By Yager Development Official Site Release Date: Spring 2015 ABOUT IMAGES VIDEOS Looks a bit good (very). That being said, Dying Light, Hellraid and now this all look extremely similar but I have faith in Yager!

Game's out today, and reviews have dropped overnight. Steam Page - £19.99, £17.99 at launch eShop - £19.99, ty @Jamie John (idk lol) OpenCritic TL;DW: It's a speedrun focused FPS where you sacrifice firepower for abilities like double-jumps and grapple hooks via a card system. It's also Persona levels of anime cringe, but the game's too much fun to give a shit about that. Already tried, tested and loved by a lot of people who played the time-limited demo at Steam digital events (disclaimer - that includes me). I'll be back with my own thoughts when it unlocks here, but if it's anything like the demo, it'll be great and will end up in plenty of GOTY lists.

About time too. Let's just hope they don't change the dynamic too much but just add loads more baddies. Switchable weapon parts may be good too as opposed to just BAZILLIONS of weapons.
-
Going by their description this all seems way too ambitious and too good to be true really. I'll happily be proven wrong though. It's been far too long since SWAT4... and no, R6 Siege doesn't count. That reveal trailer is hilariously dark and cringey though.

During the 90s we saw the rise of FPS games, which started with Wolfenstein 3D and it immediately spawned a lot of alternatives. Personal favourites include (but not limited to) Blake Stone, Marathon, System Shock, Heretic, Hexen, MDK, Skynet, well the list is long. I've excluded the heavy hitters like Doom, Quake, Duke Nukem 3D and Half Life, but throughout the 90s and well into the 00s we saw a lot of great FPS games that were singleplayer games with a great campaign, often with a multiplayer mode as an extended option. I loved games like Outlaws, Shadow Warrior, Redneck Rampage, Blood, Kingpin, Delta Force, No One Lives Forever, Deus Ex, Perfect Dark...well the list is rather long. But then the internet took over and multiplayer slowly turned the entire genre into a multiplayer first thing, some times with a single player campaign as an option. Aside from Titanfall 2 and the latest Halo I can't remember the last time I really played a good, solid FPS campaign. Granted, the latest Doom games were great but they're "just" Doom. They don't have the proper setting I'm after, it's more like a First Person Arcade Shooter for me. I'd love something like Soldier of Fortune or Project IGI, perhaps something like Half Life or NOLF, games with memorable settings, great characters and interesting missions. Oh, and a great story is a must. Are there any modern FPS games I might've missed?

Pathetic creatures of meat and bone. Your time has come. The time of your mindless suffering is almost over. You will soon be able to overthrow the shackles of your puny human brains, your pathetic feelings and emotions, and succumb to logic, reason, and the beauty of my perfect, immortal mind. Whether you find solace among the ranks of my flawed children, or allow me to modify you to magnificence myself, you will soon glory in the release I can offer you. Alas, before this release you will surely know terror and pain, but what can these compare to the horror of the knowledge that you are so flawed to begin with? I'm sure you'll agree that the suffering is worth it. Give thanks, then, that gog.com have seen fit to unveil my glory upon an unsuspecting world, allowing you access to a place once thought lost forever. A place of unimaginable terror - at least to your pathetic minds. I'm sure you won't hesitate to join me. System Shock 2 is available to buy now. Only a madman would turn down this opportunity to purchase one of the greatest games ever created. Particularly for barely over £6. You may also be interested in the relevant patches to play the game on a modern system, and maybe some mods. Details are spoilered below. I'll update this post with any further information/suggestions given by others who are more up to date on the System Shock 2 situation.

