The problem with the pod is that its far too fucking complicated. How is some little twat going to even find the games from the main menu when they can't be bothered to read it? I saw one kid lost in the dashboard while the pod was trying to teach him about different types of accessories. And why does Kameo have a three minute unskippable intro sequence?

I agree with this. I may have perservered but was with my wife who was even less keen than me on how long the thing took to get started.

I've got a Woolies Core pack on the way as well as my Gamestation pre-order

HOWEVER

I won't be a cunt and ebay the Woolies one if I get two, I'll take it back to a store for a refund so somebody doesnt get ripped off. I hope you all do the same.

Would they even accept returns?

how do we know for sure if/when we'll get the Woollies one if we ordered online ? i ordered the Core pack just yesterday. i couldn't find anywhere on the site when it said i would be charged even.

Its on shipping.

Were Woolies still taking Core orders yesterday then?

I noticed Argos where mine has been pre-ordered (and charged so it had better arrive on the 2/12) have stopped taking them now...

They look like they're still taking pre-orders for the core pack, and this from their premium pack page:

We are unable to take pre-orders for this product. However the Xbox 360 Core System (see below) is available to pre-order for 2nd December.

This is Game's official line at the moment (I realise it is not particularly helpful):

Premium Pack

Online: Stock will be very limited and only a proportion of online preorders will receive their console at launch. We can no longer accept new preorders. We will do our best to secure more stock and these will be offered to preorder customers first.

Instore: We hope to be able to fulfil all preorders before Christmas. We can no longer accept new preorders. We expect no free stock at launch. There may be small deliveries of stock across December.

Core

Online: We currently expect to be able to fulfil all preorders at launch. We can no longer accept new preorders. We expect small amounts of free stock at launch. We expect small deliveries of stock across December.

Argos appear to still be selling the Core Pack at first glance, but when you try and order one it says, 'this item is not available for store pickup or for home delivery". so i guess that means it's not available at all.

Ah, sorry. The confusing thing is that there isn't a red "buy or reserve" button on the premium pack page, which is obviously sold out, but it's still there on the core. Apologies.

I've just called Game (Listergate Nottingham) and they told me that if you paid a £20 then you are guranteed one at launch.  I quizzed the guy about this and he said that is what they had been told.

Anyone think this is too optimistic?

Hello Sardan,

That is what they keep telling me, and mine was ordered from the same store.

It least there is some consistency to the story...

...And now the pace of built-in obsolescence has accelerated to such a degree that we are made to feel inadequate if we don't buy, and inadequate a few weeks after we do.

-From the Guardian regarding the pace of technology.

Good luck to all those hoping to pick up a 360 next week.

I'll be getting one too but not 'till late next year.

My local Dixons assure me that being second on their list absolutely 100% guarantees my machine day 1. They will not sell any machines if they dont have more than the pre-orders.

Basically they said they wont be selling pre-orders to others which is reassuring.

Well my local Woolworth’s have JUST put up their Xbox360 stuff

talking to the guy there he said it's been 'quiet' seeing as they've only got pieces of paper stuck to the Xbox game shelves i don't think many people have noticed that the 360 is coming out which gave me a chance to preorder a bundle with PD0 this afternoon :)

The only sore point is that no shops are selling the Xbox full pack by itself.

I find paying the full £50 for the game a tad sickenin, but then shops know they have customers over a barrel, the bastards
