  1. Please be good, please be good, please get swinging right, please be good
  2. Thought this deserved its own topic as it's getting rather good reviews and is out tomorrow. It's a several hours long walking simulator, which seems like the perfect antidote to the lengthy epics we've been getting over the past few months. The hook of the game seems to be a more morbid Gone Home. You play as a girl returning to her family home and exploring the rooms of her now long-dead relatives. So far, so derivative. But what sets it apart is that you play as a participant in each family member's death via flashbacks. While most reviews have wisely steered clear of spoiling too much, these are meant to be extremely diverse (in terms of both presentation and tone), imaginative and often very sad. It's from The Unfinished Swan devs and although there aren't tons of reviews out yet, the ones that are look really promising. It's out tomorrow for £15.99, but if you preorder it on PSN today and are a Plus member, it's £12.79.

  4. Announced at Playstation Experience 2016, and mentioned in the Uncharted 4 thread, I thought it deserved its own thread. Also with people complaining about megathreads and all that. Impressions based on this trailer - I really like the idea of playing as Chloe, as she's one of my favourite characters in the Uncharted series. Nadine is cool too, she kicks ass in Uncharted 4 so it's good to see her return as well. Graphics look glorious and I hope there will be a substantial chunk of gameplay. I bloody love Uncharted.
  5. Did a search for a topic on this but couldn't find one. Maybe not a surprise considering I've seen two videos so far, saying they'd not really heard of it before the last month. This is developed by Gunfire Games and mashes together a few genres. It's part souls, part Borderlands and a bit rogue-like. You can play online with up to three others or play solo, completely offline. It looks to have highly customisable characters, no micro transactions, with a promise of paid and free DLC. The gunplay looks pretty good though the locations seem quite sparse. There's the promise of 40+ weapons, excluding Melee. Over 100 enemy types and 20-30 bosses.
  6. Actual impressions of the game start here: Let's kick this topic off! 10 years in the making: Looks a lot like a cross between Onimusha, Dark Souls and Ninja Gaiden. Team Ninja are developing, so hopefully it will have some of that old NG1/2 magic and not NG3.

    Out March 27th 2018.
  8. I thought this might have been Onimusha at first, but no it's a new PS4 exclusive from Sucker Punch. Open world set in feudal Japan.

Looks utterly amazing: It's got a little bits of Super Meat Boy, VVVVV, N++, Escape Goat, and of course Towerfall movement set and midair dash. Single player platformer adventures are still probably my favourite genre, and from the amount I played the single player challenges in Towerfall I trust that this will be another title to look out for. Release later this year.
  10. First released on PS2 in 2001, Onimusha: Warlords arrives on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Steam on January 15, 2019 with a high-definition visual upgrade.
  11. I played this for hours last week in Sweden. (And did a couple of days of snow and ice drifting to match.) Ask away!
  12. First YAY Xbox. Second oh thank fuck it looks live they;ve dropped the "real world" military vibe of it and gone more to the classsic era.
  13. So this is amazing, and it deserves more coverage (in my opinion). They're looking for $30,000 and they've already got over half that within a day. There's no mention of stretch goals yet, personally I'd love to see it come to Vita. Building on the classic modes everyone has come to know and love, Drift Stage plans to include multiple new game types utilizing modern game design techniques, such as an infinite drift mode incorporating a procedurally generated course with checkpoints, as well as a decal system, allowing you to personalize your car with custom images.Single Race A conventional single player race against AI opponents. Time Trial Race against staff ghosts and your personal best as well as your friends' best online leaderboard times. Infinite Drift Checkpoint style races on a randomly generated track. Daily Challenges Challenge your friends in a time/score based daily challenge. Career Mode Choose your racer and follow their story across multiple races. Workshop Create custom tracks in an in-game editor and customize your cars with decals. Local & Online Multiplayer Drift Stage features local split screen up to four players, just like the old days, in addition to online racing. There's a playable demo available here and even in the early alpha state, it's hugely enjoyable. The demo even has a photo mode in it already, so it's already way better than Driveclub!