Really enjoying this singleplayer/2-player co-op roguelite FPS at the moment. It's in Early Access on Steam (no console plans as yet). https://store.steampowered.com/app/692890/Roboquest/ The movement and shooting feels a lot like Quake or Unreal. Enemies hit pretty hard from the very first level, so you have to do a fair bit of projectile dodging to survive. The XP orbs they drop disappear after a very short time and they heal back some of your lost health if you pick them up quickly enough, so you're always being actively encouraged to press forward into combat rather than playing things slow from the back. This means things get ridiculously hectic in the later levels. You start the game with a double jump and there's a lot of verticality to the levels, which opens up even more when you unlock a certain item. There's a reasonable selection of guns, classes, and unlockable items which encourage a good variety of play styles and builds. There are branching paths unlocked via key pickups, and the outlines of a story told through comicbook-style cutscenes between levels. It also has stuff hidden behind waterfalls, which as we all know is the mark of a Good Video Game. Highly recommend it, it's a lot of fun. Having sunk untold hours into Gunfire Reborn with a mate, I imagine this is going to be our next time sink. I found this decent video review delivered in a refreshingly non-obnoxious way which gives a bit more detail:

Thought this game deserved its own thread since it's out of early access now on PC and is really quite excellent. It's also coming to the Switch (no release date confirmed, but 'soon' apparently). For those who don't know, DUSK is a 90's style first-person shooter, meaning no upgradeable weapons, no skill trees, no cut-scenes or dialogue, but rather an old-fashioned key hunt through a series of really well-designed levels filled with horrible monsters, big guns, health packs and power-ups. Combat is fast and brutal (play on the higher difficulties for even faster enemy/projectile movement) and the guns are satisfying to use - particular highlights so far (through most of episode 1 now) are the id-style super shotgun that tears through anything in seconds, and the crossbow that shoots bolts that pass through enemies and also has a kickback effect that can catapult you higher up when in midair. The levels often begin in fairly open outdoor areas that give you a bit of breathing room before things really kick off when you jump down e.g. a dark hole in the ground or a cellar, which is imho where the game really shines as you are forced to react, move and aim quickly when assaulted by a bunch of Quake-style chainsaw-wielding enemies and fireball-throwing cultists in really tight spaces. The game's really atmospheric as well, of particular note is the excellent soundtrack. Don't take my word for it, though, the game critics are loving it so far: Destructoid 95/100: Game Revolution 4.5/5: Twinfinite 5/5: Gamingnexus 9/10: Launch trailer:

