Crackdown

Anyone done that race through the shopping area in Shai-Gen territory, not too far from where you leave the Keep? It's got a limit of 1:40 but it seems virtually impossible to dodge the millions of people in the way. I end up with Shai-Gen hit squads and the police bearing down on my sorry agent ass.

Bugs? I haven't seen any.

I've had the game freeze on me loads and I've also had the announcer banging on and on and on about an "impressive ascent" long after I'd climbed the tower. Still an ace game though.

Yep. Difficult. I did it in 1.47 but it's certainly impossible to do without killing loads of civilians. I reckon I could do it if the supercar could make the little jump that's in it.

I managed it in 1.37 using the souped-up supercar, although I did mow down a lot of pedestrians.

As mentioned - there is that bug where the voiceover says "impressive ascent", "impressive view" at wrong times although I don't mind. For he has the best voice in videogaming ever.

I've found that the best bet for races like that Shai Gen one is to wait till your car stats have just levelled up and there are no bars on your skill meter thing. That way, mowing down the pedestrians doesn't harm your rating so you can just go balls out in a straight line.

But then that really defeats thw whole idea of trying to improve your driving stats. I try to do well in the races to max out my stats.

I climbed the tower yesterday. I have maxed out my agility and it was a piece of cake. Some of the jumps are quite scary though but it's worth it to see the view. The draw distance is just breathtaking.

496. My eyes want to bleed.

I'm on 496, too. I got all excited because I started finding loads around the huge dome in Shai-Gen territory, plus a few secret orbs. I had this mad notion I was going to find all the remaining agility orbs in that area, but sadly not.

Re. the races, I wish they'd included different class leagues, so I could try to beat my best time in a truck or an old jalopy. Once you've used the supercar to beat the challenge time there's not much point in trying again with anything else - other than in multiplayer, of course. It's another aspect of my main complaint with Crackdown - it's crying out for better stats support. Still, when that's your main complaint with a game I don't suppose you can really complain at all.

But then that really defeats thw whole idea of trying to improve your driving stats. I try to do well in the races to max out my stats.

But if you start with 47 driving points and an empty skill meter thing, plough through everyone in your way at absolutely no cost to yourself and finish the race in record time, you get more points than you would starting on 47 driving with a half full skill meter, driving like an old woman to avoid hitting people and losing bars off your skill, and finishing the race too late. Hitting people removes bars off your skill meter but doesn't drop you down from 47 to 46.

It works for me. When I'm not bouncing the SUV off into the sea.

Just do loads of stunts and run over people (getting a Los Muertos hit squad usually gives you loads of people to mow down) to get your stats up. That is the hardest race by far, and is probably best avoided until your stats are maxed out and then you can do to get the racing achievement.

First couple of times I went up the tower it was with three stars - now I've got four it's a piece of cake.

Aye, I'm glad I did it at three stars. It's the only time I've felt nervous in the game.

I kind of wish the easiest difficulty wasn't available as an option. I don't have the self control not to select it and it'd be nice to have to think about how to approach the bosses based on the info you get. Once you get that over powered machine gun from the Los Muertos king pin it becomes a bit easy. Still a lot of fun though.

Yeah, in co-op sometimes a Boss doesn't spawn if both players are quite far apart. I reckon it's to stop each player fighting a different Boss at the same time for some reason. Not had any other bugs I know of though.

I see invisible cars. Just as well I looked on the xbox.com forum because other people see them too.

I've done the game on ruthless and am so glad i did. its actually really tough.

It took me about a week to complete (with a minor amount of pissing about). If I'd played on Tough, I would have rinsed in about 2 days which would have left me feeling somewhat cheated.

I think I'm actually going to leave that race until after I've wiped out all the Shai-Gen. At least that way, I'll just have the police after me.

I just found my last agility orb, after searching all the islands 3 times it was located in plain sight on top off a crain in the shipyard area. This made my day even more complete :D

So the Disappearing Orb is an Urban myth then :P

Back to the hunt later.

I have 500 too but it could still be true. I could have got the orb before it disappeared as I hadn't triggered the boss yet! But its probably just a myth yeh!

It is a myth. I have 500, and I didn't go to the statue - I was disappointed it had been pulled down on defeating Garcia. I've since been to the statue in someone else's city and, to be honest, I don't think the statue can even be climbed.

I would've liked to have seen some shattered remains, maybe half of the statue's torso or it's head halfway down the hill. Imagine being able to then pick up the head and kill bad guys with it...
