Pack (Nnooo, €1.99/ £1.29) Blast 'Em Bunnies: Ninja Skin Pack (Nnooo, €1.99/ £1.29) Blast 'Em Bunnies: Urban Army Skin Pack (Nnooo, €1.99/ £1.29) Blast 'Em Bunnies: Zombie Skin Pack (Nnooo, €1.99/ £1.29) Blast 'Em Bunnies: Clown Arena Pack (Nnooo, €2.99/ £1.99) Blast 'Em Bunnies: Luchador Arena Pack (Nnooo, €2.99/ £1.99) Blast 'Em Bunnies: Ninja Arena Pack (Nnooo, €2.99/ £1.99) Blast 'Em Bunnies: Urban Army Arena Pack (Nnooo, €2.99/ £1.99) Blast 'Em Bunnies: Zombie ArenaPack (Nnooo, €2.99/ £1.99) Blast 'Em Bunnies: 2x Multiplier (Nnooo, free) Blast 'Em Bunnies: 5x Multiplier (Nnooo, €4.99/ £2.99) Blast 'Em Bunnies: 10x Multiplier (Nnooo, €9.99/ £6.49) Blast 'Em Bunnies: Carrot Rifle (Nnooo, €2.99/ £1.99) Blast 'Em Bunnies: Turnip Mortar (Nnooo, €4.99/ £2.99) Blast 'Em Bunnies: Watermelon Machine Gun (Nnooo, €4.99/ £2.99) Blast 'Em Bunnies: Runner Bean Laser (Nnooo, €4.99/ £2.99) Blast 'Em Bunnies: Clown Bundle (Nnooo, €3.99/ £2.99) Blast 'Em Bunnies: Luchador Bundle (Nnooo, €3.99/ £2.99) Blast 'Em Bunnies: Ninja Bundle (Nnooo, €3.99/ £2.99) Blast 'Em Bunnies: Urban Army Bundle (Nnooo, €3.99/ £2.99) Blast 'Em Bunnies: Zombie Bundle (Nnooo, €3.99/ £2.99) Blast 'Em Bunnies: All Skin & Arena Bundle (Nnooo, €9.99/ £6.49) Blast 'Em Bunnies: Mega Bundle (Nnooo, €14.99/ £9.99) 3DS eShop Temporary Discounts Rune Factory 4 (XSEED Games, €19.99/ £17.49 until 17th March, normally €29.99 / £24.99) The Delusions of Von Sottendorff and His Square Mind (Delirium Studios, €7.99/ £7.19 until 24th March, normally €12.99 / £11.69) Snow Moto Racing 3D (ZordixAB, €3.99/ £3.59 until 17th March, normally €7.99 / £7.19) The Keep (Cinemax, €4.99/ £4.49 until 24th March, normally €9.99 / £8.99) Fantasy Pirates (EnjoyUp Games, €0.99/ £0.99 until 7th April, normally €4.50 / £4.50) Football Up 3D (EnjoyUp Games, €1.99/ £1.79 until 7th April, normally €2.99 / £2.36) Toys vs. Monsters (EnjoyUp Games, €0.99/ £0.99 until 7th April, normally €3.99 / £3.99) Van Helsing Sniper Zx100 (EnjoyUp Games, €2.99/ £2.99 until 7th April, normally €6.66 / £6.66) Darts Up 3D (EnjoyUp Games, €0.99/ £0.89 until 7th April, normally €2.99 / £2.69) 3D MahJongg (Joindots, €3.99/ £3.59 until 24th March, normally €4.99 / £4.49) Gardenscapes (Joindots, €5.99/ £4.49 until 24th March, normally €7.99 / £5.99) Murder on the Titanic (Joindots, €5.99/ £4.49 until 24th March, normally €7.99 / £5.99) Safari Quest (Joindots, €4.99/ £3.99 until 24th March, normally €6.99 / £4.99) 3DS eShop Demo Word Puzzles by POWGI (Lightwood Games, free)
3. Very little of interest this week. Although worth getting Fairune at that price, nice little game that. From Nintendolife: Wii U eShop Chasing Dead (2020 Venture, €29.99/ £24.99) - There are only a handful of first-person horror experiences on Wii U, with this FPS keen to add itself with distinction to that list. The plot is a complex one involving manipulation of time and space along with evil doppelgangers; we suspect the main goal is to shoot everything in sight, but we'll get blasting on a review and let you know what it's all about. Grumpy Reaper (EnjoyUp Games, €4.99 / £4.49) - An 'arcade-style' game with a quirky concept, you play a reaper that mows the lawn to contain escaping spirits and dead creatures, or something... It could be fun, we'll figure out what it is for a review. U Host (Bear Box Media, €9.99/ £8.99) - An interesting idea for party hosts with a Wii U, as this promises the ability for you to create your own quiz show either using 1000 pre-loaded questions or by creating your own. We'll tidy up our hair, whiten our teeth and present our review to you soon. Wii U Virtual Console Advance Wars: Dual Strike (Nintendo, €9.99/ £8.99) - One of the much-loved entries in this Intelligent Systems series, its arrival may help appease those waiting for the latest 3DS title (Fire Emblem Fates) from the studio or those wondering where the Advance Wars series has gone. This was the third entry in the series and the first on DS, offering plenty of drama and strong strategic gameplay across two screens, in this case putting the GamePad and TV to work. We'll get working on a review. Wii U Retail Download The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD (Nintendo, €49.99 / £39.99) - The 30th Anniversary of this series gets well and truly underway with a HD remaster boasting spruced up visuals, controls and amiibo content. Our review will be with you prior to launch, and in the meantime you can check out our detailed preview. Wii U eShop Temporary Discounts Resident Evil Revelations (Capcom, €9.99/ £7.99 until 17th March, normally €49.99 / £39.99) BLOK DROP U (RCMADIAX, €0.35/ £0.30 until 31st March, normally €1.49 / £1.29) TABLETOP GALLERY (RCMADIAX, €0.70/ £0.65 until 31st March, normally €2.99 / £2.69) 3DS eShop Musicverse: Electronic Keyboard (Abylight, €7.99/ £7.19) - The 3DS eShop has had quite a few music creation tools, with this one keen to promote sharing options through Miiverse, QR codes or simply through saving the AAC file to your SD card. It has a whole load of variations in sounds and settings, along with video tutorials to help you along - we'll search for the right notes and bring you a review. Parascientific Escape Cruise in the Distant Seas (CIRCLE Entertainment, €4.99/ £3.99) - Another intriguing import from CIRCLE Entertainment; you play as a Japanese High School student with two psychic powers who also happens to be trapped aboard a cruise ship. We'll set sail and work on a review. 3DS Retail DLC LEGO Marvel's Avengers Season Pass (WB Games, €9.99/ £7.99) Lego Marvel Avengers: Avengers Adventurer (WB Games, €0.99/ £0.79) Lego Marvel Avengers: The Thunderbolts (WB Games, €1.99/ £1.69) Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight: Treasures Untold (NIS America, €1.99/ £1.79) Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight: The Original Sin (NIS America, free until 11th March, then €2.99/ £2.69) 3DS eShop Temporary Discounts Resident Evil Revelations (Capcom, €8.99/ £7.49 until 17th March, normally €29.99 / £24.99) Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D (Capcom, €3.49/ £3.10 until 17th March, normally €9.99 / £8.99) Adventure Bar Story (CIRCLE Entertainment, €3.99/ £3.19 until 17th March, normally €4.99 / £3.99) Castle Conqueror Defender (CIRCLE Entertainment, €3.49/ £2.79 until 31st March, normally €4.99 / £3.99) Fairune (CIRCLE Entertainment, €1.99/ £1.59 until 17th March, normally €2.99 / £2.39) Parking Star 3D (CIRCLE Entertainment, €1.99/ £1.69 until 31st March, normally €2.99 / £2.49) Quell Reflect (CIRCLE Entertainment, €2.99/ £2.39 until 31st March, normally €3.99 / £3.19) Cubit The Hardcore Platformer Robot (Coderchild, €1.99/ £1.80 until 31st March, normally €2.99 / £2.69) Zombie Incident (Coderchild, €1.49/ £1.35 until 31st March, normally €1.99 / £1.99) 4 Elements (MSL, €2.99/ £2.69 until 24th March, normally €11.99 / £10.79) Azada (MSL, €2.99/ £2.69 until 24th March, normally €11.99 / £10.79) Hidden Expedition Titanic (MSL, €3.99/ £3.59 until 24th March, normally €11.99 / £10.79) Jewel Quest 4 Heritage (MSL, €3.99/ £3.59 until 24th March, normally €11.99 / £10.79) Jewel Quest Mysteries 3 - The Seventh Gate (MSL, €3.99/ £3.59 until 24th March, normally €11.99 / £10.79) Jewel Quest: The Sapphire Dragon (MSL, €4.99/ £4.49 until 24th March, normally €11.99 / £10.79) Luxor (MSL, €3.99/ £3.59 until 24th March, normally €11.99 / £10.79) Mystery Case Files: Dire Grove (MSL, €3.99/ £3.59 until 24th March, normally €11.99 / £10.79) Mystery Case Files: Ravenhearst (MSL, €3.99/ £3.59 until 24th March, normally €11.99 / £10.79) Mystery Case Files: Return to Ravenhearst (MSL, €4.99/ £4.49 until 24th March, normally €11.99 / £10.79) Secret Mysteries in London (MSL, €2.99/ £2.69 until 24th March, normally €11.99 / £10.79) 10-in-1: Arcade Collection (Gamelion, €0.99/ £0.89 until 31st March, normally €1.99 / £1.79) Crazy Kangaroo (Gamelion, €0.99/ £0.89 until 31st March, normally €1.99 / £1.89) Hazumi (Gamelion, €1.29/ £0.99 until 31st March, normally €2.69 / £1.99) League of Heroes (Gamelion, €1.99/ £1.79 until 31st March, normally €3.99 / £3.59) Monster Shooter (Gamelion, €1.99/ £1.60 until 31st March, normally €4.00 / £3.20) Pick-A-Gem (Gamelion, €1.49/ £1.29 until 31st March, normally €2.99 / £2.69) PIX3D (Gamelion, €1.99/ £1.79 until 31st March, normally €3.99 / £3.59) Rage of the Gladiator (Gamelion, €3.49/ £3.09 until 31st March, normally €6.99 / £6.29) SpeedX 3D (Gamelion, €1.49/ £1.29 until 31st March, normally €2.99 / £2.69) SpeedX 3D Hyper Edition (Gamelion, €0.99/ £0.89 until 31st March, normally €1.99 / £1.79)
  4. Very first scan from this week's Jump magazine. Ifrit now looks like Aphex Twin? US trailer: Final Fantasy Explorers is an action role-playing video game featuring single-player and multiplayer modes. The player starts the game on an island featuring various locations, but can access other areas beyond the island on foot. The main goal of the player is to collect crystals scattered across the world. Unlike other narrative-driven entries in the Final Fantasy series, Explorers follows a quest-driven structure similar to Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and Capcom's Monster Hunter series. Quest difficulty can be manually adjusted. Unlike previous entries in the series, chocobos, a recurring galliforme bird in the series, will not be available for riding. Player characters engage in fights with classic Final Fantasy enemies and summons including Ifrit and Bahamut. There are eight character slots available, with monsters defeated in battle assigned to four of them. Characters are assigned character jobs as with early Final Fantasy titles, including the White Mage, Black Mage, Monk, Paladin and Dragoon among others. Aside from these, there are also character jobs exclusive to the title. Players start the game as a Freelancer, able to adapt themselves to various skills before choosing specific jobs. There are over five hundred different pieces of equipment available for creation from material that is either found on the field or won in combat. The characters are given a maximum of eight skills to be used in battle, and can learn skills for certain jobs which can be used with other jobs when mastered. Using abilities costs a certain amount of magic points, but costs less if a character uses a skill linked to a specific job. Skills can also be cancelled in battle. For multiplayer matches, a maximum of four players can use both the Nintendo Network and conventional Wi-Fi to enter a playing session. So basically Final Fantasy jumping on the MH bandwagon...