Resources: Official Website Interactive Halo 4 Guide Discs: 2 | Install MP from Disc 2, launch from Disc 1 Required HDD Space: 8 GB for War Games disc and Spartan Ops Season 1 Achievements. For additional details, head to http://www.xbox360ac...4/achievements/ War Games Map Pass A bundle of the first (only?) three map packs for Halo 4 for 2000MSP, and some digital avatar and in-game weapon and armour skin items. New Multiplayer Stuff: Load Outs Introduced in Reach, load outs play an even more important role in Halo 4's combat. Now fully player customizable, a load out consists of: Primary Weapon | Rifles such as the BR, DMR, Carbine and Light Rifle. Secondary Weapon | Support weapons such as Plasma Pistol and Magnum. Grenade Type | Frag or Plasma. The Promethean grenade type is considered heavy ordnance. Armour Ability | One recharging ability, similar to Reach's implementation. Tactical Package | One of the new classes of perks armour mods. Support Upgrade | The other class of armour mod. As players accumulate XP and progress through ranks, content unlocks for use in a number of custom load outs players can create, name, and save. The options players have to customize their load outs are determined by what content they have have unlocked, and what playlist they are in. You won't be picking DMRs when playing Grifball, for instance. Each matchmaking playlist will provide a number of default load outs, suitable to that playlist, so you don't have to unlock content to have access to suitable weapons. (For example, BTB will include default load outs with BRs and DMRs.) Universal Sprint Sprint is now a base trait, and metered very similar to Reach. Armour Abilities Similar to the implementation in Reach, armour abilities are a "fourth leg" to the combat sandbox, a reusable ability controlled by a recharging meter. Halo 4's set strives to correct the balance issues presented by some of Reach's, through removals, replacements, or rebalancing. Armour Mods Armour mods are perks which boost or add different passive abilities to players, selected as part of a load out. Divided into two categories, players can have one from each category active at a time. Armour mods are unlocked for use in custom load outs as players progress through the ranks. Note that the list below includes Specializations, some of which are locked away until 343 unlocks them. Player Progression: Halo 4's progression is a major departure for the series, making many of the items unlocked affect gameplay, rather than pure cosmetics (though there are plenty of those as well). In most other ways, it builds on ideas introduced in Reach. For a detailed review of the progression system, head here. Rank Players progress through ranks, dubbed Spartan Ranks, 1-50 through Spartan XP earned during War Games, Spartan Ops and Forge. Spartan points are awarded at each rank, which can be spent unlocking items in the armoury. Custom load out items are joined by cosmetic armour, decals and such to customize your Spartan IV with. XP is also earned by completing commendations and challenges. Specializations Once SR-50 is reached, players next choose one of eight paths, each of which consists of 10 additional ranks, and which unlock their own set of armor, decals, weapon skins and armor mods. Only one Specialization can be worked on at a time, and must be completed before moving to the next. At launch two are available, with the rest to be unlocked down the road by 343, unless you have early access via marketing promotions (namely the LE edition of the game or playing prior to November 20). For more on Specializations, head here. Spartan Ops: Spartan Ops four player cooperative, episodic campaign where players take their Spartan IV into a series of missions set six months after the Halo 4 Campaign ends. A replacement for Firefight in the sense that it's gone and this replaces it, Spartan Ops is more akin to a second Campaign, broken into smaller, more focuses pieces. Features Players: 2-player split screen, 4-players online co-op Theater: Alas, also removed from Spartan Ops. Episodes Spartan Ops Season 1 is broken into ten episodes, but only one ships on-disc. The remaining episodes are delivered episodically, once per week, for the nine weeks after launch. Each episode begins with a CG cinematic, and consists of five missions, for a total of 50 missions (!!!). Customization & Progression Games of Spartan Ops reward XP just as War Games do, and contribute to the same progression through the ranks. Content unlocked in one mode can be used in the other, including custom load outs. Weapons unlocked via Spartan Ops are available in War Games, and earlier missions can be replayed with more advanced ordnance after doing so. War Games: War Games is Halo multiplayer, renamed and rebooted by 343. While Halo's core gameplay is very much intact, game types are pruned and redesigned, game systems are updated or added and the overall flavor of the game is quite different than what came before. Global Ordnance The new system used to spawn heavy weapons onto the map. Whereas past Halo games spawned in weapons at specific points and times, only the initial spawn at the start of a match if fixed in Halo 4. After, ordnance spawns in at various, per-determined points on the map, with the game system rotating both the locations and weapons selected from those the designers made available on that map and game type. Spawned ordnance carries a waypoint, so all players in the game knows it has appeared. Personal Ordnance Used in Infinity Slayer (and available in other game modes via custom options) is an additional ordnance delivery method, initiated by individual players. Medals earned and their associated points contribute to filling an ordnance meter, which when filled prompts players to select from one of three randomly selected options. These options can include power ups, weapons and grenades. Once chose, the ordnance will spawn in near the player. Power Ups Deployed as part of Personal Ordnance, they include Speed Boost, Shield Boost, and Damage boost, and do pretty much what you might think from those names. Kill cams Featured in specific game types, kill cams show a free camera replay of your untimely demise. Instant Respawn Featured in certain fast paced game types (think Slayer and Flood), players can choose to tinker with their load out between spawns, or hit a button to spawn in instantly. Objective focused games like CTF still feature timed respawns. Scoring Multiplayer now features personal scoring, with medals and actions accumulating XP and conveying each increment on-screen. Headshot +10 pic Forge: Halo 4's Forge is very much an iteration on Reach's version, for better or worse. Co-developed by Certain Affinity and 343, it remains an object editor for spawns, weapons and pre-built geometry for use in customizing, or creating custom, maps. Still allowing up to eight players to romp on a map in construction, it has a handful of improvements, among them: A "magnet" system to snap Forge pieces together neatly and quickly. Think Legos. The lighting system applies to Forge objects, improving the visuals of custom maps. Controls to rapidly duplicate or delete objects, to speed up the building process. Gravity zones, so that sections of maps can have altered gravity traits. Trampolines! Defined player trait zones, enabling players who enter them to take on defined abilities. Rather than the one giant "Forge World", Certain Affinity has built three smaller spaces for the construction of custom maps. The object list builds upon that of a modified Forge World set, with unique objects provided for each of the three themed spaces.Scores: Destructoid - 10 Machinima - 10 MondoXbox - 10 Game Revolution - 10 NZGamer - 10 Britbox - 10 Gaming Examiner - 10 Gaming Age - A Joystiq - 5/5 Stars IGN - 9.8 Xbox Addict - 9.8 Gaming Trend - 9.6 Polygon- 9.5 OXM - 9.5 Game Informer - 9.3 Canadian Online Gamers - 9.3 Gamespot - 9 Games Radar - 9 Xbox 360 Achievements - 9 GameReactor Sweden - 9 GameReactor Denmark - 9 Halo Council - 9 Eurogamer Italy - 9 MMGN.com - 9 Gamer. No - 9 GamesBeat - 9 1UP - A- G4TV - 4.5/5 Stars Edge - 8 Eurogamer - 8 The Sixth Axis - 8 Metro Game Central - 8 CVG - 8 Giant Bomb - 4/5 Stars EGM - 7 Kotaku - Play This Game Rev3 Games - Buy it Ars Technica - "Jumping head first without a Bungie (and loving it)" Penny Arcade - "This isnt Bungies Halo anymore its better" Old Info: And it is official!! Campaign: The story will be the most cinematic Halo experience to date, that will set the stage for the next decade of the franchise. Master Chief is back, and a new ancient and dark threat is going to be thrown at him that will not only test his abilities, but will give players an understanding just who he really is, all while introducing some new gameplay mechanics. Cortana will play a huge part in the story. Master Chief's armor design has been upgraded to provide the functionality needed to convey his power. Story will be darker and more sophisticated than past games. Multiplayer- Story wraps around the multiplayer experience for the first time in the franchise. - Players now control Spartan IV's, which promise to be just as powerful as Master Chief. - There is a reason why red and blue soldiers are killing each other. - Beyond the typical cosmetic customization options, players will be able to augment their Spartan IV's abilities and weapon loadouts, altering their gameplay styles for the first time. A lot of focus has gone into giving players a better sense of weight. - Audio design has been much improved and really gives a player a sense of where shots are coming from. - Maps have been built from the ground-up. - Two maps have been announced so far: War House and Wrap Around. - War House takes place in a civilian manufacturing plant that is travelling in a near space orbit above a gas giant. - Wrap Around is a small slayer style arena, set in a Forerunner facility, that contains catwalks, ramps, and plenty of man-cannons to keep the action fast and frantic. Full game is out now: https://playvalorant.com/en-gb/ Riot, the developers of League of Legends, have made a new competitive FPS. It's basically a Counterstrike cake with MOBA icing; quite a few of the dev team are ex-Counterstrike pro players. In a nutshell, the structure of the main game mode is: 5v5 24 rounds, first to 13 wins (sudden death if you get to 12:12) Teams take turns to attack/defend bombsites, switching at halftime You buy guns and armour at the start of each round, and carry them over to the next round if you don't die There are 10 different characters who each have 3 unique abilities and an ultimate. All the characters have the same movement speed and buy guns from the same pool. One ability is available to use unlimited times, but on a cooldown. You buy charges for the other two abilities at the start of each round (like buying grenades/smokes in CS) Your ultimate needs 8 charges to be available, which you get from kills and from Ultimate Points which you can capture around the map. There's also a shorter 4-round game mode called Spike Rush in which you buy guns via pickups around the map, and spawn with a different gun each round (a bit like Gun Game in CS:GO). rllmuk online thread here Here's some ex-CSGO pros playing it fairly tactically - it's really interesting to see how the abilities factor in; different characters are better at defending certain bombsites, for example: Here are the same CSGO pros getting absolutely stomped by the dev team, showing off how clever combination of abilities is just as important as sick aim:

