.::: Got it from the shop and just went online! :D Skated against a 'Mark'. PM me if you want my Friend Code, it seems each game will have a seperate Friend Code what I got from the menu's.

For those with router-doubts: the SpeedTouch 510 works like a charm.

The game itself is pretty good, and it's 3D has to be seen in motion to be believed. It's 'solid'. Truly solid. The music is bizarre for a DS. ;) They crammed some CD music in there including entirely spoken intro. Oh deary me! I'm liking it!

.::: Oh dear lord, it's syncing all your stats on the game's website AND you can upload and download board-decals... They're outdoing Nintendo on the online front. ;)

[edit] My god, even Microsoft can learn something from this. You create an account using a login/pass the game generates. On the website you can then use that account to choose decals and copy them to your decal/board slots. Once done you can enter the game, update profile and presto: decals are downloaded!

It also tracks your stats and gives you downloadable goals to add a lot of replay-value. The only thing I need to test is whether or not you can directly connect to a friend or if it will use Mario Kart's random encounter principle. So get the game already!

Make sure the router's broadcasting in B mode too. Go into the settings page and choose Mixed mode.

It is, also I originally wasnt transmitting my SSID and had a MAC access list, even though I entered the DSs MAC address in the router and the SSID in the DS, I thought that might be messing it up so I turned that stuff off and it still isnt finding anything...

...might have to try a firmware update.

.::: Hmmm... It's not in WPA mode is it? And are you sure you using a normal connection and not letting ti search for the dongle? (Which has a seperate button.)

Nope its not got any security at all on at the moment and im going through the right things on the DS.

Ive got a feeling it might be the firmware, the Nintendo site says to make sure you are using the latest version (not sure if it says that for all routers), its a pain but ill probably try that next.

EDIT - Damn just checked and im actually up to date with the firmware (despite having not updated it before), so that isnt the problem.

.::: Crap. :S Maybe the router will only accept predefined connections? IE set up a 'slot' for the DS?

Most of the advice I've seen for getting Mario Kart to work online has been along the lines of:

- Give the DS a static IP

- Put the DS in the DMZ

- Try different channels

Here's someone's guide from the Nintendo forums to set up a Netgear router, it might be worth a try on other brands?

Thanks for putting up those DNS numbers. I have a WTG624 NETGEAR router and

that was the only piece of info that was missing to set up everything

manyally in the DS. As for the router I put a static IP for the DS and put

it in the DMZ. That was getting me connected but with a extremely bad signal

strenght, specially when my wi-fi enabled laptop was around. After reading

your thread I finished putting all the manual settings in the DS and now I

get a better signal.

For anyone with a WTG624, here's a snapshot of my router settings:

DS IP: 192.168.0.5 set static and in the DMZ

And in the DS:

Gateway: 192.168.0.1

Mask: 255.255.255.0

IP: 192.168.0.5 (This has to match the IP you gave it in the router)

DNS1: 4.2.2.2

DNS2: 4.2.2.3

And WEP and SSID depend on how you got things set up at home. For these two

values check your router's wireless settings.

Hope this more detailed posting helps anyone.

Nowhere in Sunderland is selling it today. :( At least it gives me time to make a stab at finishing Phoenix Wright.

OBJECTION!

I need to as well. I'm on Day 2 of the final case. Must finish it before MK and THAS arrive later this week.

Will I be able to use the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection if I have a Macintosh?

As long as you have a wireless router that is compatible with the Nintendo WFC -- and almost all of them are -- then you will be able to connect to the Nintendo WFC from your home. For gamers who do not have a compatible wireless router, and do not wish to purchase one, Nintendo offers the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection USB Connector as an alternative. Unfortunately, this device is not compatible with Macintosh systems. You can still play by connecting at a local Hotspot, or purchasing a compatible wireless router.

I hope the Airport Express is compatible, or I will not be happy.