  5. As always, from Nintendolife: Wii U eShop 6180 the moon (Turtle Cream, €3.99/ £3.59) - A platformer that'll see players take control of the moon on a journey to find the sun. It'll use two screens (TV and GamePad) for the playing field, requiring players to look between the two as the moon bounces high and low. We'll lasso the moon and then work on a review. Inside My Radio (Seaven Studio, €14.99/ £12.99) - This one sounds intriguing on paper, as it's a rhythm music game in which you have the ability to compose music by remixing music into your own arrangements, with electro, disco and dub flavours included. We'll find our rhythm and bring you a review. REPLAY: VHS is Not Dead (Neko Entertainment, €9.99/ £7.49) - The premise sounds intriguing, with this being a platformer in which you manipulate time and move up to five characters through stages all at once; there's an overriding theme of a film director filming and making 'cuts', too. We'll rewind and work on a review. SMART Adventures Mission Math: Sabotage at the Space Station (Engine Software, €2.99/ £2.69) - This certainly sounds like an educational title, as you try to save a space station through solving mathematical puzzles. We'll wrap our heads around the challenge for a review. Defense Dome (HullBreach Studios, €2.99/ £2.29) - A throwback to classic arcade-style shooters of the 1990s. Players target an onslaught of enemy missiles by using the Wii U GamePad as a zoomable, gyroscope-controlled scope, and launch countermeasures to defend the nation. It sounds fine in theory, but we were far from impressed in our Defense Dome review. Wii U Virtual Console Pokémon Ranger (Nintendo, €9.99/ £8.99) - A DS game that launched a sub series, this has you play as a Pokémon Ranger who uses wild Pokémon to help overcome various obstacles and protect the Fiore Region, and Pokémon within it, from the Go-Rock Squad. Temporary capture of these Pokémon is done by circling them on the DS's touch screen, or in this case the GamePad touch screen. We'll round 'em up for a review. Wii U eShop Temporary Discounts Joe's Diner (Joindots, €7.19 / £5.39 until 10th March, normally €7.99 / £5.99) SDK Paint (HullBreach Studios, €3.35 / £2.99 until 3rd March, normally €4.49 / £3.99) Wii U eShop Demo SDK Spriter (HullBreach Studios, free) 3DS eShop Mega Man Legacy Collection (Capcom, €14.99/ £11.99) - Though the included games (Mega Man through to Mega Man 6) have previously arrived on the Virtual Console, the download-only release of this collection in Europe brings a cut price to make it rather tempting. In addition to six classic games there are Challenge stages, along with plenty of digital memorabilia and extras to enjoy. We gave this a hearty recommendation in our Mega Man Legacy Collection review. Available from 23rd February. Sadame (Rising Star Games, €14.99/ £12.99) - Developed by Mebius, this action RPG has four character types with four different gameplay styles, and each levels up as you progress through the game. In typical RPG style it's possible to customize your character with new weapons and upgrades, while replay value comes from the fact that certain events are only accessible by certain characters. It sounds and looks intriguing, and we'll bring you a review soon. Excave III: Tower of Destiny (Bergsala Lightweight, €7.99 / £7.19) - This series offers randomised dungeon crawling of the old-school variety, albeit with some modern features thrown in. This new entry boasts of online leaderboards in addition to special unlocks available if you have save data for its predecessor. We gave Excave II a solid recommendation and will jump into this new entry for a review. Toy Defence (CIRCLE Entertainment, €3.99 / £3.19) - CIRCLE continues its prolific run of releases, in this case with a tower defence title in which you do battle with toys. We'll see whether this is fun play time or a war of attrition in our review. 3DS Virtual Console Pokémon Red (Nintendo, €9.99/ £8.99) - The first generation Pokémon titles finally arrive as legitimate purchases on modern hardware, rather appropriately right in time for the 20th Anniversary of the series. Trading is possible in these fresh releases via local wireless, too. Our review is in the works. Available from 27th February. Pokémon Blue (Nintendo, €9.99/ £8.99) - The other half of the first ever release which features its own unique Pokémon. Available from 27th February. Pokémon Yellow (Nintendo, €9.99/ £8.99) - An enhanced re-release of Red & Blue, this game made a star out of Pikachu by giving it greater personality traits, making this one another intriguing option out of the three gen 1 arrivals. Available from 27th February. 3DS Retail Download Bravely Second: End Layer (Nintendo/Square Enix, €40.49 / £35.99 until 10th March for those with the demo, normally €44.99 / £39.99) - Following the strong commercial performance of the first entry in this series, this sequel aims to take the building blocks of that original RPG and make improvements across the board. A variety of adjustments, lovely visuals and excellent writing help this one shine - you can get the full lowdown in our detailed Bravely Second: End Layer review. Available from 26th February) 3DS DLC Bravely Second: End Layer: SP Drink (Nintendo/Square Enix, €0.50 / £0.50 for the first purchase, then €0.99 / £0.89) Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight: Thunder Queen's Legacy (NIS America, free until 3rd March, then €1.99/ £1.79) Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight: The Eldritch Hound (NIS America, €1.99/ £1.79) Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight:Wanted: Blessed Clover (NIS America, €1.99/ £1.79) 3DS eShop Temporary Discounts Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars (Atlus, €9.99 / £7.40 until 10th March, normally €29.99 / £24.99) Fun! 6. This week! From Nintendolife! Something which has missed the boat and so much tat on sale: Wii U eShop Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty! (Oddworld Inhabitants, 15.99/ £11.99 until 25th February, normally €19.99 / £14.99) - This release has had a protracted route to the Wii U as the developers grappled with porting the title to the hardware, though its arrival does eventually bring a high quality puzzle platforming experience. We'll give this one a taste test for review. Discovery (Noowanda, €6.99/ £5.99) - There are a number of sandbox games like Minecraft on the eShop, now including - funnily enough - Minecraft: Wii U Edition. This entry doesn't have a survival mode, but at a reasonable price does have a detailed and enjoyable creation mode. We gave it a recommendation in our Discovery review. Jones on Fire (Joindots, €5.99/ £4.59 ) - A platformer with blocky, retro-styled visuals, it promises 'frenetic' gameplay that'll have elements of firefighting; it looks quite pleasing on the eye and is also fun, as explained in our Jones on Fire review. Wii U Virtual Console Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team (Nintendo, €6.99/ £6.29) - This first entry in the series launched on Game Boy Advance alongside Blue Rescue team, below, hence the price difference. It kicked off the dungeon crawling gameplay that's now rather familiar, and we'll get cracking on a review. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team (Nintendo, €9.99/ £8.99) - This DS entry was released alongside its 'Red' equivalent on Game Boy Advance, utilising the dual-screen option of the last-gen handheld. As expected you battle your way through randomly generated dungeons, and this one was very similar to the GBA equivalent; we gave it a mild recommendation in our review. Wii U eShop Temporary Discounts Chariot (Frima Studio, €7.49 / £6.74 until 25th February, normally €14.99 / £13.49) Chasing Aurora (Broken Rules, €3.49 / £2.99 until 25th February, normally €6.99 / £5.99) Citizens of Earth (Atlus, €4.99 / £4.00 until 25th February, normally €11.99 / £9.99) Nano Assault NEO (Shin'en Multimedia, €7.49 / £6.70 until 3rd March, normally €9.99 / £8.99) Race the Sun(Flippfly, €4.99 / £3.49 until 25th February, normally €9.99 / £6.99) Shadow Puppeteer (Snow Cannon, €12.99 / £11.99 until 15th February, normally €14.99 / £13.49) Tengami (Nyamnyam, €3.99 / £3.49 /until 25th February, normally €7.99 / £6.99) Teslagrad (Rain Games, €7.49 / £6.99 until 25th February, normally €14.99 / £13.99) Trine 2: Director's Cut (Frozenbyte, €8.49 / £6.99 until 10th March, normally €16.99 / £13.99) Trine Enchanted Edition (Frozenbyte, €6.49 / £5.49 until 10th March, normally €12.99 / £10.99) 99Seconds (EnjoyUp Games, €1.49 / £1.34until 10th March, normally €2.49 / £2.29) Darts Up (EnjoyUp Games, €1.49 / £1.34 until 10th March, normally €2.49 / £2.29) Rock 'N Racing Off Road (EnjoyUp Games, €2.99 / £2.69 until 10th March, normally €5.99 / £5.39) Turtle Tale (Saturnine Games, €1.49 / £1.24 until 25th February, normally €2.99 / £2.49) ZaciSa: Defense of the Crayon Dimensions! (ZeNfA Productions, €1.49/ £1.14 until 25th February, normally €2.99 / £2.29) Angry Bunnies: Colossal Carrot Crusade (Cypronia, €3.99 / £3.49 until 12th March, normally €6.99 / £5.99) Cake Ninja 3: The Legend Continues (Cypronia, €3.69 / £3.33 until 12th March, normally €4.99 / £4.49) Color Zen (Cypronia, €2.24 / £2.24 until 12th March, normally €2.99 / £2.99) Color Zen Kids (Cypronia, €1.79 / £1.79 until 12th March, normally €2.99 / £2.99) My Style Studio: Hair Salon (Cypronia, €3.74 / £3.35 until 12th March, normally €4.99 / £4.49) My Style Studio: Notebook (Cypronia, €2.39/ £2.15 until 12th March, normally €2.99 / £2.69) BLOK DROP X TWISTED FUSION (RCMADIAX, €1.45 / £1.34 until 25th February, normally €2.99 / £2.69) Puzzle Monkeys (Log Games, €1.49 / £1.49 until 3rd March, normally €2.99 / £2.99) 3DS eShop Dementium Remastered (Renegade Kid, €14.99/ £13.49) - This is the second franchise that Renegade Kid has remastered from its DS retail days, in this case potentially filling a gap in horror gaming on the portable's eShop. This entry has new difficulty settings alongside various gameplay and visual improvements; we gave it a solid recommendation in ourDementium Remastered review. Alphadia (Kemco, €9.99/ £8.99) - If this sounds familiar to Alphadia Genesis on Wii U, that's because it seems to be a sequel or spin-off to that release. The Energi War is part of the plot's backdrop, once again, but this traditional RPG has a new cast and plotline, with a promise of accessibility for newcomers and 30+ hours in the adventure. We'll set off on a quest to bring you a review. The Legend of Dark Witch 2 (CIRCLE Entertainment, €6.99/ £5.59) - Developed by INSIDE SYSTEM, The Legend of Dark Witch 2 features the same core action platforming gameplay as its predecessor, yet has eight stages to take on. We reckon this is a rather average follow-up in our review. 3DS Retail Download Project X Zone 2 (Bandai Namco, €39.99/ £29.99) - This sequel to the chaotic original RPG combines characters and franchises from Bandai Namco, SEGA and Capcom, with Monolith Soft and Nintendo also contributing Xenoblade and Fire Emblem characters. We're working on a review but, in the meantime, you can check out our hands on impressions. Download includes "Project X Zone 2 - 3DS HOME Theme" and "Rare Item Pack" DLC. Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight (NIS America, €39.99/ £34.99) - This is a fantastic re-imagining of the DS original, with plenty of free and paid DLC also thrown in. You can get the full lowdown in our detailed Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight review. 3DS eShop Temporary Discounts Shin Megami Tensei IV (Atlus, €9.99 / £8.99 until 25th February, normally €19.99 / £17.99) Super Street Fighter IV 3D (Capcom, €8.00 / £7.20 until 25th February, normally €19.99 / £17.99) Retro City Rampage: DX (Vblank Entertainment, €5.99 / £5.48 until 25th February, normally €8.99 / £7.99) Citizens of Earth (Atlus, €4.99 / £4.00 until 25th February, normally €11.99 / £9.99) Turtle Tale (Saturnine Games, €1.49 / £1.24 until 25th February, normally €2.99 / £2.49) Brunch Panic (CIRCLE Entertainment, €2.99 / £2.69 until 12th March, normally €4.99 / £4.49) Petit Novel Series: Harvest December (CIRCLE Entertainment, €7.99/ £6.39 until 18th February, normally €11.99 / £9.19) Sweet Memories Blackjack (CIRCLE Entertainment, €2.99 / £2.39 until 3rd March, normally €3.99 / £3.19) Real Heroes: Firefighter 3D - Download Edition (Zordix AB, €4.99 / £4.49 until 18th February, normally €9.99 / £8.99) Dress to Play: Cute Witches! 7. Nintendo's first 'non-wearable' is a sleep-tracking device How this will do them any good is beyond me. The next morning it will just say "Stop playing games before you go to bed". No one will ever buy a Wii U any more! Oh wait...
