  1. I'm not a fan of Dark Souls but I do enjoy seeing what publishers think they can get away with when it comes to the ultra expensive collectors edition. https://store.bandainamcoent.eu/uk/product/526642/dark-souls-trilogy-collector-s-edition-ps4?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=ds-trilogy-announcement-19012019 All yours for just £449.99. I know there are a lot of Dark Souls fans on this forum, any takers?

  3. Just announced at Capcom Cup, a collection which includes Street Fighter 1, four iterations of Street Fighter II, the three Alpha games and all three Street Fighter IIIs. Online play for SFII', Super Turbo, Alpha 3 and 3rd Strike as well. Oooof. PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC. http://www.capcom-unity.com/strumslinger/blog/2017/12/10/celebrate-30-years-of-street-fighter-with-the-street-fighter-30th-anniversary-collection
  4. Oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy! More chicken combat... ...and Severed's grappling hook is now added to the ability repertoire. I can feel my second Platinum trophy coming up! (I assume that this is timed exclusive btw; they would be nuts to not launch this on Switch.)
  5. This got mentioned a few times in the PlayStation Network and Steam threads, but, by golly, it deserves its own thread. Just two hours in, and this Metroidvania has already sunk its fingernails well deep into my back. It's gorgeous, controls very well, and the second area is pretty much 2D Yharnam. (Actually, I'm kind of convinced it's deliberately meant to be nod towards Bloodborne.) Its RPG elements are very basic (you can equip passive and active buffs, and that's pretty much it, it seems) which is a relief, allowing you to focus on the platforming and the simple, yet satisfying Souls-like combat. It's an effing shame that I'm still not entirely through with Zelda and have another major release begging for my attention (and that's even beside the fact that it's a sin that this isn't getting a handheld release; this has Vita and even Switch written all over it) but, man, I can't wait to dive into this proper. Anyone else playing this?

  7. Look - another game set in a Japanese school! Mandatory dramatic trailer: Metacritic 80 Danganronpa is an adventure game set in Hope's Peak Academy, a school with a reputation so good that anyone who graduates from there is said to be set for life. The current year's new students are, as always, a big deal - fourteen of the most prestigious and talented youngsters from their fields, such as the Ultimate Baseball Star, Ultimate Programmer (...) and, er, Ultimate Fanfic Creator. And you - Makoto Naegi. You are the "Ultimate Lucky Student" who won the fifteenth spot at the school by virtue of winning a raffle for your place. Showing up for your first day you enter the school, but find that everything is not quite as it seems... You find yourself trapped in the school along with the other new students, and are informed that the only way out is to commit the perfect crime - murder a fellow student, and don't get found out. If you succeed, you're out. If you don't, things might get a little... grisly. Danganronpa's been described as a mix of the social segments of the recent Persona entries, investigations like Phoenix Wright and storytelling in the mould of Virtue's Last Reward, along with featuring an idiotic animal antagonist to boot. As such spoilers will probably ruin it for everyone so: USE SPOILER TAGS when discussing the story please! Also buy from Grainger Games for £27 (Price correct as of 21 March 2014).

  12. Long before the we wanted to go into battle on an island, the world was in big big trouble and only a few brave heroes could SAVE THE WORLD! Or something like that anyway. Fortnite was originally a PvE game and despite Battle Royale being the darling of the industry right now, this is still the meat of Epic's game... But what is it? Well I am too lazy to write stuff so this is from Wikipedia: Whilst the game does have micro-transactions and despite needing to pay to get access right now, the balancing seems pretty decent on the whole, with you being able to progress through the game just by playing and getting end of mission rewards. What's best though, the game is very generous with V-Bucks, meaning you can easily earn enough to buy a full season of Battle Royale within a few days. A few on the forum are really into it... you should be to. Media Our very own @robdood is the go to forum expert in this mode right now and you should check out his videos too. 13. I think this game is good enough to warrant it's own thread, I was surprised there wasn't one already. It just recently launched at mid price, 23 quid, on all the major platforms. It's been in early access as an open world survival game for ages. It now has a good story mode with 5 chapters, but only 2 have been released so far with the other 3 coming as free downloads. I put about 40 hours into the sandbox mode a few years back, but it's been overhauled since then and is now pretty beautiful and highly polished. If you like survival games, especially solo, this is the best one I've played. Highly atmospheric and scary at times. Just checked - rated very positive on steam with 25k reviews and 4.5/5 on xbox.

