  1. I got my Steam key this morning! Who else is jumping in? http://www.causalbitgames.com/our-games/battle-princess-madelyn/
  2. I've been doing a weekly mini review on some smaller eshop games this last few weeks, in the hope of promoting some discussion about the games. I figured I'd spin off some of the posts into their own thread to see how interested others are. So here goes. This week: Night In The Woods Price: £17.09 Metacritic: 85% https://www.metacritic.com/game/switch/night-in-the-woods Also on: Pretty much everything. It's hard to really talk about Night In The Woods without going into spoiler territory. I can't even quantify what appeals about the game so much to me, really. You play as Mae, a young cat who returns home to her little town after dropping out of college. You rekindle old friendships, you attempt to talk with your disappointed parents, you wander around town, noticing how many places have closed down since you were last here, you poke at dismembered arms with sticks. The atmosphere reminds me of Animal Crossing if it was written by David Lynch. Things just don't seem quite right in this little town. What stands out about Night In The Woods is the dialogue. The core four main friends have easy, well written conversations that flow naturally. Oftentimes, this will slow the pace of the game down a bit as you end up listening to talk about what was on TV lastnight, but it really does aid the character development. And when the game takes a left turn about two thirds of the way through, you realise how important those conversations are. Honestly, I just enjoyed spending time in the world. At about 6-7 hours, it's not the longest game, But the feel of decay, of a town which is failing in the face of the modern world is so well realised. And it has a great story to tell.

  4. Out today! I’m getting it on Switch. I may have ordered 3 ships off amazon last night as well. Reviews have been decent for the most part.
  5. Wales Interactive have a new FMV mystery game coming out. The Shape Shifting Detective. If you weren't interested (you should be, it looks fantastic) then did you notice a certain someone...? No? If I did 'This' would it mean anything to you? Coming to Steam, Xbox One, PS4, Switch in Autumn.
  6. Available February 26th 2019
  7. Just been officially announced: http://www.dirtrally2.com/ Disappointed in the branding
  8. Any objections? Coming to PS4, Xbox One, Switch and Steam in early 2019.
  9. This seems to have come pretty much out of nowhere and certainly looks incredibly impressive technically. That animation! It's being developed by Cygames, whose only real notable titles that I can see have been the card game Shadowverse and the Zone of the Enders 2 remaster. It's only been announced for PS4 so far but it's not clear yet if it's an exclusive.
  10. Gonna be some good ones I reckon

    Planet Alpha

Picked this up on Switch. It looks pretty bad on TV mode (playing on a 4k set admittedly) but better - if basic - on handheld. Gameplay is pretty basic. I guess I was hoping for a Inside/Limbo with Sci Fi sort of thing but no such luck. The music is quite atmospheric but maybe as I’m playing it on Switch I don’t get the same sense of awe that I got from the trailers. Frame rate chugs on a few occasions though nothing too serious. Some bits (I’m an hour or so in) are quite creepy and scary but as the checkpoints are so generous there’s no real feeling of tension or fear. I’m disappointed as I was looking forward to this.
  12. First released on PS2 in 2001, Onimusha: Warlords arrives on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Steam on January 15, 2019 with a high-definition visual upgrade.
  13. Nothing has changed this year. Apart from Kick-Off, Journey and UT. https://www.gamespot.com/articles/fifa-19-pro-clubs-and-career-mode-are-basically-un/1100-6461333/
  14. Just announced at GamesCom. After a string of misfires it looks like Supermassive Games are returning to the successful Until Dawn formula for an anthology of stand-alone horror games where your decisions affect the narrative outcome and everyone can live/die etc Namco Bandai are publishing, so Xbox and PC owners to get to join in this time. The first story in the anthology is called Man of Medan and is due for release next year. I really enjoyed Until Dawn so I'm cautiously in. I think a lot of people were requesting that they basically do a series of stand-alone games where each focuses on a specific horror sub-genre so it looks like they were paying attention.
  15. Long before the we wanted to go into battle on an island, the world was in big big trouble and only a few brave heroes could SAVE THE WORLD! Or something like that anyway. Fortnite was originally a PvE game and despite Battle Royale being the darling of the industry right now, this is still the meat of Epic's game... But what is it? Well I am too lazy to write stuff so this is from Wikipedia: Whilst the game does have micro-transactions and despite needing to pay to get access right now, the balancing seems pretty decent on the whole, with you being able to progress through the game just by playing and getting end of mission rewards. What's best though, the game is very generous with V-Bucks, meaning you can easily earn enough to buy a full season of Battle Royale within a few days. A few on the forum are really into it... you should be to. Media Our very own @robdood is the go to forum expert in this mode right now and you should check out his videos too. Check out his channel too. 17. So, with like 6 weeks (?) until Forsaken drops, and a list of Triumphs to grab, I assume (and hope) there'll be people reinvigorated to do things. Please drop your name and such in here, what you want to get done, and typically when you can play, and hopefully we can find each other? Uncle Mike - I want as many Triumphs as I can get. I have not done: Prestige Raid (all), Normal Spire of Stars, Whisper of the Worm, or as many Escalation Protocols as I'd like (I want the shotgun.) I can play pretty easily most work nights, typically between 7:30 to 11ish (based on tiredness and work.) I'll figure out some table setup when we've got a few together.
  18. Most important bit currently: Switch version out on August 7, 2018! Should leave you with enough time to complete Hollow Knight.
  19. Did anyone else start playing this on the Switch the other day (Or indeed has played it on other platforms). I'm really enjoying myself. Combat is fast and fun. The plot can be a little talky and slow but I like the castaways idea and building up the base slowly as you move through the plot is satisfying. Currently I'm level 30.
  20. The following are available for download from 3rd July: Absolver (PS4) Heavy Rain (PS4) Rayman HD (PS3) Extreme Exorcism (PS3) Space Overlords (PS Vita + PS4) Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma (PS Vita)
  21. Another very short trailer on this one, with Spiders moving right away from the Mars War Logs / Technomancer universe into something more fantasy inspired.
  22. Fresh from the exceedingly grim atmosphere portrayed in Vampyr, here's another interesting, though very dark, prospect.
