  3. I'm surprised there's no topic for this yet but here we are, the remake of Seiken Densetsu 3, aka Secret of Mana 2 aka Trials of Mana is coming out in April and there's a demo available now, for Switch at the least. I've played it for a while and it seems like a very faithful remake of the original SNES game, if a little low-budget compared to something like Dragon Quest XI, keeping the colourful charm and lovely music of the old game and tarting it up for modern tech. The battle system has had a bit of an overhaul too, feeling much better than the clunky 16bit version, and it's worth keeping an eye out for the eventual release. Here's a long video of the Switch demo if you don't want to download it yourself.
  4. Looks metal af, especially as the world is called Cvstodia, and using Vs as Us is fvcking cvlt . No doubt I'll buy it, play it for an hour before I realise I'm fucking awful at it and never play it again but shit, look at it.
  5. This is the game I dreamed of as a child whilst playing those old Flash pixel physics games; so I've been looking forward to this one for a while! Not to mention it's a Roguelike and has got some steller indie devs behind it (Baba is Me, Crayon Physics and The Swapper). Trailer: Gameplay: Coming to Early Access September 24th. https://store.steampowered.com/app/881100/Noita/
  6. A new game from the team that brought you Shovel Knight. A quintessential Ninja action game in the style of Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden. https://yachtclubgames.com/cyber-shadow/ Pre-orders will be available soon on all formats: Steam, Switch, PS4, Xbox One
  7. This has apparently been in early access for a while but goes 1.0 with a massive content update and character wipe tomorrow. Also a price increase https://store.steampowered.com/app/424370/Wolcen_Lords_of_Mayhem/ I just played a little bit of it and it seems solid, polished and fun. I'm looking forward to the launch tomorrow. Some footage I found of someone playing in co-op
  8. I've posted about this before in the Kickstarter thread, but even though the game is crowd-funded it's not actually on Kickstarter (it's a fixed funding project on Indiegogo instead) and that thread perhaps doesn't give it the exposure it deserves. The game is in its last week of funding and still needs about 300k at the time of writing, so any help is welcome at this stage, So what is Indivisible? In short, it's a hybrid of a 2D Metroidvania game (in that it has a large interconnected map, platforming, areas that are locked off until you have certain items or skills, secrets and even some sequence breaking) and an RPG, most notably in its party management, leveling and battle system. Combat is heavily inspired by Valkyrie Profile in that each character in your four-person party is mapped to a button, with directional inputs adding more moves. Combat is not turn-based. You can attack as long as you have meter, so meter management plays an extremely important role in combat. The game is made by Lab Zero Games, the team that brought you Skullgirls. Here's their campaign video: This is by no means final, but what is cool is that everything you see in there is already playable. Lab Zero released a free playable prototype for Linux, Windows, Mac, Steam and PS4. Even though it's just the tip of the iceberg, it plays really well and has some cool stuff for expert players in it, like a secret boss and sequence breaking for speedruns and pacifist runs. If you want to read what they plan on adding, this post from the design director goes into great detail: http://indivisiblegame.com/blog/building-on-the-indivisible-prototype/ Combat is already pretty damn fun and you can see how much the additions above will add to the strategy. The way attacks link, with certain attacks setting enemies up for juggling, attacks having different status effects (like putting slow down on an enemy) and the different effects for the supers of each character can all be glimpsed in the prototype, and that's without all the additional characters, weapons, stat differentiation and tech like guard breaks, buffs/debuffs and so on. Other things of note: - Your party consists of your character and three Incarnations, Now what's cool about these Incarnations is that they - like the enemies - are based on a wide variety of mythologies and cultures from all over the world. This results in an incredibly diverse cast of characters. You can read all about the Incarnations that have been revealed up to this point here: http://labzerogames.com/indiv-incarnations/ - Music is composed by Hiroki Kikuta, most famous for Secret of Mana. - The game will have many crossover indie stars that will be playable, including Juan from Guacamelee, the Drifter from Hyper Light Drifter and Shovel Knight. The final one will be revealed tomorrow, with some people expecting it to be Miriam from Bloodstained or one of the characters from Undertale. We'll see. Here are the ones revealed so far: There's tons more on their campaign site, including a cost breakdown, the different tiers etc. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/indivisible-rpg-from-the-creators-of-skullgirls#/ So, please help if you're interested.
