I'd never consider playing any game without the optimum play strategy. The simple one at wizardofodds will be fine for the moment. http://wizardofodds.com/jacksorbetter/simple.html

I'd play through 50-100 spins with play money to get an understanding for how the game and the strategy work, then if you've got any questions post them here and i'll answer. But after a bit of free practise i'm sure you'll pick it up.

Video poker is pretty easy to learn, do you know the rank of poker hands? I think the Wizard site has a java version which lets you play & then shows you where you've made an error.

Right I understand the rules now, but I don't really understand how much I should be betting to reduce varience.

Do more hands at a time work better, but at a low stake? So should I be playing 5 at a time, but at 10p for instance?

Use the multi hand at low stakes. PP used to offer 5p on their Jacks or Better but upped the minimum to 10p a few months ago. It may be worth looking at the other 10 play vp's they offer in case any of them 5p (although I'd guess they are all the same). Good luck!

OK, so I put £100 into Paddy Power, pretty sure I knew now how Video Poker should be played (the wizzard of odds game was constantly complimenting my skills). 26 hands in, and I was down to £72. Was I playing properly? Were my cards just shite?

It seems that the bonus isn't released until you wager 25x on everything. So at £5 a spin it works out at 960 hands.

I've already withdrawn it. I don't care about the odds anymore, this experience amazingly has taught me never to go near Video Poker again.

That's all well and good, but the 26 hands before it were utter shite. I'm well aware of what the numbers say but in all seriousness if I'd have continued I would have been worried at myself. When you're not happy with a £374 profit in 30 minutes you have a problem, in my opinion.

It's the same reason I won't do the Golden Palace sticky. I have a year abroad to fund and I'm not prepared to chuck money at casinos unless I'm confident in the game I'm playing. Quite simply, at Video Poker I'm not confident.

I ended up down £11 even after my £200 bonus was credited doing the PaddyPower platinum monthly.

Well why did Rog tell us about the whole system with this thread? Just trying to be nice. I've had to personally explain to a load of friends and family (Jesus Mum, LEARN TO RIGHT CLICK!) how it all works, at least with the website I can just send them there and be done with it. The referrals thing is just a nice bonus (I think I make about 23p per sign-up to GetMinted). It's not doing any harm is it?

Even if it was just a distillation of all the useful information in this thread alone, it'd still be worthwhile surely.

Done a few of these as a bit of a change from poker. Will Hill £50 in £120 out Bet365 £100 in £220 out and Littlewoods £25 in lost the £25 bonus so stopped! Not bad but need a break now as my head is spinning a bit!

i thought id have a pop at a 50 down, 200 bonus but you can only withdraw after 20x slots, slots are obv a complete skank but im feeling luckyy. Anyway, i put it all on a hand of blackjack after a while so im at 360 now, but is there any slots that has less variance / higher payout than others, or are they all pretty much a much of a muchness?

Well if you're gonna play slots, I might suggest starting with the microgaming casinos. Autoplay & generally reputable. Really the only reason to play slots is to take up 200%+ bonuses.

Finally decided to have a go today, made £116 on Virgin, and it'll be around £90 on GetMinted (I have to wait 72 hours for the bonus on this one, do I have to play the extra £50 when I get it to be able to deposit it?). Is there any more good ones along the lines of Virgin and GetMinted with just a 10x deposit requirement?

Had a go at William Hill and somehow managed to get the worst run of cards ever right from the start, which in the end took away all of my bonus, so I think I'll just withdraw from there. Am I ok to withdraw the £50 I put in after 72 hours or whatever it is?

Lots of questions but I can't help it, the prospect of free money gets me all excited I guess .