  8. This might be good, so here's a thread... Presenting The Legend of Legacy, FuRyu’s upcoming 3DS RPG from seasoned creators who come from the SaGa and Final Fantasy series. The game is set on the unknown island of Avalon harboring the heritage of the gods. There is no one set route for the story—the player will be able to progress the game freely. Because the map is available from the start of the game, players will want to use it to aid their exploration. Each time you discover a new map, the number of areas you can adventure to increases. This sequence repeating, players will discover the secrets hidden on the island. Seven adventurers will challenge the legend of Avalon. Players will select their main character from among them and create a party of three from those that remain. In “Initium City,” players can swap out and replace party members. First off, Meurs is 27-year-old male elemantalist. Liber is an 18-year-old male treasure hunter. And Owen is a 36-year-old male bounty hunter. Bianca is a female of unknown age with amnesia. Garnet is a 20-year-old female knight. And Eloise is a 24-year-old female alchemist. Finally, Filmia is a frog prince of the Kael Tribe of unknown age. According to game designer Kyoji Koizumi, who also comes from the SaGa series, he wanted to make a game without quests, where players can find out what to do on their own. But they knew if there wasn’t any guidance, some players would feel stuck. So The Legend of Legacy provides one big objective, then leaves it up to the player to figure out how to do that, uncovering things along the way. In the game world, magic can only be used on Avalon, where the game is set. According to Koizumi, the magic in this game is different than magic in other RPGs for that reason. There won’t be any human-versus-human battles, but there are beings that are different from monsters, Koizumi said. And as you get into the latter half of the game, you’ll fight them more often. The island of Avalon is dotted with ruins. Koiziumi wants players to enjoy figuring out the mystery of who used to live there, as well. The Legend of Legacy is due out for 3DS in Japan on January 22, 2015. When was the last time we had a good JRPG featuring a frog protagonist eh? And it looks beautiful to boot: Debut trailer: Seems like they took more than one leaf out of Bravely Default's book...
  9. This week! Loads of stuff yet nothing at the same time! From Nintendolife!: Wii U eShop Space Hulk (Hoplite Research, €29.95/ £24.99) - This title is based on the Games Workshop board game of the same name, and involves clearing out derelict space ships of hostile alien forces through turn-based strategy. It's a PC port, and we're still working on a review. Joe's Diner (Joindots, €7.99/ £5.99) - A first-person game with a slightly odd premise; you work 30 night shifts at a remote diner, while your activities somehow influence two feuding dead chieftains that you must help put to rest. Based on screenshots it looks like you complete busy work to maintain the diner, but we'll see how this stacks up in a review. Wii U Virtual Console Super Mario Galaxy (Nintendo, €19.99/ £17.99) - Quite rightly regarded as one of the Wii's finest games and a high point in the Super Mario franchise, this wowed audiences in the last generation with its clever stage design, use of gravity and abundance of charm. It's a stone cold classic, and we said as much back in our 2007 Super Mario Galaxy review. Wii U DLC All of the following packs are coming to Super Smash Bros. on Wii U and 3DS on 4th February) Bayonetta & Umbra Clock Tower Set (Nintendo, €5.99/ £5.39 for one platform, €6.99/ £6.29 for both) - Includes Fighter (Bayonetta), Umbra Clock Tower stage, new stage music and new trophies [Fighter] Corrin (Nintendo, €4.99/ £4.49 for one platform, €5.99/ £5.39 for both) - Includes Fighter (Corrin), new stage music and new trophies [Mii Fighter Costume] Bionic Set (Nintendo, €0.79/ £0.69 for one platform, €1.19/ £1.09 for both) - Includes Bionic Helmet and Bionic Armour, for Mii Brawlers only. Wii U eShop Temporary Discounts Typoman (Headup Games, €11.89/ £8.49 until 18th February, normally €13.99 / £9.99) Space Lift Danger Panic! (Spingloaded, €1.65/ £1.29 until 12th February, normally €2.49 / £1.99,OR €0.80/ £0.65 until 12th February for those that have downloadedHeart Beaten on the same ID. Wii U eShop Permanent Discounts Disney Planes: Fire & Rescue (Little Orbit, €9.99/ £6.99, was €39.99/ £34.99) How to Train Your Dragon 2 (Little Orbit, €9.99/ £6.99, was €39.99/ £29.99) The Penguins of Madagascar (Little Orbit, €9.99/ £6.99, was €39.99/ £29.99) Wii U eShop Demos Typoman (Headup Games, free) ZaciSa: Defence of the Crayon Dimensions! (ZeNfA Productions, free) 3DS eShop Slice It! (Aksys Games, €5.48/ £3.98) - Developed by Arc System Works and COM2US, this is a puzzle game that'll suit those with strong visualisation skills. You use the stylus to slice up shapes in order to recreate smaller iterations, which provides plenty of challenge across the promised 'hundreds' of stages. We gave this a recommendation in our Slice It! review. Glory of Generals: The Pacific (CIRCLE Entertainment, €6.99/ £5.59) - CIRCLE returns with another release on the 3DS eShop, this time providing a follow-up in its wartime (and rather complex) strategy series. This aims to offer plenty of value for money, with over 64 campaigns and 100 generals aiming to school you in battle; unfortunately we think this is a poor effort overall. 3DS Retail Download The Legend of Legacy (Atlus, €39.99/ £34.99) - If you want a game name that emphasizes the whole point of an RPG storyline, then Legend of Legacy seems like a good call. Developed by FuRyu, with hugely respected industry figures involved such as Tomomi Kobayashi (SaGa series), composer Masashi Hamauzu (SaGa, Final Fantasy XIII), and writer Masato Kato (Chrono Trigger), this title adopts formations in battles and is a campaign that can be tackled through seven perspectives from the core cast. We rated it very highly in our review. 3DS eShop Temporary Discounts Heart Beaten (Spingloaded, €2.33/ £2.00 until 12th February, normally €3.49 / £2.99, OR €1.09/ £1.00 until 12th February for those that have downloaded Space Lift Danger Panic! on the same ID. 10. This week, from Nintendolife: Wii U eShop Shadow Puppeteer (Sarepta Studio, €14.99/ £13.49) - This is a platform puzzler designed for intricate solo play or co-op, as both a boy (in a 3D environment) and his shadow (limited to left / right movement) both navigate tricky puzzle areas. With a charming aesthetic and soundtrack this certainly aims to immerse players, and we'll have an interview and review with you before its release. Level 22 (Moving Player, €6.99 / £6.29) - This sounds like a quirky title, as you play a worker that's a bit rough after a night out but needs to get to his work desk on time to avoid getting the sack. You manoeuvre 22 floors of a building, while avoiding being seen, all the while experiencing a "zany little universe". We'll try to take it easy tonight before getting started on a review. Word Puzzles by POWGI (Lightwood Games, €8.99/ £7.99) - The latest word game arrival from this studio, this time around there are six core pen-and-paper style games with hundreds of puzzles between them, all designed to give your brain a workout. This also support all amiibo figures and cards, as scanning them will create puzzles using the name data stored within; we'll get working on a review. PictoParty (Retroid Interactive, €7.99 / £7.00) - This provides a virtual equivalent to Pictionary, naturally utilising the Wii U GamePad for drawing while team members look at the TV to guess the image. Though simple and streamlined this is fun with a crowd, as we explain in our PictoParty review. Sense by Play.me (d-mobilelab, free) - This is a subscription based "interactive web radio by Play.me which offers you the right music for the emotions you are living, promising a range of genres in its library. Wii U Virtual Console Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (Square Enix, €6.99/ £6.29) - A relatively early spin-off in the Final Fantasy franchise for the Game Boy Advance, for which Square and Nintendo co-operation. As the title suggests this is a tactical RPG, and we'll figure out a battle plan for a review. Wii U Retail Download LEGO Marvel's Avengers (Warner Bros., €49.99 / £39.99) - This one's going to cover six films in total - Avengers (which was called Avengers Assemble in the UK to avoid confusion with the cult TV show of the same name), Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: The First Avenger,Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Thor: The Dark World and Iron Man 3. The Wii U version will serve up HD visuals and co-op, and we'll assemble for a review. Available from 29th January. Wii U DLC LEGO Marvel's Avengers Season Pass (Warner Bros., €9.99 / £7.99) - It's a season pass! On Wii U! Skylanders SuperChargers - Boost Kit (Activision, €1.99/ £1.59) Skylanders SuperChargers - Super Kit (Activision, €4.99/ £3.99) Skylanders SuperChargers - Mega Kit (Activision, €9.99/ £7.99) Wii U eShop Temporary Discounts Adventure Time: Finn and Jake Investigations (Little Orbit, €19.99/ £15.99 until 27th February, normally €29.99 / £24.99) Kung Fu Panda: Showdown of Legendary Legends (Little Orbit, €19.99/ £15.99 until 27th February, normally €29.99 / £24.99) Affordable Space Adventures (KnapNok Games, €13.20/ £11.80 until 4th February, normally €18.99 / £16.99) Cube Life: Island Survival (Cypronia, €7.99/ £6.39 until 28th February, normally €9.99 / £7.99) Wii U eShop Permanent Discount TABLETOP GALLERY (RCMADIAX, €2.99/ £2.69, was €4.49 / £4.09) Wii U Demo Cube Life: Island Survival (Cypronia, free) 3DS eShop Family Fishing (Aksys Games, €5.48 / £3.98) - This includes various locations and opportunities to upgrade gear and generally to "fish like a boss!". Naturally larger fish pose a challenge, though rather disturbingly you can "throw smoke bombs to disrupt your opponents and seize the advantage". We had fun with this one in our Family Fishing review. Runny Egg (Tom Create, €1.99 / £1.79) - This is about an egg that runs, which explains why it's called Runny Egg. A fast-paced runner / platformer, you dash through stages as fast as possible while levelling up your egg, grabbing chicks for a power-up and even tackling the occasional boss. It's been perfectly poached, too, as we gave this a recommendation in our Runny Egg review. Word Puzzles by POWGI (Lightwood Games, €8.99/ £7.99) - We expect this to be effectively identical to the Wii U version, and will also utilise amiibo on New Nintendo 3DS models or using the NFC portal on older systems. We'll think of the right words for a review. Epic Word Search Collection (Lightwood Games, €7.99) - Previously released in 2015, this entry is likely to be an update for a release in Germany; we gave it a recommendation in our review. 3DS Retail Downloads Final Fantasy Explorers (Square Enix, €39.99 / £29.99) - This spin-off arrival on the 3DS includes a number of legends from the franchises' history, as you tackle the adventure alone or in co-op with others. The focus is very much on basic exploration and combat, it seems, with some aspects of this one trying to tap into the Monster Hunter craze. We'll have a review with you very soon. LEGO Marvel's Avengers (Warner Bros., €39.99 / £29.99) - The portable version of this latest LEGO title; a review is on the way. Available from 29th January. 3DS eShop Temporary Discounts Adventure Time: Finn and Jake Investigations(Little Orbit, €19.99/ £15.99 until 27th February, normally €29.99 / £24.99) Kung Fu Panda: Showdown of Legendary Legends (Little Orbit, €19.99/ £15.99 until 27th February, normally €29.99 / £24.99) Barbie and her Sisters Puppy Rescue (Little Orbit, €19.99/ £15.99 until 27th February, normally €29.99 / £24.99) Monster High: New Ghoul in School (Little Orbit, €19.99/ £15.99 until 27th February, normally €29.99 / £24.99) Art of Balance TOUCH! 11. Getting released on both eShop and cart in the summer: http://www.vg247.com/2013/04/04/etrian-odyssey-4-headed-to-europe/ Anyone excited about this? I tried to get into the first one but didn't really get anywhere (they're something of a Roguelike, with insta-death etc).