  9. This launched a few days ago on Steam Early Access, although it seems pretty well developed already, barring some of the item descriptions and a truck customization system still to come, along with new territories. It already has voice acting and the soundtrack is complete. Big differences between this and Cook! Serve! Delicious! 2!!! is that in this one you are running a food truck - this means rather than having waves of rush hour followed by slow periods, instead you do a ton of prep in between stops, with a few advance orders on the road. They've also completely removed chores (such as dishwashing and taking out rubbish) which makes for a much more fun game. They also have added a proper campaign mode, with a campaign map and location-based progression. Last big change is being able to flick the right stick to serve all your ready dishes at once, which is great. Here is the launch trailer: They have also been very open with the Early Access updates, here: If you liked the first two, this is brilliant. It'll be great on Switch in Summer too.
  10. Coming to all platforms January 30th for about £15... Below are some notes from the MS Store page: https://www.arcsystemworks.jp/codeshifter/ I adore crossover stuff when it's done well, and this is looking like Arc's own Street Fighter X Mega Man. With the story premise of Wario Ware. But maybe even better than all of that. The trailer didn't show a whole lot of action-packed gameplay, and I can see that the clashing styles might not be everyone's bag, but I'm interested in finding out more about this...
  11. Any objections? Coming to PS4, Xbox One, Switch and Steam in early 2019.

    West of Loathing

This released last year on PC and last week on the Switch. Don't let the art style put you off, this is a fantastic comedy RPG-lite. You play a young lad who sets off from home to find fame and fortune in the wild west. Along the way, he fights not just gangs and snakes, but demon cows, skeletons and goblins. And it's funny. As in, genuinely funny. The humour reminds me of a cross between Monty Python and Terry Pratchett. There's lots of text, but you never once want to skip it because the dialogue is that good. My one issue is the combat isn't great. It reminds me a bit of the combat in Paper Mario, but it's on the easy side. In fact, I've only died once in about 4 hours of play. But it's not a reason to be put off - it's an aside to the storytelling. Honestly, it's far better than it has any right to be. It's probably my favourite Switch game so far this year.
  13. https://store.steampowered.com/app/674520/FightN_Rage/ Can't remember where I saw this mentioned - possibly the Streets of Rage IV thread. Anyways, I thought it looked nice, so I added it to my wishlist. It is currently on sale (75% off until March 1st) and so I took the plunge on Friday night and I really enjoyed it. The graphics are good once you tweak the settings to your liking - personally I wasn't keen on the CRT filters and over saturated colours. The music is good and most importantly, so is the gameplay. It's nothing revolutionary, but the combo system and special meter work well to stop it being just a button masher. There are 3 playable characters to choose from - with more unlockable by the looks of it. Definitely recommended for the current price of £3.74! (not my video)
  14. Coming November 15th for PS4, Xbox One and Steam.
  15. This is a Pinball/Hack and Slash which is pretty unique and It just looks awesome! (And that sound design!). Steam - https://store.steampowered.com/app/852300/Creature_in_the_Well/ Xbox - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/creature-in-the-well/9p3swzzj1m4b?activetab=pivot%3Aoverviewtab Switch - https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/creature-in-the-well-switch/ PS4 release is "probably 2020" according to the devs. Trailer: Dev Breakdown:
  16. (This has been mentioned in the Steam thread, but it's not just for Steam, so...) EVERSPACE is a "single player roguelike space shooter" from ROCKFISH Games ("Pretty much the whole team who created the Galaxy on Fire series ..."). It's out now for PC via Steam Early Access, and will be coming to Xbox One "later this month" via the Xbox One Game Preview Programme.
