Or post your friend code in this thread to appear on the list below. The tool is cooler because it tells you who's added you.

Some enterprising poster on GAF set up a minisite to host their friend codes for mario kart... might a similarly talented (or not so talented but willing to try) person here do the same? Could have seperate lists for AC, MK, TH and whatever other games come along in the future or could be even more ambitious and allow people to have accounts where they link various games.

Bit pointless really. Better to do it via PM as you'll need to both enter each others code before you are added to the friends list.

Given the way the online works, not ridiculous at all. For Mario Kart, you can't chose which friends you play with, so to make it possible to organise games with the people you want to play with, it will be necessary to keep you friends list to a minimum, and all coordinate to start a game at the same time. If you had loads of people on your list, your chances of actually getting into the game you want would dwindle. Other games, hopefully, won't follow this model, but I wouldn't want to be restricted to the few people I will have on my Mario Kart list for every DS online game.

Anyway, the info is stored on the game card, I believe, it's just the way it works. It also means you can have a different name in each game. It's a pretty basic online model.

I ordered my copy on friday from vg+ so I'm not sure when I'll get my copy. It's only a matter of time before I see you all online though :(

Yes, how about everybody's code goes in the first post. New people add a reply to the topic with their game, name and friend code (and what time they're usually online), which is then added to the top by the thread starter. Returning visitors to the topic need only check for the new additions and add them all, running under the assumption that the new visitors will have added all the codes already in the list.