  12. Link Good to see Naka back, hopefully it will be more like Sonic Colors than the other shit sonic games that Sega has been releasing EDIT: Now a Wii U and 3DS game, after a long development ...
  13. If you're a fan of N64 extreme sports games, you might think this is a good week. Otherwise... meh. From Nintendolife! Wii U Virtual Console 1080° Snowboarding (Nintendo, €9.99) - Perfect for the season, unless you're in the UK where it's just raining constantly, as you can blast down the virtual slopes in this much-loved skiing title. You can take on races, the half-pipe or dramatic trick jumps, and this will certainly hold some fond memories for some. We enjoyed this in our Wii Virtual Console 1080° Snowboarding review and will take another look. This is the US version of the game. Wave Race 64 (Nintendo, €9.99) - Another extreme sports racing title from the N64 era, this time with a summery vibe as you ride the waves and try to secure top spot. At the time its wave physics were a sight to behold, and we gave it plenty of praise in our Wii Virtual Console Wave Race 64 review; we'll jump in for a fresh look. This is the US version of the game. Wii U Virtual Console Promotion Get 50% off either 1080° Snowboarding or Wave Race 64 when you buy the other on the same Wii U system, a reduction to €4.99 - it'll therefore cost €14.98 to buy both. Wii U eShop Temporary Discounts 99Moves (EnjoyUp Games, €1.49 until 28th January, normally €2.49) Abyss (EnjoyUp Games, €1.49 until 28th January, normally €1.99) 3DS Retail Download Story of Seasons (Nintendo, €39.99) - Actually a Harvest Moon release in Japan, this underwent a rebrand due to regional rights issues in the West. It maintains various conventional aspects of that series, such as farming and romance, while adding some pleasing new touches and plenty of charm. We gave this a recommendation in our Story of Seasons review. 3DS eShop Temporary Discounts Nano Assault EX (Shin'en Multimedia, €7.49 until until 21st January, normally €9.99) Castle Conqueror Defender(CIRCLE Entertainment, €3.49 until 21st January, normally €4.99) Castle Conqueror EX (CIRCLE Entertainment, €2.99 until 21st January, normally €3.99) Demon King Box (CIRCLE Entertainment, €2.99 until 21st January, normally €3.99) European Conqueror 3D (CIRCLE Entertainment, €2.99 until 21st January, normally €3.99) Tappingo (CIRCLE Entertainment, €1.99 until 21st January, normally €2.99) Football Up 3D (EnjoyUp Games, €1.99 until 28th January, normally €2.99) Real Heroes Firefighter 3D (Zordix AB, €4.99 until 14th January, normally €9.99)
  14. Wii U eShop Minecraft: Wii U Edition (Microsoft Studios, €29.99 / £19.99) - It's the pop culture phenomenon that's been a long time coming, making its Wii U début via the eShop. This blocky world-building sandbox has inspired some efforts from smaller publishers, yet arrives with a whole lot of features, six bundled DLC packs and more available to buy separately. Despite the lack of inventory management on the GamePad it will include USB keyboard and voice chat support, and we'll see how it all stacks up in our review. Ascent of Kings (Nostatic Software, €1.99 / £1.49) - This one is a platforming adventure in which a young brother sets off on an adventure to become a King; with exploration and discovery there are ability boosts to be found, too. Despite its charms we nevertheless had to consider its brevity in our Ascent of Kings review. Island Flight Simulator (Joindots, €7.99 / £5.99) - A genre not exactly blessed with options on the Wii U, this apparent flight-sim gives you 12 islands to travel between and a range of missions that include 'illegal' deliveries for 'shifty clients'. Crikey. We'll take off and bring you a review soon. Job the Leprechaun (Herrero Games, €2.99 / £2.69) - This peculiarly-named game is a retro platformer with single-screen stages in which you collect clovers, find the door and dodge enemies. It's very basic and rather average, in our view. Wii U Virtual Console Mario Tennis (Nintendo, €9.99 / £8.99) - Just like Nintendo's other spin-off sports or racing titles of the N64 era this took a fun and slightly wacky approach, with local multiplayer at its heart. Considered widely as the 'first' Mario Tennis game (despite a couple of debatable predecessors) this is also loved by many for its simple charm; that's certainly the case in our Mario Tennis review. New Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo, €9.99 / £8.99) - It's easy to forget in this era of plentiful 2D Mario experiences, but this was the first 'new' 2D Mario game since the Super NES era when it arrived on the DS; that explains the 'New' branding. Its visual style and mini-games were eye-catching upon release, and this spawned a fresh wave of 2D Mario platformers. We were full of praise for this in our New Super Mario Bros. review. Onimusha Tactics (Capcom, €6.99 / £6.29) - Based on the popular Onimusha series of action titles, this Game Boy Advance release takes place on a grid-based battlefield where the player has to defeat opposing forces in a turn-based conflict. It's a lot like Final Fantasy Tactics, as the name suggests. Although it doesn't follow the plot of its home console predecessors, several familiar faces make an appearance during the adventure. We gave this a recommendation in ourOnimusha Tactics review. Minecraft: Wii U Edition DLC Festive Skin Pack - €1.99 / £1.59 The Simpsons Skin Pack - €2.99 / £2.39 Doctor Who Skins Volume 1 - €2.99 / £2.39 Doctor Who Skins Volume 2 - €2.99 / £2.39 Star Wars Classic Skin Pack - €2.99 / £2.39 Star Wars Rebels Skin Pack - €2.99 / £2.39 Star Wars Prequel Skin Pack - €2.99 / £2.39 Mass Effect Mash-up Pack - €3.99 / £3.19 Skyrim Mash-up Pack - €3.99 / £3.19 Plastic Texture Pack - €0.99 / £0.79 Candy Texture Pack - €0.99 / £0.79 Cartoon Texture Pack - €0.99 / £0.79 Steampunk Texture Pack - €0.99 / £0.79 Pattern Texture Pack - €0.99 / £0.79 Greek Mythology Mash-up Pack - €3.99 / £3.19 Halloween 2015 Mash-up Pack - €3.99 / £3.19 Wii U eShop Temporary Discounts Another World - 20th Anniversary Edition (Digital Lounge, €3.99 / £3.59 until 24th December, normally € 7.99 / £7.19) Armillo (Fuzzy Wuzzy Games, €3.69/ £2.99 until 1st January, normally €6.00 / £5.50) Art of Balance (Shin'en Multimedia, €6.70/ £5.35 until 7th January, normally €8.99 / £7.15) DuckTales: Remastered (Capcom, €5.99 / £4.79 until 31st December, normally €14.99 / £11.99) Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara (Capcom, €5.24 / £4.19 until 31st December, normally €14.99 / £11.99) Extreme Exorcism (Ripstone, €9.99 / £7.99 until 31st December, normally €12.99 / £9.99) Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut (Curve Digital, €1.99 / £1.99 until 31st December, normally €11.99 / £9.99) Nova-111 (Curve Digital, €3.99 / £3.50 until 31st December, normally €14.99 / £11.99) OlliOlli (Curve Digital, €3.39 / £2.49 until 31st December, normally €9.99 / £7.99) Stealth Inc 2: A Game of Clones (Curve Digital, €1.99 / £1.59 until 31st December, normally €9.99 / £7.99) Pumped BMX+ (Curve Digital, €4.99 / £3.99 until 31st December, normally €9.99 / £7.99) The Swapper (Curve Digital, €2.99 / £1.99 until 31st December, normally €14.99 / £11.99) The Swindle (Curve Digital, €2.99 / £1.99 until 31st December, normally €14.99 / £11.99) - price is a error, boo! You can learn about those enhancements and why we love this release so much in ourSteel Empire review. Chronus Arc (Kemco, €9.99 / £8.99) - A retro-styled RPG developed by Hit-Point Co., your team need to find mythical fragments for a once-a-decade event, which sounds like a pretty normal weekend. This looks promising in terms of its pixel-based visuals and a handy map on the touchscreen, and with class changes being joined by dungeon areas it is, on paper, a welcome dose of RPG gaming on the eShop. Unfortunately we think it falls short of its potential, as suggested in our Chronus Arc review. The Delusions of Von Sottendorff and his Square Mind (Delirium Studios, €12.99 / £11.69) - Trapped within a mental prison of his own making, the titular Baron Von Sottendorff must negotiate 8 different worlds, 40 challenging levels and avoid 18 different types of enemies to regain his sanity. This is a puzzle game in which you manipulate rooms using the touch screen, and we'll put our sanity to the test to bring you a review. 3DS eShop Temporary Discounts Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy (Capcom, €19.49 / £16.24 until 31st December, normally €29.99 / £24.99) Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies (Capcom, €11.24 / £8.99 until 31st December, normally €24.99 / £19.99) Another World - 20th Anniversary Edition (Digital Lounge, €3.99 / £3.59 until 24th December, normally € 7.99 / £7.19) Super Street Fighter IV 3D (Capcom, €7.99 / £7.19 until 31st December, normally €19.99 / £17.99) Shantae and the Pirate's Curse (WayForward, €8.49 / £7.99 until 6th January, normally €16.99 / £15.99) Code of Princess (Agatsuma, €14.95 / £12.49 until 31st December, normally €29.99 / £24.99) Sayonara UmiharaKawase (Agatsuma, €12.40 / £9.99 until 31st December, normally €24.99 / £19.99) Mighty Switch Force! 15. Sorry deKay, I couldn't wait. From http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2015/12/nintendo_download_24th_december_europe Note the pooey brown colour for SM64DS - it's still a great game, but it's not been properly optimised from what I hear so there's no analogue movement on the stick, only the screen. Wii U eShop Kung Fu FIGHT! (Nostatic Games, €1.99 / £1.49) - The second release from this studio to make its way to Wii U, this has a similar visual style to The Quiet Collection but is a twitch-reaction runner; there are multiple difficulty modes available, too. We gave this a recommendation in our Kung Fu FIGHT! review. Wii U Virtual Console Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (Nintendo, €7.99 / £5.49) - This Squaresoft-developed title was the start of an era; RPG-style experiences featuring Mario are a regular occurrence nowadays, and they have this SNES release to thank. It's a thoroughly charming and memorable experience that we wrote about recently, and we'll bring you a review soon. Super Mario 64 DS (Nintendo, €9.99 / £8.99) - The original is often lauded as one of the greatest and most influential games of all time, and this re-make on DS was certainly a showcase for the portable's capabilities. This iteration introduced new content that included playable Luigi, Yoshi and Wario characters, though we felt it didn't live up to its source material in our original review. Wii U eShop Temporary Discount Darksiders II (Nordic Games, €12.49 / £9.99 /until 7th January, normally €49.99 / £39.99) Legend of Kay Anniversary (Nordic Games, €7.49 / £4.99 until 7th January, normally €29.99 / £19.99) The Swindle (Curve Digital, €6.99 / £5.49 until 7th January, normally €14.99 / £11.99) Electronic Super Joy (Broken Rules, €6.99 / £5.99 until 7th January, normally €7.99 / £6.99) Human Resource Machine (Tomorrow Corporation, €7.99 / £6.99 until 31st December, normally €9.99 / £8.99) Roving Rogue (Padaone Games, €3.99 / £3.59 until 7th January, normally €7.99 / £7.19) Spin the Bottle: Bumpie's Party (KnapNok Games, €3.99 / £3.99 until 7th January, normally €8.99 / £8.00) Tengami (Nyamyam, €3.99 / £3.49 until 10th January, normally €7.99 / £6.99) TNT Racers - Nitro Machines Edition (Keen Games, €4.99 / £4.49 until 14th January, normally €7.99 / £6.99) Zombie Defense (Teyon, €3.99 / £3.59 until 7th January, normally €7.99 / £7.19) 3DS eShop Japanese Rail Sim 3D Journey to Kyoto (Sonic Powered Co., €1.00 / £1.00 until 7th January, then €14.99 / £12.99) - The latest entry in this series in which you gently guide your train around the rails, this may have some appeal to Nintendo fans as it takes place on the Eizan Electric Railway around the company's home city. Despite that potential charm, however, we were critical of this one in our review. Ocean Runner (Teyon, €2.99 / £2.69) - With fish breeds that conveniently echo quite a few of those found in Finding Nemo, this is a runner (swimmer?) with a top down perspective and online leaderboards to boot. We'll take a deep breath and dive in for a review. 