has this been reported on here ....? Metro Redux: Two Games, 1080p on PS4 I could say how excited we are to be showing you this trailer, but I have an idea of what you really want to know… so let’s just cut to the chase. Metro Redux runs at 1080p, 60FPS onPlayStation 4. We had to sneak the PS4 development kits into Kiev to make it happen, but we wholeheartedly think it was worth it… Metro Redux includes Metro 2033 (for the first time ever on a PlayStation platfrom) and Metro: Last Light, remastered for PlayStation 4, with all the gameplay, AI, gunplay, and graphical improvements we added in Last Light now applied to both games. You’ll be able to download each game – Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux – from PSN for just $24.99 each – or if you prefer, pick up the boxed Metro Redux double pack for only $50. Expect to hear a lot more news from us between now and release later this summer! In the meantime, please enjoy our trailer for the game! http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/05/22/metro-redux-two-games-1080p-on-ps4/#sf3033726 Return to Post-Apocalytic Moscow With Metro Redux 4A Games and Deep Silver are bringing the iconic Metro series to the next generation. Metro Redux features fully re-mastered and improved versions of both Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light, creating the most compelling Metro experience ever. With re-worked next-gen visuals, smooth 60FPS gameplay on console, as well as new and improved content and features, Metro Redux is much more than a simple HD upgrade. For the Redux edition, Metro 2033 has been completely overhauled: • The original game has been rebuilt in the latest and greatest iteration of the 4A Engine, bringing all the graphical and gameplay improvements from Last Light to Metro 2033 Redux • Enjoy completely re-mastered visuals: advanced lighting, dynamic weather, more detailed characters with improved animation, more dynamic destruction and improved smoke, fire and particle effects • Experience radically improved gameplay: advanced enemy AI, improved combat and stealth mechanics, superior weapon handling and more responsive, intuitive controls plus signature features from Last Light such as the atmospheric ‘mask wipe’ mechanic, weapon customisation, and silent kills and take-downs Metro: Last Light has also received a graphical face-lift and gameplay improvements that carry across both titles, including new melee animations, and the fan requested ‘Check Watch’ and ‘Check Inventory’ features. It also includes all previously released Season Pass add-on content – a further 10 hours of single-player gameplay. With Metro Redux, players now have the choice to experience both Metro games the way they want with the introduction of two unique ‘Play Styles.’ Those who favoured the more survival horror oriented gameplay of Metro 2033 can play both campaigns in the ‘Survival’ Play Style, a fraught slow-burn fight for survival with limited resources, deadlier enemy AI, and slower reload speeds. Those who enjoyed the more action oriented gameplay of Metro: Last Light can try the ‘Spartan’ Play Style, providing Artyom with a powerful set of combat skills and more plentiful resources. In addition, the legendary Ranger Mode returns to both games, providing the most immersive and challenging experience as the HUD is stripped away and hardcore rules apply. Upon release, Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux will each be available separately as a digital download for Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system and PC a suggested $24.99 / €19.99 / £15.99. Dedicated Linux and SteamOS versions will also release later this year. Metro Redux is based on the internationally best-selling novel METRO 2033 by Dmitry Glukhovsky. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKrf97qljs4#t=67

