  1. Wow. They're actually making a sequel. The first one is incredible but lacked multi-player, which this sequel has. It's Minecraft X Dragon Quest, basically, with a mission based structure, loads of quests, single or party combat and lots of buildings, weapons, food and other items to craft and use. It's such a good fit for Switch portability too. Now features gliding: (Check out the gliding gif! https://mobile.twitter.com/Wario64/status/894030969086164992/photo/1) And underwater exploration:

    Yakuza 0

I know there is a general Yakuza megathread, but I thought a Yakuza PS4 game that a lot of people thought would never leave Japan is coming out this month and if that doesn't deserve its own thread - what does. Disclaimer - I'm primarily making this thread because I think it is great Sega/Sony (not sure who exactly is involved in the decision) take a fairly low selling series like this and still decide to bring it to the west. I'm actually a terrible Yakuza fan - I own all five games, but by the time I got into the series my PS2 was too much faf to use and I still haven't got around to playing 3,4 and 5. I know - I SUCK. I have put about 10-15 hours into the first one and loved it, so I'm looking forward to getting stuck in. The question is, is 0 a good place to start? I know it is a prequel so technically it is the start but just wondering if not having played the others, a lot of the history might be lost! Anyway links and shit. Support this game - I'll likely buy it around launch even though I might not play it for ages because IT DESERVES IT! http://yakuza.sega.com/yakuza0/ https://www.playstation.com/en-us/games/yakuza-0-ps4/

    Planet Alpha

Picked this up on Switch. It looks pretty bad on TV mode (playing on a 4k set admittedly) but better - if basic - on handheld. Gameplay is pretty basic. I guess I was hoping for a Inside/Limbo with Sci Fi sort of thing but no such luck. The music is quite atmospheric but maybe as I’m playing it on Switch I don’t get the same sense of awe that I got from the trailers. Frame rate chugs on a few occasions though nothing too serious. Some bits (I’m an hour or so in) are quite creepy and scary but as the checkpoints are so generous there’s no real feeling of tension or fear. I’m disappointed as I was looking forward to this.
  4. A new game from the team that brought you Shovel Knight. A quintessential Ninja action game in the style of Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden. https://yachtclubgames.com/cyber-shadow/ Pre-orders will be available soon on all formats: Steam, Switch, PS4, Xbox One
  5. Maybe set around the Mayan Temples/pyramids of Mexico?

    The Last Of Us

Major autosave bug: Details on GAF, which they're updating as they try so suss it out: Waiting for gaffers to confirm if it works. Update: some people recovered some progress with this but it's not a fix. In some cases it didn't help at all.Keighley tweets about a 'megaton PS3 exclusive'. Then he tweets this as a clue: There's also a video of an ant if you go to the page www.lastofus.com It's probably not Half Life 3.

    EA Access

http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/07/29/ea-announces-subscription-service-on-xbox-one-ea-access I'm guessing that within a year every major publisher will thus ask for a similar subscription.
  8. Looks metal af, especially as the world is called Cvstodia, and using Vs as Us is fvcking cvlt . No doubt I'll buy it, play it for an hour before I realise I'm fucking awful at it and never play it again but shit, look at it.
  9. Not an April Fools after all. https://www.forbes.com/sites/olliebarder/2019/04/02/r-type-final-2-has-been-announced-for-the-playstation-4/
  10. Release date: 4th October 2019.
  11. Beamdog are partnering with Skybound games to bring all the classic Infinity Engine RPGs over in their EE versions, plus Neverwinter Nights. No further details as of yet. I was wondering what Beamdog were up to after Phil Daigle left - Trent has been busy forging weapons in his garage in his spare time, but this is tremendous news. Games are Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition The code for Icewind Dale 2 has apparently been lost, so this is the lot. Now confirmed as physical bundles and single digital editions - Baldurs Gate games Planescape Torment + Icewind Dale Neverwinter nights + "DLC" (coming early December)
  12. http://www.videogamer.com/xbox360/batman_arkham_origins/news/batman_arkham_knight_announced_for_ps4_xbox_one_and_pc.html New Arkham game by Rocksteady confirmed! Let's all try and forget about Origins and look forward to this instead.

  15. Another very short trailer on this one, with Spiders moving right away from the Mars War Logs / Technomancer universe into something more fantasy inspired.

  17. Seems like the seminal rhythm based action game that debuted on the PS2 way back in 2004 is getting a PS4/Switch release as well. In Japan at least. But as the Switch is region-free, we finally get the opportunity to join in the drum beating madness once again! Namco Bandai are actually releasing the game in the West as well!! Sugoooooiii!!! Gameplay sees symbols moving horizontally along a timeline showing what to hit and when. Most home versions distinguish single and double strikes, while arcade versions distinguish between hard and soft strikes. A drum simulating the taiko is played in time with music. Successful play builds up a life meter. If the meter is past a certain point by the end of the song, the song is passed. Despite the game's appearance, players may find the game challenging to master. Players need to accomplish at least a 65% clearance of a song which is determined by the 'tamashi gauge' to pass, and can become challenging on harder difficulties as players progress. Debut trailer: Latest trailers: Will be released in Europe for both the PS4 and Switch later this Autumn... !!! WARNING: Avoid buying the PS4 version if you want to use drum controllers. Apparently the build quality is lamentable, compared to their more reliable Switch counterparts !!!

    Dark Souls 3

Coming Spring 2016 to Playstation 4, Xbone and PC. It's apparently going to be the final Dark Souls game and it just looks like it may well be set in Lordran.
  20. This game came out recently across all platforms and is incredible. It mixes genres really well and is a: Metroidvania, Platforming game with pinball mechanics. The art style is lovely and the music is joyful. Despite being fairly short, it has fantastic pacing. Check out videos below then go ahead and buy it. It is already one of the games of the year in my opinion. Buy it Xbox Playstation PC Switch
  21. There doesn't seem to be a thread for this so here goes. Made by Deck 13 interactive, the people who brought you Lords of the Fallen, a perfectly competent fantasy game which probably suffered rather than gained from the Dark Souls comparisons. This seems to be moving into mech v mech combat in a big way (or perhaps more accurately big men in metal suits versus same) but glancing at some of the published previews retains considerable Dark Souls DNA in terms of mechanics so those comparisons aren't going away any time too soon (if you die you need to fight your way back rather than avoid enemies to retain the souls scrap). There seems to have been little on-line or magazine exposure but the release date is now set for just two months time. https://www.pcgamesn.com/the-surge/the-surge-gameplay-preview reasonably recent developer supervised hands on https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2017/02/08/the-surge-limb-crafting/ and a second.