3DS eShop Temporary Discounts Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate (Capcom, €22.49 / £19.99 until 7th January, normally €44.99 / £39.99) Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars (Atlus, €9.99 / £7.40 until 7th January, normally €29.99 / £24.99) Lord of Magna: Maiden Heaven (Marvelous, €20.99 / £17.49 until 6th January, normally €29.99 / £24.99) Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked (Ghostlight, €11.99 / £9.99 until 7th January, normally €34.99 / £29.99) Shingeki no Kyojin: Humanity in Chains (Atlus, €19.99 / £14.04 until 31st December, normally €29.99 / £34.99) BIT.TRIP SAGA (Choice Provisions, €4.99 / £4.49 until 7th January, normally €19.99 / £17.99) Virtue's Last Reward (Rising Star Games, €12.49 / £9.99 until 7th January, normally €24.99 / £19.99) Girls' Fashion Shoot (Rising Star Games, €4.99/ £4.99 until 7th January, normally €19.99 / £19.99) Hakuoki: Memories of the Shinsengumi (Rising Star Games, €11.99 / £11.99 until 7th January, normally €29.99 / £29.99) Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns (Rising Star Games, €9.99 / £8.99 until 7th January, normally €19.99 / £17.99) Hometown Story (Rising Star Games, €7.49 / £7.49 until 7th January, normally €29.99 / £29.99) Shifting World (Rising Star Games, €4.99 / £4.49 until 7th January, normally €19.99 / £17.99) Jewel Master Cradle Of Egypt 2 3D (Rising Star Games, €4.99 / £4.49 until 7th January, normally €19.99 / £17.99) Jewel Master Cradle Of Rome 2 (Rising Star Games, €4.99 / £4.49 until 7th January, normally €19.99 / £17.99) Super Black Bass 3D (Rising Star Games, €4.99 / £4.49 until 7th January, normally €19.99/ £17.99) 2 Fast 4 Gnomz (QubicGames, €2.99 / £2.69 until 21st January, normally €4.99 / £4.49) AiRace Speed (QubicGames, €2.39 / £2.10 until 21st January, normally €3.49 / £3.10) AiRace Xeno (QubicGames, €1.69 / £1.59 until 21st January, normally €2.49 / £2.29) Banana Bliss: Jungle Puzzles (Teyon, €1.99 / £1.79 until 7th January, normally €3.99 / £3.59) Chat-A-Lot (Teyon, €3.99 / £3.59 until 7th January, normally €7.99 / £7.19) Excave (Teyon, €2.49 / £2.24 until 7th January, normally €4.99 / £4.49) Crazy Chicken Pirates 3D (Teyon, €0.99 / £0.89 until 7th January, normally €1.99 / £1.79) Governor of Poker (Teyon, €2.49 / £2.24 until 7th January, normally €4.99 / £4.49) Groove Heaven (Teyon, €1.99 / £1.79 until 7th January, normally €3.99 / £3.59) Heavy Fire: Black Arms 3D (Teyon, €2.49 / £2.24 until 7th January, normally €4.99 / £4.49) Heavy Fire: Special Operations 3D (Teyon, €2.49 / £2.24 until 7th January, normally €4.99 / £4.49) Iron Combat: War in the Air (Teyon, €3.49 / £3.14 until 7th January, normally €6.99 / £6.29) Robot Rescue 3D (Teyon, €1.49 / £1.39 until 7th January, normally €2.99 / £2.69) Skater Cat (Teyon, €2.49 / £2.24 until 7th January, normally €4.99 / £4.49) Coaster Creator 3D (Big John Games, €4.70 / £3.90 until 7th January, normally €7.25 / £6.00) Cube Creator 3D (Big John Games, €5.00/ £3.50 until 7th January, normally €7.50 / £5.25) Cube Tactics (Big John Games, €2.49 / £2.24 until 7th January, normally €4.99 / £4.49) Crash City Mayhem (Ghostlight, €7.99 / £6.99 until 7th January, normally €19.99 / £17.99) Crazy Construction (Joindots, €5.59 / £3.99 until 7th January, normally €6.99 / £4.99) Funfair Party Games (Joindots, €4.99 / £3.69 until 7th January, normally €6.99 / £4.99) Jewel Match 3 (Joindots, €4.99 / £3.99 until 7th January, normally €6.99 / £4.99) Safari Quest (Joindots, €4.99 / £3.99 until 7th January, normally €6.99 / £4.99) Secret Agent Files: Miami (Joindots, €5.99 / £4.49 until 7th January, normally €7.99 / £5.99) Cubit the Hardcore Platformer Robot (Coderchild, €1.99 / £1.80 until 7th January, €2.99 / £2.69) Zombie Incident (Coderchild, €1.49 / £1.35 until 7th January, normally €1.99 / £1.99) Fairune (CIRCLE Entertainment, €1.99 / £1.59until 14th January, normally €2.99 / £2.39) Glory of Generals (CIRCLE Entertainment, €3.99 / £3.19 until 14th January, normally €9.99 / £7.99) Parking Star 3D (CIRCLE Entertainment, €1.99 / £1.69 until 14th January, normally €2.99 / £2.49) Quell Reflect (CIRCLE Entertainment, €2.79 / £2.20 until 14th January, normally €3.99 / £3.19) Samurai Defender (CIRCLE Entertainment, €1.99 / £1.59 until 14th January, normally €2.99 / £2.39) Swords & Soldiers 3D (CIRCLE Entertainment, €3.99 / £3.29 until 14th January, normally €6.99 / £5.59) KORG DSN-12 (Detune, €14.99 / £12.49 until 7th January, normally €29.99 / £24.99) KORG M01D (Detune, €12.49 / £9.99 until 7th January, normally €24.99 / £19.99) Snow Moto Racing 3D (Zordix AB, €3.99 / £3.59 until 31st December, normally €7.99 / £7.19) 3DS HOME Themes Pokémon: Poké Crests & Kokeshi Dolls (Nintendo, €1.99 / £1.79) Pokémon: Peeking Pokémon Friends (Nintendo, €1.99 / £1.79)
  16. This week! From Nintendolife! Wii U eShop FAST Racing NEO (Shin'en Multimedia, €14.99 / £10.99) - Futuristic sci-fi racing games have become a rare entity on Nintendo hardware, and so the hype around this racer is certainly understandable. A follow-up to FAST - Racing League on WiiWare, this new entry makes various changes to the gameplay and has lovely 60fps performance with flashy visuals. We've been impressed in hands on time to date and our full review will be with you prior to release this week. Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures (ScrewAttack Games, €9.99 / £8.99) - It's taken a while, but this rather difficult AVGN action platformer has now arrived on the Wii U in Europe. It's certainly challenging and has plenty of references and nods to retro gaming and the YouTube series; we gave this a recommendation in our Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures Wii U review. VoxelMaker (Nostatic Software, €4.49 / £3.49) - A 3D art studio that's centred around creating models and environments with 3D blocks, which can then be rendered with realistic lighting and shadows. This offers a good toolset and earned a recommendation in our VoxelMaker review, even if the end results are only good for display and little more. Dinox (Engine Software, €4.99 / £4.49) - This is a 'prehistory' trivia game that'll support solo play or up to four players at once, promising over 900 questions overall. We'll dust off some fossils and bring you a review. Wii U Virtual Console Game & Watch Gallery Advance (Nintendo, €6.99 / £6.29) - A neat entry as this series of collections moved off the Game Boy Colour, this title offers a range of 'Classic' games (like Mario's Cement Factory, Donkey Kong Jr., Donkey Kong 3, Fire, Boxing, and Rain Shower) and also modern remasters utilising the GBA's capabilities. We'll watch this one closely and bring you a review. Polarium Advance (Nintendo, €6.99 / £6.29) - The eShop is well stocked with puzzle games, though Nintendo is keen to boost the Wii U library with this somewhat unique Game Boy Advance title; your goal is to flip tiles in one move so that they're all matching colours. It should make more sense when you play it, and we'll get into it for a review. Wii U eShop Temporary Discounts Citizens of Earth (Atlus, €4.99 / £4.00 until 24th December, normally €11.99 / £9.99) Life of Pixel (Super Icon, €4.99/ £4.49 until 9th January, normally €9.99 / £8.99) Rock 'N Racing Off Road DX (EnjoyUp Games, €2.99/ £2.69 until 7th January, then €5.99 / £5.39) ZaciSa: Defense of the Crayon Dimensions! (ZeNfA Productions, €0.99 / £0.79 until 7th January, normally €2.99 / £2.29) 3DS eShop SteamWorld Heist (Image & Form, €16.99 / £11.99 until 31st December, then 19.99 / £14.99) - The follow-up to breakthrough title SteamWorld Dig, this adopts a turn-based 2D strategy approach for the highly stylised steambot IP. A lengthy campaign is promised along with plenty of weapons and hats, because robots wearing hats are surely irresistible; our review will be with you prior to release. Free and exclusive 3DS HOME Theme included with all purchases before 31st December. Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures (ScrewAttack Games, €9.99 / £8.99) - This version throws stereoscopic 3D into the mix, and if you like a challenge it may be well worth consideration. We enjoyed this portable iteration in out Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures 3DS review. Rytmik Ultimate (Cinemax, €17.99 / £15.99, or €9.99 / £8.99 for those with The Keep on the same Nintendo Network ID) - This music creation tool will include the sound samples from its predecessors on DSiWare along with new content, while there'll also be options to share, listen to and collaborate on music online. We'll create some tunes and bring you a review. Petit Novel Series - Harvest December (CIRCLE Entertainment, €11.99 / £9.19) - The eShop platforms have hosted a few storybook series, and this is the latest to stake its claim; this one has 13 short stories following a teenager called Masaki Konno, one for each month and culminating with Harvest December. The Magic Hammer (Wobbly Tooth, €4.99 / £4.49) - This is ambitious in nature, promising an open-world RPG with customisation and exploration featured. Throw in local and online co-op alongside a 'Creative Mode' and there's plenty to offer on paper, though in the end we thought the execution and final experience was average in our review. 3DS Retail Download Terraria (505 Games, €19.99 / £16.99) - This 2D platformer / resource / sandbox game has become a huge success since it took off as an Indie title on PC, picking up 505 Games as a publisher and arriving on a host of platforms. The 3DS version will deliver some welcome portability, of course, with the touch screen put to good use. You can check out our hands on impressions to see more, and we'll dig into a review. 3DS eShop Temporary Discounts Shin Megami Tensei IV (Atlus, €9.99 / £7.40 until 24th December, normally €19.99 / £17.99) Citizens of Earth (Atlus, €4.99 / £4.00 until 24th December, normally €11.99 / £9.99) Adventure Bar Story (CIRCLE Entertainment, €3.99 / £3.19 until 31st December, normally €4.99 / £3.99) Brunch Panic (CIRCLE Entertainment, €2.99 / £2.49 until 31st December, normally €3.99 / £3.39) KAMI (CIRCLE Entertainment, €1.99 / £1.59 until 31st December, normally €2.99 / £2.39) Sweet Memories Blackjack (CIRCLE Entertainment, €2.99 / £2.39 until 31st December, normally €3.99 / £3.19) Zombie Panic in Wonderland DX (Akaoni Studio, €4.99 / £4.49 until 9th January, normally €7.00 / £6.30) 3DS HOME Themes Happy Holidays with Mario & Luigi (Nintendo, €1.99 / £1.79) Le Qpiz superoine nella notte! (Zodiak Active, €0.99) Pedalate Qpiz! (Zodiak Active, €0.99) Le Qpiz e la neve: bel lancio Liebe! (Zodiak Active, €0.99)
