Ack. My list is wrong.

Never seen School for Scoundrels, at least I don't think I have.

It's fucking outstanding. Alistair Sim is this guy who basically sells tips on getting revenge, winning the affections of girls etc to young chaps in need of help. It's kind of Faustian, and in parts a bit racy for the time (well I thought so). Been years since I've seen it.

I like "Went the Day Well", a wartime propaganda Ealing movie, about English villagers who stop a cunning German plot.

I found this bit of trivia about it on the IMDB.

When the man running the pub in the village where the film was being shot discovered that he had used up his alcohol ration on the film crew, he was so distraught he committed suicide.

It most certainly was.

Glad you enjoyed the film Linkster.

Amazing. As you say, very dark, some absolutely brilliant lines. Probably the best Ealing film I've seen.

(Interesting nerd alert for Who fans too - the prison governor was the guy who played the same role as Trenchard in Sea Devils.)

School For Scoundrels isn't an Ealing film AFAIK - it was produced by the same company as Brighton Rock. It's easily up there with the Ealing classics though - I love it.

I'm sure I read somewhere that there's a remake coming out next year starring the guy who played Napoleon Dynamite. I'm already concerned...
