Trauma Center

I think I'm up to 2-3 now, and it's suddenly become quite difficult. At the end five lump things spring up and they all grow quite quickly. I'll have to use that healing gift thing properly next time I think.

Oh aye, has anyone noticed this?:

Seperated at birth or a case of 'common anime-style hand syndrome'?

So am I the only person who bought this today then? Not really had a proper go with it yet, just done a few levels. It's really hard though, on the third operation where the nurse doesn't tell you anything I was floundering for ages trying out random things since I couldn't remember what the symbols meant. And when I make incisions it keeps saying 'poor' or 'bad' or whatever it says, but I can't see how I could make them any better.

But it's quite addictive and has that 'one more go' factor. Boring story bits though.

Got this last week.

I've found it so emotionally draining that I can't do more than a few operations at a time (I'd never get a job at the NHS).

One thing I can't work out is how to perform a clean cut with the scalpal. No matter what angle or speed I go at, I get the job done but badly.

I don't think any of my operations have been above or below a C rating.

Still bloody enjoying it though. I really needed something to fill the gap after Phoenix Wright and this pretty much does the job. Although it's not too good to play on the bus.

With the incisions, make sure you clean the area first with one of the liquids- I think it's the green stuff.

Is that what I'm doing wrong, not cleaning it?

Yeah I went through the first few levels on Challenge Mode again and it all makes a lot more sense now. I had totally forgotten that you could adminster health boosts with the green liquid and that you had to disinfect the area with gel before making an incision.

I had a look on GameFaqs because I couldn't understand why I kept getting a C when I was repeating the first operation over and over and doing nothing wrong. It turns out that in order to get the full Special Bonus you have to do the operation in a certain time...for the first op that is 30 seconds! The thing is, for that to be possible you have to skip all the Nurses' shit extremely fast. You have to keep tapping the call button over and over until she lets you do something, and even then I only did it with 1 second to spare. Bad game design imo, you shouldn't have to skip all the text like a madman to get a good score even on repeated plays.

Yes, the fact that the Nurses' bits pop up in the time trial mode is a fucking travesty.

Is that what I'm doing wrong, not cleaning it?

Yes. You were told in the first mission to always clean it. You have to clean it when you stitch 'em up, too.

And when you cut, don't do it fast and "slash", just draw a smooth, even line.

Just be careful when cutting for now. You can have a slash in the Wii version.

LOL, MOTHERFUCKERS.

This or Animal Crossing, then? I did get bored with the GC version of AC eventually, mind... :)

Dunno, both are great. Animal Crossing is quite limited though, and you definitely need the wireless or WiFi play to get the best out of it. I don't know if there are many people still playing this, but I seldom go back. Once you've cultivated the land the way you like and got the cool tools there's not much to do. Collecting fishes, bugs , fossils and furniture doesn't really appeal to me, so I'm pretty much done with it. On the other hand, I did spend a lot of hours on it in the beginning, and I still go back every now and then to check on things. When the magic holds it's wonderful, when the magic disappears it's dull.

Trauma Center is a brilliant game, it's very compelling and really used the touchscreen very well. It's a bit of a puzzler and you need to be fast and accurate. I think it's pretty challenging but I like that. It's also a great game to play for either 5 minutes or over an hour. Most operations have to be done in a short time, so it's easy to turn on the DS, attempt to do the operation and just switch off if you fail.

Got this today, and I really do think it's a prime example of why the DS was such a great idea in the first place.

Pretty much agree with what everyone's saying, the chat bits are cumbersome and really get in the way of things, but when it gets into it's stride it's probably one of the most satisfying uses of the stylus control system yet.

All that being said, I have hit something of a wall, and I'm sure I'm simply missing something. On one of the earlier levels you have to remove tumours from some blokes stomach, which I do and then the nurse says something about dealing with the incision. Now I assume this means zoom out and sow the poor sod back up, but for the life of me I can't zoom out. The scanner/zoom tool simply wont work, every time I try to draw a circle it just emits its scanner pulse and doesn't zoom out. Any help would be appreciated, as I'm really looking forward to moving on in this - thanks.

I was having this trouble as well, although it says draw a circle, it seem to only want about 3/4's of a full circle for it to respond.

Don't know if anyone's mentioned it because I can't be arsed to read through the thread, but they missed a trick with this one; they should've had you speak into the mic whenever you wanted to change your instrument:

"Scalpel!"

"Scalpel, Doctor!" *Swoon*.

Wii? Go on, do it.

That's a good idea.

You can still shout "Scalpel!" while your switching gear manually though, to hold up the illusion.

I was stuck here too. What you have to do is inject the brown serum into all of the bumps. Once you've done this is zooms out automatically.

Just got this yesterday and I'm loving it. Did you know that pressing 'select' skips the conversations? I've not tried it in challenge mode yet, but I get the feeling that this is the trick.

How in the blue fuck do I do the one with the moving tumours? The first part is simple, but once you have four bouncing about it's a nightmare.

I've been stuck on this bit the last few days, it's really ruined it for me ;)

I just can't see how it's possible, I mean obviously it is, but the vitals just seem to be in constant nose dive, and by the time I've drained one tumour enough to remove it, the patient is gone.

A great shame, but unless anyone's got some stunning advice, this game gets traded next week.

.::: Prep multiple tumors for removal instead of doing one at a time. Also if they go in health low just stab them in the blue with the health-injections. Who cares about OD'ing (not that it is possible), just complete the level.

I'm absolutely stuck on the first REAL guilt challenge - where there are triangles/thorns to pull out. I was rinsing the game up to this point, and I stupidly bought Phoneix Wright the day after I got stuck. Not touched Trauma Centre since...

Anybody got any tips? I want to get back into it, I was really enjoying it before. I was also using two styluses, in order to feel like a real surgeon

I think that you can only remove a triangle safely if all of the triangles surrounding it have no thorns touching them... something annoying like that anyway.

So clear all the thorns from the surrounding area and quickly scalpel it and remove it.

Unfortunately, I don't think this works for the next version of this GUILT.. the triangles multiplying seems completely random. Can anyone help me out with this?

I found that the thing that caused the vitals to drop really fast is when a lot of the little black and white dots appeared. Focus on burning them away with the laser and keeping vitals as high as you can, and only get the drain out when two have actually joined. If you're just looking to get this op done, and you're not worried about rank, then I think it's easier if you prioritise your jobs like this:

1. Keeping vitals above mid (around 40?)

2. Burning the smaller dots

3. Draining the tumors

Things should be a lot easier once one has been excised.

Is this only out on DS? Its sounds brilliant!

Yes. It's one of the best. Really challenging. Get it