  17. Frankly, a fucking awesome week for a change. From Nintendolife: Wii U Retail Download Xenoblade Chronicles X (Monolith Soft, €59.99 / £49.99 or €49.99 / £40.99 until 18th December for those that have downloaded Xenoblade Chronicles on the same Wii U) - An exciting arrival for many that enjoyed the Wii predecessor, this new entry sees an entirely new setting and cast on the impressive Planet Mira as a colony of humans strives for survival. It's a complex, demanding game that also rewards the many hours of time invested, with some familiar ideas and mechanics blending with new approaches. Our review will be with you later today, and until then you can check out our preview. Available from 4th December. Wii U eShop Human Resource Machine (Tomorrow Corporation, €9.99 / £8.99) - From the team behind World of Goo and the intriguing Little Inferno, this takes the form of a fiendish puzzle game. In each level your boss gives you a job which you can automate by programming your little office worker. If you succeed you'll be promoted up to the next level for another year of work in the vast office building. Despite some flaws it's a neat idea, and we gave it a recommendation in our Human Resource Machine review. Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure (Capcom, €14.99 / £13.49 until 18th December, then €19.99 / £17.99) - When gamers talk about underappreciated gems from the Wii era, this can often come into the conversation. A quirky point-and-click adventure with a sharp script, this used the Wii Remote in various clever ways; it's very much a concept title for the system. We loved this in ourZack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure review. Wii U Virtual Console Kirby Mass Attack (Nintendo, €9.99 / £8.99 or €4.99 / £4.49 until 10th December for those that have downloaded Kirby: Power Paintbrush on the same Wii U) - Kirby has had his share of spin-off concept games, and this was another that graced the DS. Utilising the portable's touch screen this one's all about using lots of Kirby characters to get by, and we loved it in our review. Kirby: Power Paintbrush (Nintendo, €9.99 / £8.99 or €4.99 / £4.49 until 10th December for those that have downloaded Kirby Mass Attack on the same Wii U) - The DS predecessor to 2015 Wii U release Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush, this once again utilised the DS touch screen, except this time it was all about drawing lines to help Kirby roll his way along; we were fans in our originalKirby: Power Paintbrush review. Wii U eShop Temporary Discounts Wicked Monsters Blast! HD PLUS (Corecell, €2.99 / £2.69 until 31st December, normally € 7.99 / £7.19) EDGE (Two Tribes, €0.79 / £0.71 until 17th December, normally €1.99 / £1.79) RUSH (Two Tribes, €0.79 / £0.71 until 17th December, normally €1.99 / £1.79) Swords & Soldiers (Two Tribes, €1.19 / £0.99 until 17th December, normally €2.99 / £2.69) Toki Tori (Two Tribes, €0.79 / £0.69 until 17th December, normally €1.99 / £1.79) Toki Tori 2+ (Two Tribes, €2.99 / £2.49 until 17th December, normally €14.99 / £12.99) Wii U DLC Xenoblade Chronicles X (Disc version): Basic High-Speed Data Loading Pack - Impact: High(Nintendo, free) Xenoblade Chronicles X (Disc version): Enemy High-Speed Data Loading Pack - Impact: Medium (Nintendo, free) Xenoblade Chronicles X (Disc version): Player High-Speed Data Loading Pack - Impact: Medium (Nintendo, free) Xenoblade Chronicles X (Disc version): Skell High-Speed Data Loading Pack - Impact: Medium (Nintendo, free) 3DS Retail Download Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Bros. (Nintendo, €39.99 / £34.99) - The latest entry of AlphaDream's terrifically quirky RPG series sees the worlds of this franchise and Paper Mario combine. As a result the brothers team up with Paper Mario, and this allows the developers to play around with new ideas and approaches. We gave it a strong recommendation in our Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Bros. review. Available from 4th December. 3DS eShop Pokémon Picross (Nintendo, free) - This free-to-play version of the popular puzzle game comes with a Pokémon flavour, as you create images of 'mon and then utilise their skills and special buffs in follow-up puzzles. We'll start puzzling out how this one and its microtransactions come together. 3DS eShop Temporary Discounts AeternoBlade (Corecell, €4.99 / £4.50 until 31st December, normally €14.99 / £13.50) 3D MahJongg (Joindots, €3.99 / £3.59 until 17th December, normally €4.99 / £4.49) Gardenscapes (Joindots, €5.99 / £4.49 until 17th December, normally €7.99 / £5.99) Pazuru (Joindots, €4.49 / £2.99 until 17th December, normally €5.99 / £3.99) Darts Up 3D (EnjoyUp Games, €0.99 / £0.89 until 31st December, normally €2.99 / £2.69) Football Up Online (EnjoyUp Games, €1.99 / £1.79 until 31st December, normally €3.99 / £3.59) 3DS eShop DLC The following 'Picrites' options are available with Pokémon Picross: 200 Picrites (one-off price) - €0.99 / £0.89 200 Picrites - €1.49 / £1.39 1000 Picrites - €6.99 / £6.29 2000 Picrites - €12.99 / £11.69 4000 Picrites - €24.99 / £22.49 3DS HOME Themes The Winx at Alfea – A fairylicious school (Rainbow, €1.99 / £1.79) - Available from 4th December. 19. Here’s what we know: – Hiromasa Shikata (from: A Link Between Worlds) directing once again – Focus on multiplayer and co-op – That’s what the totem mechanic was designed for >> carry friends on shoulders and reach higher places – Decided on 3 rather than 4 since 4 was too tall – For single-player, there are supporting doll-like characters – Can beat a level by switching between Link and the two dolls – Starts in a kingdom full of fasion-savvy people – Something terrible has happened, and the king is looking for a hero – Should appeal to fans of the series – Collect items to create new items with new abilities – Same courses will play differently depending on what outfit you wear Here's what we think: - Four Swords for the 3DS? - Looks like a reskinned project game - Zelda on a budget? 20. This week! Something about Barbie's sisters' puppies, f'nar. And pony sex. Form Nintednolife (DYSWIDT): Wii U eShop Typoman (Headup Games, €13.99 / £9.99 or €11.49 / £8.49 until 19th December with E3 Nindies@Home demo on same system) - Kicking off as a Wii U exclusive, this is an intriguing puzzle platformer in which you create words in order to get past hazards and make progress. There was encouragement to be found in the Nindies@Home demo, so we'll dig out our Thesaurus and write up a review. Ninja Strike: Dangerous Dash (Natsume, €5.99 / £4.99) - This is a rather basic action title which sees you running through levels collecting treasures and taking out bad guys; we were left unimpressed in our Ninja Strike: Dangerous Dash review. Totem Topple (Crystalline Green, €2.99 / £1.99) - This budget title sounds rather intriguing, as you combine totem building with elements of tower defence, while totem heads of varying designs have a different effect against attacking creatures. There are Classic and Frantic modes, and we'll build up a review soon. Wii U Virtual Console LOL WUT Animal Crossing: Wild World (Nintendo, €9.99 / £8.99) - With Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival arriving in stores on 20th November, the DS entry will remind players of the traditional AC experience on the Wii U eShop. This is a charming entry that we enjoyed in our original review, though this download version won't include online or multiplayer features. Wii U Retail Downloads Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash (Nintendo, €49.99 / £39.99) - The latest entry in this particular sporting series sees Mario and company take to the court in all their HD glory. Mega Mushrooms and bigger jump shots make their appearances, along with the ability to level up an amiibo buddy for doubles play, though we were left underwhelmed by the content on offer in our preview. We'll have thoughts on the online play and more in our full review, soon. Available from 20th November. Copy of Mario Tennis free with all download purchases until 17th December. Barbie and her Sisters Puppy Rescue (Little Orbit, €29.99 / £24.99) Wii U eShop Temporary Discounts Blocky Bot (Mobot Studios, €1.29 / £0.94 until 3rd December, normally €2.69 / £1.89) Paper Monsters Recut (Mobot Studios, €3.19/ £2.69 until 3rd December, normally €6.49 / £5.49) Stone Shire (Finger Gun Games, €1.00 / £1.00 until 10th December, normally €7.99 / £7.00) TNT Racers - Nitro Machines Edition (Keen Games, €4.99 / £4.49 until 26th November, normally €7.99 / £6.99) 3DS eShop Johnny's Payday Panic (Office Create, €3.99/ £2.99) - Effectively Capitalism: The Game, you work a menial job in the food industry in order to earn money and buy fancy things; this happens through what looks like a series of frantic minigames. Apparently your wage goes up and down depending on performance and the boss can call you in at any time - even though it's breaking every employment law under the sun we'll get working on a review. 