  15. I've been doing a weekly mini review on some smaller eshop games this last few weeks, in the hope of promoting some discussion about the games. I figured I'd spin off some of the posts into their own thread to see how interested others are. So here goes. This week: Night In The Woods Price: £17.09 Metacritic: 85% https://www.metacritic.com/game/switch/night-in-the-woods Also on: Pretty much everything. It's hard to really talk about Night In The Woods without going into spoiler territory. I can't even quantify what appeals about the game so much to me, really. You play as Mae, a young cat who returns home to her little town after dropping out of college. You rekindle old friendships, you attempt to talk with your disappointed parents, you wander around town, noticing how many places have closed down since you were last here, you poke at dismembered arms with sticks. The atmosphere reminds me of Animal Crossing if it was written by David Lynch. Things just don't seem quite right in this little town. What stands out about Night In The Woods is the dialogue. The core four main friends have easy, well written conversations that flow naturally. Oftentimes, this will slow the pace of the game down a bit as you end up listening to talk about what was on TV lastnight, but it really does aid the character development. And when the game takes a left turn about two thirds of the way through, you realise how important those conversations are. Honestly, I just enjoyed spending time in the world. At about 6-7 hours, it's not the longest game, But the feel of decay, of a town which is failing in the face of the modern world is so well realised. And it has a great story to tell.

  21. Latest update 30/3: Fargo has announced that when/if they get to 2,1 million, Chris Avellone and Obsidian will join the project!!! Update 15/3: Funding goal ($900,000) achieved and will continue to grow until the funding ends, April 17. So it's actually happening: we're getting Wasteland 2, a proper old-school isometric RPG, funded only by the fans, which means no meddling from publishers eager to please the lowest common denominator. The game is currently planned for release in October 2013. Original post: If you haven't heard yet, Brian Fargo and Inxile entertainment are planning on making a sequel to Wasteland, to be funded entirely through the Kickstarter website. Fargo has been wanting to make a sequel for 20 years but had no luck in securing publisher funding. But Tim Schafer's recent success with fund-raising for an old-school adventure game has inspired Fargo to go for the same approach. Here's what he told NMA about the lack of interest from publishers, shortly after the release of Fallout 3: So they already have some design and story material in place from then, but right now the game's future depends on whether they can achieve the same success as Schafer with the Kickstarter funding. UPDATE 13/3: Funding has begun on Kickstarter: http://www.kickstart...ile/wasteland-2 Be sure to check out this introduction video, which is both funny and informative (if you're unfamiliar with Wasteland and/or Fargo): From the Kickstarter page: Pledging $15 will get you a digital copy of the game, but If you pledge $50, you will get a full large boxed copy of the game, complete with worn cloth map and old school instruction book! However, you must add $15 to that for overseas shipping! (cheers Gerbik for this bit of info) And I see someone coughed up with $5,000 to get a statue of himself built in the game Official website. UPDATE 15/3: Funding goal of $900,000 - the highest ever on Kickstarter - achieved in just 2 days! Planned release in October next year.
  22. I agree, it's getting discarded just as soon as I can get a decent Dark Knight poster in it's place!
  23. Wales Interactive have a new FMV mystery game coming out. The Shape Shifting Detective. If you weren't interested (you should be, it looks fantastic) then did you notice a certain someone...? No? If I did 'This' would it mean anything to you? Coming to Steam, Xbox One, PS4, Switch in Autumn.