  17. Well this is a bit interesting. Head Over Heels has just turned up on Steam. You can grab it here for a fiver https://store.steampowered.com/app/1134050/Head_Over_Heels/ I wonder if anyone told Tomaz Kac and Graham Goring about this? More here http://www.indieretronews.com/2019/08/head-over-heels-top-quality-remake-of.html
  18. (credit to @geldra for the "x meets y" in the thread title.) Now that Sekiro's out, this is the next most exciting release of 2019 for me*. I think it was first teased way back in 2015, but now it looks like it's closing in on a release date. From the Steam page: Put simply, everything seen in the trailers looks amazing. Atmospheric pixel-art, lightning-fast attacks, slick movement, neo-noir stylings, moody music... The only concern surrounding the game (for me, at least) is that in the past the release date has been all over the place - so I don't know if I'm making this thread prematurely! - but considering that it's had playable builds and the April 18th date was tweeted out on March 20th, I'd like to hope that there isn't too much left to do. *okay, Indivisible too, but that's not on the way for a while Official website: https://www.katanazero.com/ Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/460950/Katana_ZERO/ Switch: https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/katana-zero-switch

  20. Did anyone else start playing this on the Switch the other day (Or indeed has played it on other platforms). I'm really enjoying myself. Combat is fast and fun. The plot can be a little talky and slow but I like the castaways idea and building up the base slowly as you move through the plot is satisfying. Currently I'm level 30.
  21. Official Site Release Date: August 2nd 2016 ABOUT IMAGES VIDEOS One of the few stand-out games from the Sony media briefing.

  23. Haven't tried it out yet, but assuming it's good this is one hell of a nice gesture by current Titan Quest ip owners Nordic Games. Out of nowhere (well, not exactly, they've been patching the original games and running beta versions for months on Steam now) they've now released Titan Quest Anniversary Edition on Steam! That's right, one of the best ARPG's ever made remastered for a new generation to enjoy with a total of 1261 changes. It incudes both the original Titan Quest and the must-have expansion Immortal Throne combined into one game with reworked multiplayer, stability, performance, balancing, AI, STEAMWORKS and much more. And anyone who already owns either Titan Quest, Titan Quest Gold or (not and! Or!) Immortal Throne on Steam will get (or already own, since it's out) Titan Quest Anniversary Edition for FREE! And for those who don't already own one of the TQ games? Well, after being ashamed of yourselves for having a bad taste games and missing out on one of the best games in its genre for so long, you can buy Titan Quest Anniversary Edition with a 75% discount for one week. That's either 5 US dollars or 5 euros - no idea how much it is in the UK, but after Brexit that probably translates to 60 quid or something? Somebody let me know and I'll edit it in. After a week, the price will go up to twenty bucks/euros. Steam storepage here Full changelog here Edit: also out on GOG! GOG storepage here, same 75% discount but no free option obviously For those unfamiliar with the game, Titan Quest comes with my highest possible recommendation (Official Gerbik Approved (tm) ). Personally, I prefer Titan Quest over the likes of Diablo and Torchlight, but it takes awhile to get going - the game really comes into its own once you hit level 8 and unlock the second skill tree for lots of possibilities, allowing you to freely customise and combine skills between two different classes in a way that not many other games in the genre allow. But it's the setting that makes Titan Quest memorable above anything else - no emo/goth/satanic or endless dark dungeons or ye olde fantasy locales or even science-fiction trappings here, instead you're travelling across ancient Greece, into ancient Egypt and even further while fighting mythological beasts along the way like Minotaurs and Medusas and whatever else is appropriate for each location. It's all wonderfully different and refreshing, and even after all this time it still plays so well (thanks in no small part to the aforementioned multiple skill trees customisations).