3DS Retail Downloads Nintendo Presents: New Style Boutique 2 - Fashion Forward (Nintendo, €39.99 / £34.99) - The second series entry on 3DS finally makes its way to the West; this one expands on its predecessor with new career paths and tasks, while amiibo support is included for unlocking some quirky outfits. We'll strut our stuff and bring you a review soon. Available from 20th November. Barbie and her Sisters Puppy Rescue (Little Orbit, €29.99 / £24.99) I Love My Pony (Bigben Interactive, €24.99 / £19.99) 3DS DLC Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2: All Skills Must Go! 21. This week, from Nintendolife: Wii U eShop Word Party (Lightwood Games, €12.79 / £11.99 until 26th November, then €15.99 / £14.99) - This series of 28 minigames accommodates up to five players at once - using Wii Remotes and the GamePad - and plays around with various wordy premises. There are crosswords and word searches, of course, but also quirky minigames such as "Whack-A-Vowel" and "Space Blaster". We had a brief play of this at EGX in September and found ourselves having quite a lot of fun; we'll bring you a review soon. Wii U Retail Download Rodea the Sky Soldier (NIS America, €49.99 / £39.99) - After a long time waiting this Yuji Naka title - or at least it was in its original guise - is finally on the way. It's been delayed a few times and was a commercial flop in Japan, yet we had fun with it when we got to play it earlier in the year. We're taking flight to bring you a review soon. Wii U eShop Temporary Discounts Affordable Space Adventures (KnapNok Games, €15.00 / £13.50 until 26th November, normally €18.99 / £16.99) Roving Rogue (Padaone Games, €5.99 / £5.39 until 26th November, normally €7.99 / £7.19) Rock 'N Racing Off Road DX (EnjoyUp Games, €4.95/ £4.45 until 10th December, normally €7.99 / £7.19) Wii U eShop Permanent Price Drop Canvaleon (OXiAB Game Studio, €9.95 / £8.99, was previously €13.95 / £12.59) Wii U Demo Word Party (Lightwood Games, free) 3DS eShop Family Bowling 3D (Arc System Works, €4.99 / £4.49) — Arc System Works continues its Family range of games, allowing up to four players to take each other on in multiple modes, while solo bowlers can also take on some challenges. We reviewed the North American release over two years ago and thought it was rather good. 3DS Retail Downloads Rodea the Sky Soldier (NIS America, €39.99 / £34.99) - The portable version of this title could provide a nice alternative for those seeking fast-paced action on the go. Hello Kitty & Friends: Rockin' World Tour (Bergsala Lightweight, €29.99 / £24.99) - Available from 13th November. Horse Life 4 (Ravenscourt, €39.99 / £34.99) 3DS DLC Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2: Addonetarium (NIS America, €0.99 / £0.89) - Available from 13th November. 3DS HOME Themes SEGA Game Gear Theme (SEGA, €1.79 / £1.59) SEGA Mark III Theme (SEGA, €1.79 / £1.59) SEGA Master System Theme (SEGA, €1.79 / £1.59) SEGA MEGA DRIVE Theme (SEGA, €1.79 / £1.59) Barbie (Mattel, €1.49 / £1.39) Monster High (Mattel, €1.49 / £1.39) Hot Wheels (Mattel, €1.49 / £1.39)
  22. REMEMBER REMEMBER THE FIFTH OF NOVEMBER Nintendolife says: Wii U eShop Electronic Super Joy (Broken Rules, €7.99 / £6.99) - The predecessor to Electronic Super Joy: Groove City, which was released in North America by a different publisher, this version includes extras and DLC from the PC original. It's precision platforming that's also extremely stylish in its presentation, and we'll have a review with you before it launches. Bike Rider UltraDX - WORLD TOUR (Spicy soft, €6.99 / £4.99) - We're big fans of the original games on 3DS, so there's plenty of reason to be pleased to see this expanded edition arrive on Wii U. Here it supports multiplayer and you can even play as your Mii in the new Battle Mode, for example. We'll hop on our bike to bring you a review soon. Wii U Virtual Console Contra Advance: The Alien Wars EX (Konami, €6.99 / £6.29) - This is a loose port of the SNES classic Contra III: The Alien Wars and originally hit the Game Boy Advance in 2002. It's far from a straight conversion of the 16-bit classic, however; the screen-clearing Mega Bombs have been removed, as has the dual-wield ability which was so handy on the SNES. These omissions are balanced somewhat by the fact that the player can now lock their character's aim while moving, and is also given a opportunity to revert to their previous weapon after picking up a fresh one. We'll blast away some foes for a review. Medabots AX: Metabee & Rokusho (Natsume, €6.99 / £6.29 for each version) - Apparently this 'AX' iteration is a variation on the recent releases with a very similar name; we'll take a look, and in the meantime you can see our original Medabots: Metabee & Rokusho review. Megaman Battle Network 5 Team: Colonel & Protoman (Capcom, €6.99 / £6.29) - This spin-off, turn-based series continues with yet another GBA entry to come over to the Wii U Virtual Console. Once again there are evil forces to stop and two version to choose from, so we'll get cracking on our review. Wii U Retail Download Adventure Time: Finn & Jake Investigations (Little Orbit, €29.99 / £24.99) - With 3D visuals that fans will either love or hate, this offers another gaming experience in the popular IP; we gave it a recommendation in our Adventure Time: Finn & Jake Investigations Wii U review. Available from 6th November. The Peanuts Movie: Snoopy's Grand Adventure (Activision, €29.99 / £29.99) - Available from 6th November. Hello Kitty Kruisers (Bergsala Lightweight, €29.99 / £24.99) - Available from 6th November. Wii U eShop Temporary Discounts Nano Assault Neo (Shin'en Multimedia, €7.49 / £6.70 until 26th November, normally €9.99 / £8.99) 99Moves (EnjoyUp Games, €1.49 / £1.34 until 3rd December, normally €2.49 / £2.29) Abyss (EnjoyUp Games, €1.49 / £1.34 until 3rd December, normally €1.99 / £1.79) Rock Zombie (EnjoyUp Games, €3.99 / £3.59 until 3rd December, normally €6.99 / £6.29) SDK Paint (HullBreach Studios, €2.99 / £2.99 until 11th November, normally €4.49 / £3.99) 3DS eShop Toki Tori 3D (Two Tribes, €1.99 / £1.79) - A puzzle title that's been popular on multiple formats over the years, this entry has been ported by Engine Software. There's a new 'rewind' feature and item swapping on the touch screen, so this could potentially be a particularly strong version of the game; we'll hatch out and bring you a review soon. 3DS Retail Downloads Chibi-Robo!: Zip Lash (Nintendo, €29.99 / £24.99) - One of Nintendo's lesser known mascots is given an opportunity at stardom in a platformer, with the cute robot's plug being a vital weapon and means of exploration. Retail editions also come with an amiibo, and this release is certainly an interesting arrival in terms of giving the IP a push for the mainstream. We admired this one's charm but had a few reservations in our Chibi-Robo!: Zip Lash review. Available from 6th November. Free "Chibi-Robo and the Toys" Home Theme with downloads of the game until 3rd December. Adventure Time: Finn & Jake Investigations (Little Orbit, €29.99 / £24.99) - The latest in the run of licensed titles from this franchise; you can check out our Adventure Time: Finn & Jake Investigations 3DS review for a lowdown. Available from 6th November. Gravity Falls: Legend of the Gnome Gemulets (Ubisoft, €29.99 / £19.99) - This licensed title utilises the UbiArt engine, though we were disappointed with the end result in our Gravity Falls: Legend of the Gnome Gemulets review. Available from 6th November. The Peanuts Movie: Snoopy's Grand Adventure (Activision, €29.99 / £24.99) - Available from 6th November. Hello Kitty and the Apron of Magic: Rhythm Cooking (Bergsala Interactive, €29.99 / £24.99) -Available from 6th November. 3DS DLC Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker: Let the Demon Grow (NIS America, €0.99 / £0.89) - Available from 6th November. Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker: Lost Demon Rescue (NIS America, free) - Available from 6th November. 3DS eShop Temporary Discounts Siesta Fiesta (Mojo Bones, €0.99/ £0.99 until 12th November, normally €4.49 / £3.99) Aqua Moto Racing 3D (Zordix AB, €3.99 / £3.59 until 12th November, normally €7.99 / £7.19) Football Up 3D (EnjoyUp Games, €1.99 / £1.79 until 3rd December, normally €2.99 / £2.36) 3DS Demos Nintendo Presents: New Style Boutique 2 - Fashion Forward (Nintendo, free) Battleminer (Wobbly Tooth, free) The Legend of Dark Witch (CIRCLE Entertainment, free) 3DS HOME Themes Pokémon: Mega Mewtwo and BREAK Evolution (Nintendo, €1.99 / £1.79) Chibi-Robo and the Toys (Nintendo, €1.99 / £1.79) THE PEANUTS MOVIE (Librica, €1.99 / £1.79)
  23. This week, from Nintendolife, SOME ACTUAL GOOD STUFF HOLY HELL WHAT: Wii U Retail Download Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water (Nintendo / Koei Tecmo, €49.99 / £39.99 with free initial download) - Unlike in North America this download release is also accompanied by a physical retail limited edition. This is a typically chilling entry in the series, which also utilises the GamePad's controls for the Camera Obscura. We were fans of the setting and much about this game, though it does have a few flaws - you can get the full lowdown in our Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water review. Prologue and first two chapters are available as a free download, available from 30th October. Wii U eShop Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition (Capcom, €14.99 / £13.49 until 5th November, then €19.99 / £17.99) - It revolutionised the series when it first arrived on GameCube, and this Wii version includes Wii Remote pointer support and the Separate Ways add-on that was previously a PS2 exclusive. We absolutely loved it in our review and have praised it in various articles over the years. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (Nicalis, €14.99 / £13.49) - Originally developed and released by Edmund McMillan (one half of Team Meat), this has been a long time coming in Europe. This Rebirth edition has improved visuals, new characters, over 100 new items and more in comparison to the PC original, all within the procedurally generated dungeon crawling approach that earned it so many fans. We enjoyed this a lot in our The Binding of Isaac Wii U review. Freedom Planet (GalaxyTrail, €13.99 / £10.99 or €11.89 / £9.34 untl 19th November if you downloaded the Nindies@Home E3 preview) - Though this started out as a Sonic fan game it expands on its source of inspiration, introduces its own world and makes adjustments to give itself an identity of its own. It's an impressive achievement, and we gave it a strong recommendation in ourFreedom Planet review. Slender: The Arrival (Blue Isle Studios, €6.74 / £4.79 until 5th November, then €8.99 / £6.39) - This sequel to 'that game that everyone pretended to scream about on YouTube' has arrived on a host of platforms, and this Wii U version arrives just in time for Halloween. This Wii U entry does have the unique feature of controlling the flashlight with the Wii Remote pointer, and is sure to entertain those that enjoy some old-fashioned jump scares in their gaming. We'll bring you a review soon. Octodad: Dadliest Catch (Young Horse, €11.19 / £9.59 until 5th November, then €13.99 / £11.99) - Already a firm favourite on other systems, Octodad is the story of an octopus pretended to be your average suburban father. To keep up his cover he must perform all the typical tasks a dad does - mowing the