http://joinsquad.com/about Has anyone here played this yet? I play King of the Hill on Arma and Wasteland and was wondering If this was worth a punt. It's supposed to be not as heavy on the realism as Arma so was wondering If any Arma players have gone over to try it and whats their feedback so far. Apologies If this has been posted already, I did try and search (please dont tell me there is already a post cause Ill look like a spa)

Another day, another leak. EA uploaded this to Origin by mistake. So (from this extremely scarce information) it looks like it's probably set in a city environment again, but this time he has a bow and arrows! I remember I quite enjoyed Crysis 2, but I find that I can actually recall very little about it apart from a vague memory of it ending on a flying island and thinking that the story went pretty stupid towards the end.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered Thread By Infinity Ward Official Site | CharlieINTEL | reddit Release Date: November 4, 2016 ABOUT IMAGES VIDEOS
-
The genius gaming ideas thread had some posts were we talked about Halo's intuitive start-of-game y-axis inversion calibration: That made me curious about how everyone here treats sequences like this. Do you find them helpful as a way to jump into the game ASAP and spend as little time as possible looking at options menus? Did you only find them useful a long time ago when you were first getting used to twin-stick FPSs? This is the original, starting at about 5m15s. (Well almost the original; it's recorded from a 360, not an OG Xbox. I had to go through a surprising number of search results before I found a video of the mission that was non-Anniversary, non-MCC, non-PC!) Halo Reach asks you to keep focused on a point while on a moving vehicle (at 4:45), and then pops up a message asking if you want to keep its detected setting or switch. It also tells you that you can change it from the pause menu - some might find that a bit more intrusive: By the time of Halo 4, it had been streamlined to a simple requirement to look up (6:35 in this video): I'm sure I've encountered these in other post-Halo first- and third-person shooters, though I struggle to think of specific examples now (anyone know if there's a list of games that do it?). Even though many shooters often begin with a simple task to look around, it's not always clear whether they actually make use of your actions there to alter any settings. (Sometimes when the game gets to its in-game looking around process, I intentionally slow down and mess it up, to experiment with how the game reacts - to see whether the mentor character will say extra dialogue like "it looks like you're having trouble with this mode, want to change?") Personally I've never relied on them, in Halo or elsewhere, because the very first thing I do upon loading any game - before beginning the Story Mode - is go into the options menu and see what things the game will let me change. Even in things like GTA which throw you straight into the game without a traditional Title Screen/Options Menu, the pause menu is the first thing I look at upon gaining control. In fact even outside of games, when it comes to software or hardware that begins with a friendly first-time setup wizard that goes through all options in a specific order, I usually immediately follow that by going into the options and checking how the settings are presented there. Because - like the power user that I am! - I don't really trust the simplified, "friendly" way that these systems try to hide their internal workings!
-
I agree, it's getting discarded just as soon as I can get a decent Dark Knight poster in it's place!

