It's here that the Japanese gaming giant will unveil its plans for next six months – and hopefully beyond – and give us a good look at the games we could be playing this holiday season. At last year's E3, Nintendo focused mainly only on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (don't do this again, Nintendo, please), running through a long, long, list of confirmed fighters and stadiums. Howeve

  4. Here we are 2 days prior to the launch of the Switch, and I find myself thinking back 20 years, to when I picked up my brand new, super shiny, £249.99 Nintendo 64. These were super rare (by today's standards) at launch in the UK, 30,000 is the number mentioned. Imports had been changing hands (or at least were advertised in the small ads) for £600-800, which was an obscene amount of money to 14 year old me !! Anyway, my parents agreed to an N64 as a combined Christmas and Birthday present (my birthday is the 8th), so here is the story of my first Launch Day Conso

  6. https://nintendosoup.com/game-boy-classic-mini-now-one-step-closer-fruition/ I said it's gonna be the Gameboy before the N64 mini. Now the evidence is starting to point that way. Cue nine months of inactivity before we all lose our shit over something thirty years old.

  8. Miiverse is closing on 7 November. BOO. Before it goes, make sure you go to this page: https://miiverse.nintendo.net/settings/download_request and request a copy of all your posts and content. Hopefully including those screenshots where you arranged Mario pieces to spell rude words.
  9. http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2017/04/new_nintendo_2ds_xl_announced_releases_28th_july Nice for newcomers and those that don't care for 3D, and its nice that they've learned from design flaws of prior models (micro sd easily accessable and even a cover this time!) but ultimately to me it's still an inferior product. Slimmer New 3DS XL and I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Glad to see another proper handheld, gives hope a next gen one is still coming along the way. You know, ones that are kid friendly and can put in your pocket.

  11. Stream | Youtube | Archive ABOUT What to Expect? more at NintendoLife Might as well have a separate thread for it am I right? I'm hoping they're able to make ARMS look more enticing by showing more characters and modes as I'm not sure the Nintendo Tax™ is justified at the moment. They could at least double the roster and make Dhalsim a pre-order bonus (insta buy).
  12. For NES Visual Backers only for now, here we go! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2146199819/nintendo-entertainment-system-famicom-a-visual-com/posts/1849526 (requires login). The NES compendium is EXCELLENT, and huge! I will certainly be backing this and am looking forward to the outcome. I won't share the images from the kickstarter page as I'm unsure of the etiquette - needless to say it's very pretty indeed.

  14. Destructoid are running a story which suggests that Nintendo are either co-developing or publishing the long awaited sequel Beyond Good & Evil. There's nothing close to a confirmation here, bu they have two sources telling them more or less the same thing: http://www.destructoid.com/rumor-nintendo-funding-beyond-good-and-evil-sequel-346059.phtml?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter I was never actually that big a fan of the first game, but I know this could be a big catch for Nintendo. I'd also be happy if Nintendo continued to fund th
  15. Hi everyone - I'm hoping to garner some opinions on a retro gaming idea, if you would be able to help... I've got a business opportunity focused on gaming (arcade & consoles only at the moment) and one idea I've had to make it a bit more interesting to current and potential gamers is to provide a service a bit like Graze, Pact Coffee, Abel & Cole, etc. The idea is that you can go online, select which consoles you own and subscribe to a service that posts you a different game every month. You can play it and then send it back or you can keep it for an extra fee.

  17. Shamelessly stolen from the Gaf but this is beyond cool (and I missed the closing ceremony cause I didn't think it'd be worth watching, doh). Japan's PM transforms into Mario and then that ending, perfect. The entire video and ceremony are classy as fuck.

  21. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/560468638/nintendo-nes-library-guide-and-review-book-of-750 It already raised it's goal (50k as of writing, wanted 15k) and sounds mighty fine in the page department (450+!). What more could NES fans want? A page each for every game? 800+ pages? As the kickstarter notes it probably already weighs as much as it should, being hardcover. Every system needs one of these. I love what ROM does (Mega Drive: Collected Works) but a big thick hardback just detailing every game on a particular system is another matter!
  22. Hi all. My trusty N64 has gone quiet and I'm not sure why. The general consensus that these things are like tanks and along the cockroaches will survive a nuke. I get a perfectly good picture but no sound and I wondered if you guys had ever come across this before or had any tips on how to get it working again? (I once replaced the SID chip on a C64 but I doubt it'll be that easy to fix.) Assuming I can't easily get it working then does anyone have a spare N64 they want to quickly sell? Preferably a modded import (I like 60Hz with RGB). Cheers...