lawn, caring for his kids and being an attentive husband to his wife. It's utterly mad, but fantastic fun, and we'll see how this Wii U version stacks up in a review. Wii U eShop Temporary Discounts Swords & Soldiers II (Ronimo Games, €14.99 / £13.49 until 5th November, normally €18.99 / £16.99) Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Wii U Edition (Bandai Namco, €9.89 / £6.50 /until 12th November, normally €29.99 / £19.99) ONE PIECE Unlimited World Red (Bandai Namco, €14.00 / £9.99 until 12th November, normally €54.99 / £39.99) PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures (Bandai Namco, €9.99 / £8.99 until 12th November, normally €39.99 / £36.99) PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures 2 (Bandai Namco, €15.00 / £10.49 until 12th November, normally €34.99 / £24.99) Ben 10 Omniverse (Bandai Namco, €4.99 / £4.99 until 12th November, normally €19.99 / £19.99) Rise of the Guardians (Bandai Namco, €4.99 / £4.99 until 12th November, normally €19.99 / £19.99) Family Party: 30 Great Games Obstacle Arcade (Bandai Namco, €2.99 / £2.99 until 12th November, normally €19.99 / £19.99) Canvaleon (OXiAB Game Studios, €6.95/ £6.29 until 5th November, normally €13.95 / £12.59) Wii U eShop Permanent Discount Stealth Inc 2: A Game of Clones (Curve Digital, €9.99 / £7.99, was €13.99 / £12.99) New Nintendo 3DS eShop The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (Nicalis, €14.99 / £13.49) - This portable iteration is only available on the New Nintendo 3DS, and though it's packed with all of the core content it doesn't have the local co-op mode. This fully patched version earned our praise in our The Binding of Isaac New 3DS review. 3DS eShop Escape from Zombie City (Tom Create, €2.99 / £2.69) - A frantic shooter from a top-down perspective, unsurprisingly your goal is to take out a whole lot of zombies, with some different game modes to add freshness to the constant gunplay. Though it maybe doesn't do enough to stand out from the crowd we gave this a modest recommendation in our Escape from Zombie City review. 3DS Retail Download Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker (NIS America, €39.99 / £34.99) - Despite its remarkably long title and initial status as a remaster of a DS title, this is far more than it appears on the surface. It takes an excellent RPG experience and enhances it, before throwing in a new story arc that effectively doubles the content on offer. You can read our detailed Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker review for more details. 3DS DLC Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker - Macca Makes an Escape (NIS America, €0.99 / £0.89) Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker - The Beginner's Brawl (NIS America, free) 3DS eShop Temporary Discounts Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy+ (Bandai Namco, €19.99 / £14.99 until 12th November, normally €39.99 / £29.99) Project X Zone (Bandai Namco, €9.89 / £6.50 until 12th November, normally €29.99 / £19.99) Regular Show: Mordecai & Rigby in 8-Bit Land (Bandai Namco, €4.99 / £4.99 until 12th November, normally €24.99 / £24.99) ONE PIECE Unlimited World Red (Bandai Namco, €9.99 / £6.99 until 12th November, normally €34.99 / £24.99) ONE PIECE Romance Dawn (Bandai Namco, €9.89 / £9.39 until 12th November, normally €29.99 / £28.49) PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures (Bandai Namco, €8.74 / £7.12 until 12th November, normally €34.99 / £28.49) PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures 2 (Bandai Namco, €9.99 / £6.99 until 12th November, normally €34.99 / £24.99) Ben 10 Omniverse 2 (Bandai Namco, €4.99 / £3.74 until 12th November, normally €19.99 / £14.99) Power Rangers Megaforce (Bandai Namco, €9.89 / £9.39 until 12th November, normally €29.99 / £28.49) Power Rangers Super Megaforce (Bandai Namco, €9.99 / £7.00 until 12th November, normally €34.99 / £24.99) Tenkai Knights: Brave Battle (Bandai Namco, €9.99 / £6.99 until 12th November, normally €34.99 / £24.99) The Keep (Cinemax, €5.99 / £5.49 until 11th November, normally €9.99 / £8.99) 3DS Demo Chibi-Robo!: Zip Lash (Nintendo, demo) 3DS HOME Themes Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer - The Office (Nintendo, €1.99 / £1.79) Super Mario Bros. Famicom Cartridge (Nintendo, €1.99 / £1.79)
  24. This week! From Nintendolife! 3D Sonic 2! And some other things!: Wii U eShop STARWHAL (Breakfall, €9.99 / £8.99) - An intense and chaotic multiplayer title, the Wii U version includes an exclusive new 5 player mode. This mode titled "Blastopus" involves players fighting against each other, and adds a fifth player to the action with the assistance of the Wii U GamePad. We found this to be a delight in our STARWHAL review. Whispering Willows (Abstraction Games, €9.99 / £7.99) - A narrative driven 2D adventure that was originally on Ouya, you play as a young girl called Elena who can project her spirit out of her body; it sounds interesting as a concept, but we'll see whether it has the right spirit in our review. Mario Sports Mix (Nintendo, €14.99 / £13.49 until 15th October, then €19.99 / £17.99) - We have another Wii retail game on the eShop, this time with one of the various minigame titles that arrived on the hugely successful little console. This features sports such as Basketball and Ice Hockey, and we had a lot of fun with it back in our Mario Sports Mix review. Wii U Virtual Console Mario Golf (Nintendo, €9.99 / £8.99) - The Nintendo 64 had some excellent multiplayer games and spin-offs, and another arrives on the Wii U in the form of this collection of golfing shenanigans. There are six courses and 10 modes to try out; this was a trailblazer in the genre of podgy mascots showing surprising sporting prowess. We gave this a solid recommendation in our Mario Golf review. Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures (Bandai Namco, €7.99 / £5.49) - A SNES title from the mascots heyday, this is an "innovative interactive cartoon", or at least as far as a game like this can be on 16-bit hardware; this does also include full arcade versions of Pac-Man and Ms Pac-Man, too. We'll gobble this up for a review. Dig Dug II (Bandai Namco, €4.99 / £3.49) - Bandai Namco keeps up its run of retro sequels on the Wii U with this Dig Dug NES entry, which moves the action from underground up to the surface. We'll dig in for a review. Pocky & Rocky With Becky (Natsume, €6.99 / £6.29) - The GBA can't miss out on the Virtual Console goodness either, so Natsume steps up with this action / adventure / shooter; you embark on a quest across seven stages to defeat an evil Hydra Dragon and a army of mythical creatures. We'll bring you a review soon. Wii U eShop Temporary Discounts Citizens of Earth (Atlus, €4.99 / £4.00 until 22nd October, normally €11.99 / £9.99) Little Inferno (Tomorrow Corporation, €4.99 / £4.49 until 15th October, normally €9.99 / £8.99) 3DS eShop 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (SEGA, €4.99 / £4.49) - The brilliant M2-developed series of retro SEGA titles given new life on the 3DS continues with this highly regarded Sonic title. When debates are had over the best ever Sonic game this one is normally in the conversation, which at the time added the spin dash to speed the mascot up. We'll check this out and dash into a review. 3DS eShop Temporary Discounts Citizens of Earth (Atlus, €4.99 / £4.00 until 22nd October, normally €11.99 / £9.99) Retro City Rampage: DX (Vblank Entertainment, €4.99 / £4.49 until 22nd October, normally €8.99 / £7.99) Secret Agent Files: Miami (Joindots, €5.99 / £4.49 until 22nd October, normally €7.99 / £5.99) Jewel Match 3 (Joindots, €4.99 / £3.99 until 22nd October, normally €6.99 / £4.99) Funfair Party Games (Joindots, €4.99 / £3.69 until 22nd October, normally €6.99 / £4.99) Real Heroes: Firefighter 3D Download Version (Zordix AB, €4.99 / £4.49 until 29th October, normally €9.99 / £8.99) 3DS eShop Permanent Discount Toy Stunt Bike (Wobbly Tooth, €2.99 / £2.99, was €4.99 / £4.49)
  25. This week! From Nintendolife! A load of shite! More light gun games though? Wii U Virtual Console Hogan's Alley (Nintendo, €4.99 / £3.49) - This was a Zapper game on the NES, and like Duck Hunt before it arrives on the Wii U with Remote pointer support, allowing modern gamers to sample the simple joys of light gun shooting. In this one you take on multiple levels shooting at spinning cardboard targets or shoot at tin cans to keep them up in the air; it all sounds pretty simple, but we'll take some shots for a review. Wild Gunman (Nintendo, €4.99 / £3.49) - "You mean you have to use your hands? That's like a baby's toy!" Perhaps more famous for its cameo in Back to the Future: Part Two than as an actual game, this is another NES light gun title given the Wii Remote treatment. We'll head back to the past to bring you a review in the future, or something. Wii U Retail Download Just Dance 2016 (Ubisoft, €44.99 / £29.99) - More dancing shenanigans with some extra weirdness thrown in this year; there is a song about stepping on a Chihuahua, after all. The Wii U version will include support for the subscription-based Just Dance Unlimited (one month free with the purchase), which provides access to new songs and those from the older games. Available from 23rd October. Wii U DLC Just Dance Unlimited 30 day access (Ubisoft, €6.99 / £5.49) Just Dance Unlimited 90 day access (Ubisoft, €14.99 / £11.99) Just Dance Unlimited 365 day access (Ubisoft, €39.99 / £29.99) Wii U eShop Temporary Discounts Resident Evil Revelations (Capcom, €9.99 / £7.99 until 5th November, normally €49.99 / £39.99) Bombing Bastards (Sanuk Games, €4.99 / £4.49 until 29th October, normally €6.99 / £5.99) Spot the Differences: Party! (Sanuk Games, €2.99 / £2.69 until 29th October, normally €5.00 / £4.49) Sanatory Hallways (Wegenbartho, €5.99 / £4.99 until 10th November, normally €9.99 / £8.99) 3DS eShop Gunslugs 2 (Engine Software, €4.99 / £4.49) - Originally developed by OrangePixel, this is an intense pixel-based action game with randomly generated levels, pumping music and a notable '80s pop culture vibe. We'll have a review with you prior to launch, but until then you can check out our interview with the publisher and developer. Wizdom (Moving Player, €9.99 / £8.99) - This title seems to blend match-three puzzling with aspects of exploration, with the fantastical plot placing you in the vital role of producing outfits to satisfy demanding clients. It sounds bonkers but could potentially be fun, so we'll check it out in a review. 3DS Retail Download The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes (Nintendo, €39.99 / £34.99) - This spin off utilises the graphics engine and mechanics first seen in The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, but shifts the focus to local and online co-op play.