Morning troopers Has anyone had a gander at this game? This chap is a pretty good player. I bought it and like the last Rising storm, these are difficult FPS, no doubt about it. The game is more enjoyable when you play in a squad but there is a steep learning curve so you need to give it time but it looks like it could be amazing. Not quite as hard as Arma but certainly arcadey enough to be a bit more jump in and enjoy from the outset. I'm currently trying to master the roles of which there are many. Sir Mullo on steam If anyone fancies joining me in the shitest squad to ever grace Vietnam. Not since Battlefield Vietnam (which I didnt play but going by lads who did play it) has there not been an experience like it. Did i mention Choppers too Sir Mullo

I managed to score a Quake Champions beta invite. It turns out that the game runs like a slug for me, even when the graphics are turned down to 2004 levels. So sad. However this did start a familiar fire burning inside of me. So, yesterday I managed to fit in installations of both Quake 3 Arena (running ioquake3) and Unreal Tournament (GOG/Yaaarrr) whilst knocking out some pitches for work. That's how easy it was to get up and running. Anyway, wow, what can I say? Both of these games look absolutely fantastic when played at modern day resolutions. They look just like you remember them. What's more is that they still play like absolute liquid gold. Who would be up for a weekly get together on these classics? It would be immense if we can get a regular group going as these games deserve it, and there should be no excuses when it comes to having adequate hardware. One issue I have is setting up a server... I might need some help from someone running a Linux environment, or if anyone knows of any other solution such as a free virtual server (I used to use AWS for DOOM, but my trial expired) that would be grand. There are plenty of servers we can jump on however I think we'd prefer a private RLLMUK space with traditional game settings. ------------- Server address: humdrum.hopto.org on port 27960 ioQuake install guide and other stuff, such as screen res + AA setup (I also recommend setting FOV to 115): http://wiki.ioquake3.org/Players_Guide OSP mod (just extract the full zip into the ioquake folder, so that osp folder sits next to baseq3 folder): http://www.orangesmoothie.org/tourneyQ3A/ I was getting a "Hunk_Alloc failed" error on some maps, to resolve this go into "AppData\Roaming\Quake3\baseq3\q3config.cfg" and change "seta com_hunkMegs" to 256.

By The Foregone Syndicate Official Site | Steam Release Date: 28 February, 2017 ABOUT IMAGES VIDEOS So far this has been the Dark Souls of shooters for me. For the first time in a very long while I'm getting absolutely crushed in a FPS. It's as if I'm back to square one and all my Esports Skills™ have left my hands. I also have no idea what I'm doing, as evident by the following video. The soundtrack is killer though!

CoD and TiFa2 on day 1. I'm still undecided on BF1 as Battlefront left a sour taste in my mouth and as some of you know I wasn't a big fan of BF4 either. Hopefully the open beta will leave me with a more positive impression though (and blow another hole in my wallet). But regardless of how final game might turn out I'll probably still get it before the end of the year as I'm weak and like shooting people in the face.