This is currently 88 on Metacritic and Eurogamer have given it 10/10. It's also highly replayable so I think it warrants its own thread. It's based on the indie PC game and is essentially a rough cross between Indiana Jones, Mario and a Roguelike. It's out today and I can't wait to play it. I'm thinking of getting a fightpad or one of the new silver pads with the improved D-pad. Can anyone say which is the better option? I'm expecting glowing impressions throughout the day so I can get more excited while I wait for my mum to pick me up. Don't let me down lads.

  18. Sony published a PS4 Lineup Music Video, consisting of game clips interspersed with 2D animation. Then people spotted how much of the animation was traced from other sources, so the video was taken down. Here's a re-uploaded copy: Side-by-side comparison of all the identified sources: As mentioned in that @catsuka thread, some of the credits/social media pages of the credited director - Kevin Bao - now give 404 errors. And people have identified other things he worked on that look suspicious.
  19. This year is the twenty fifth anniversary and a gameplay trailer will debut at Gamescom on the 19th. https://www.ea.com/games/need-for-speed/need-for-speed-heat

  21. Release: 28th April 2017 Formats: PS4, Switch Price: £24.99 (PS4) £34.99 (Switch) What is Puyo Puyo? What is Tetris? Really? You know this! So what is Puyo Puyo Tetris? Gameplay Why should I get this? Puyo Puyo Tetris is quite simply the best competitive puzzle game on the market. The mashup works really well to create some really interesting modes, but even if that isn't for you, then you can play straight up Puyo vs and Tetris vs. Or even simple traditional single player Tetris and basic Puyo. Both Tetris and Puyo are the very best in the puzzler field and they work just as well together as they do individually. There is a simplicity to the games, but as the cliche saying goes. Simple to play, difficult to master. You only truly understand the skill levels involved when you take on other players. Much like the fighting game scene. Don't be put off though, as it is a lot more inviting than that genre and you can compete as you improve. The game was previously released in Japan only on Xbox One, PS4, PS3, PS Vita, Xbox 360 but only physically, due to some odd licensing laws. This Western release is only on Switch and PS4 unfortunately, however on the Switch the game is available digitally for the first time. I implore you to get this, not just because it is great, but it might mean we start to see further releases of Puyo titles in the west and maybe even a resurgence of the likes of Super Puzzle Fighter and other games influenced by Puyo and Tetris. Modes
  22. CGI announcement trailer: First proper trailer: Gameplay details from reddit Q&A: - Sniper rifle carried in case and needs to be assembled/packed up again rather than the magic pockets of Absolution - Hiding gun behind back when near NPCs from Blood Money returns - 'accident' hits for targets return - minimap now tells you where disguises are effective - full-screen map also returns with points of interest marked - Diana gives updates over the earpiece e.g telling you movements of the target - some comedy disguises seem to be back - alerts can trigger lockdowns - civvies leave the area and security conduct a sweep, after which everything returns to normal. These can be triggered strategically e.g by activating fire alarms - guards alertness indicated by yellow/red markers over their heads - certain guards are 'observant' meaning they will bust your disguise more easily. This is often logical, such as head-of-security knowing all his staff. These guards are marked on the minimap to avoid trial and error. - metal detector checkpoints return - save anywhere instead of checkpoints - guards can find mines you've places and will take them away for investigation (much like guards finding your specialist guns lying around in Blood Money and taking them back to the security room). - a form of 'Instinct' seem to return, like Batman's detective vision, highlighting points of entry/egress and guards. - shoving people returns. Including over railings. - throwing objects seems to have returned - choose weapons and equipment before entering a level - David Bateson voicing 47 again - Gameplay closest to Blood Money out of any game in the series Videogamer preview http://www.videogamer.com/ps4/hitman/preview-3901.html "More Blood Money than Absolution" "Going by the initial presentation, Hitman appears to be the game fans have been waiting for since 2006's Hitman: Blood Money, with huge sandbox environments and an unprecedented amount of opportunities to assassinate your target" Announcement blurb:
